  1. And the lumps of flint just under the surface! I've skinned my kneecaps a few times down there.
  2. These measures change all the time but I was always told that IQ was a standard distribution with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15 which is presumably why uncle Boris chose his levels of 85 and 130 being one sd below and two sd above the mean. This article states that the extremes of the distribution are not Gaussian: http://hiqnews.megafoundation.org/Definition_of_IQ'.html I also stumbled upon this article which I found interesting: http://www.isreview.org/issues/57/gasper-genes.shtml
  3. Just because somebody says that it's an IQ test doesn't mean that you have to believe them. Trust me, never take anything at face value
  4. Quite so. Such tests are deeply racist and militate against those members of the ethnic minorities in the warmer parts of the world who don't live in houses and have no need of alarm clocks.
  5. Au contraire, such feeble attempts at trickery are doomed to fail when confronted by anyone with a spark of nous or an element of imagination. Indeed, it is those with low IQ who will 'spot' the traps and proceed to fall into them.
  6. How can they be full of crap? I always thought that bears did their number twos in the woods.
  7. Now you're just being obtuse. Anyone knows that clocks don't have hair Maybe he didn't like the way it was looking at him?
  8. Good point. Anyone with a bit of intelligence can see through the question. Anyway, why should the times of going to bed and setting the alarm have any bearing on how much sleep you get?
  9. So? Why does this assume a 12-hour clock? If he says that he set it for 9 in the morning then you are entitled to assume that it cannot be a 12-hour one.
  10. Exactly, my ursine friend. The questioner said Finally, the mayor was asked: “I went to bed at 8 in the evening last night and I wound up my clock and set my alarm to sound for 9 o'clock in the morning. How many hours sleep did I get?” There is no way on knowing whether he stayed awake all night watching cricket anyway, but the did say "set my alarm to sound for 9 o'clock in the morning". If that is true then it would not go off at 9 in the evening and even if it did anybody with or without any sense would reset the alarm and go back to sleep. This is a feeble attempt at trying to be clever and it fails.
  11. It certainly had that look about it. He seemed to be taken by surprise.
  12. All stuff and nonsense. There are no square houses at the North Pole, anybody with any intelligence would know that, and the apple question is a load of ********. It all depends on the use of the verb 'take'. Is it 'take away', 'take home', 'take out of the bowl'? again, anyone with any intelligence would have considered a myriad of alternatives and concluded that the answer could be anything you liked.
  13. Doubtful, calf muscle according to The Mail.
  14. Boruc played the post and look what happened to him.
  15. Indeed. Wouldn't three points tomorrow be better than some possible points on Saturday?
  16. Let's not kid ourselves that he would have done any better on Sunday.
  17. Know thy enemy...
  18. No he isn't.
  19. It's unusual for a new player to go straight into the team and be a success. Historically in the big clubs it would take a few months before a new signing would be considered to have adapted enough to be a regular.
  20. Dave Jones gave a talk to our referees society and mentioned Kevin Davies. He said that there was a board meeting or something and Kevin was invited in. They asked him non-committedly whether he wanted the move or not. When he said yes they all jumped up in the air shouting yippee! They had been hiding their crossed fingers until then.
  21. The defence is more important than the attack if it's points you're after.
  22. Good to see that. Stories? The only one that I can remember is waiting one evening for him to turn up at a referees society meeting in Southampton and him being 'indisposed' and unable to talk. I also seem to remember a report of him turning up at Chelsea to watch a game and being turned away at the door, possibly during Ken Bates's time in charge. Obviously being an ex-player and a fans' hero counted for nothing at that time. Another greta name sadly taken from us at too early an age.
  23. Still possible, but not probable.
  24. Don't goalkeeper shortages count as emergency loans? Any chance?
