Talking of postage stamps, I have a booklet of old-style stamps without the barcode. I would have thought the simplest way to exchange them for new would have been to walk into a Post Office but no, you have to download a form, print it off and post the stamps off to some obscure Freepost address.

Second class, wasn't it. I went to the appointment because I had a phone call before but the NHS could have save themselves the postage.

When a letter posted on the 26th arrives on the 30th telling you that you have an appointment on the 28th.

Those things are weird. I was in San Francisco for a couple of days in early December and I wondered what they were at first. My impression was that they are just about OK if the situation is normal and expected and provided that all their sensors are operating.
