  1. Long did well to out-jump Virgil. It was practically the only header he didn't win all game.
  2. In terms of payment terms, yes it is, but every time a player changes clubs there is a lot of 'leakage'. Of course, any player that we sell who has a sell-on clause will reduce our takings.
  3. It wasn't a free header, Virgil challenged him for it and jumped right in front of him.
  4. Why is nobody talking about Sam Vokes any more? I was just wondering why it had all gone quiet, not really putting his name forward.
  5. Yes indeed, I'm still quietly seething about the first-half formation, and I'm struggling to see the point of the way we pass a short ball forward from the back to a midfielder coming short who can then only play it first-time back to the defenders. It gets us nowhere and anything mis-hit is liable to put us in trouble.
  6. See you next season then
  7. I was just wondering which plan we were following because it doesn't seem to be working at the moment.
  8. It's nowhere near that simple. The fees quoted are not the fees that we receive, the payments are not all guaranteed and are often linked to future performances, percentages paid to former clubs, you cannot ignore the wage element, there are agents' fees and if we do make a profit, Corporation Tax. When the papers say that somebody has left for 'a deal worth £...m that money doesn't all go to the selling club and may even include the player's future earnings.
  9. VVD's header, but the Times had it down as Long's header and Targett's corner so you're not the only one. It was a strange substitution though when you're chasing the game. Whatever the situation I never seem to feel that JWP is the solution.
  10. He's getting better. He used to be substituted at around 60 minutes but yesterday he got to 76. At this rate he might last the whole game by sometime in Late September.
  11. When does the 5 years start?
  12. That's a decent summary. Unfortunately it's all getting depressingly familiar these days. WTF was going on with that first half formation? Long was pulling their defence all over the place but there was nobody up with him to take advantage of the holes he created.
  13. Yes it did, somewhat, but not a lot. I was sitting right in line with it and it seemed to curve back to the left a bit but not so much that Stek couldn't have just tipped it over the bar. I can't fault him for the first though. The area was getting crowded and I don't see what he could have done to have saved it.
  14. After 83mins for Jedinak, according to the BBC, although I can't actually say that I noticed it at the time.
  15. Nope, still thinking....
  16. Yes he did, but he also fell over a lot.
  17. It was Davis. Couldn't have set up their player with a better pass even if he wanted to.
  18. I cheer the team, not the players.
  19. How can we be 6 places worse off when the season hasn't ended and there are 18 more games to go?
  20. Meh, I've played on worse ( and don't forget that they don't pay any penalties or fines )
