I'm much more confident now I've seen the lineups.

The Digne situation was a weird one, but that wasn't the sole reason he left. They are in deep financial trouble and they needed to raise funds to make some additions in January, so he probably would have gone even if he hadn't fallen out with Benitez. Just a shame from their perspective they spunked those funds on Alli who has contributed literally nothing of note so far.

He didn't. The players were still behind him and could see what he was trying to achieve, but the hatred from the fans due to their poor form and his history with Liverpool (he's still commonly referred to as FSW by them) created a toxic atmosphere at Goodison, and for that reason he was never going to be given the time to turn it round and his position became untenable.

Very much enjoyed that first episode. Probably the best single episode of Trek since the TNG/DS9/VOY era. Was just great to see some of the Starfleet ships from that era again, only in glorious 4K. The new Stargazer is a thing of beauty. Looking forward to how the season pans out. I enjoyed S1 very much but the finale was a bit of a let-down. I saw on my feed this morning that S3 has wrapped production, so hopefully we won't have such a long wait for that as we did between 1 and 2.

I can't agree with your assessment I'm afraid. Everton have already lost more games than Burnley. In fact, only Norwich and Watford have lost more games than them. Burnley's defensive record is much better than Everton's (and better than ours even). Following their decent start, Everton's form since October is bottom of the league, worse even than Norwich or Watford. Burnley's points record over the same period is more than double Everton's. Since the beginning of 2022, Burnley have made up 7 points on Everton and are now only a point behind them. I really don't see them beating Wolves. They might get something against Newcastle, but then they play 4 of the current top 5. If they really do have too much quality, it's about time they started showing it because they haven't so far. I am 99% confident that Burnley will finish above them and stay up. I'm just not sure about Leeds.

My brother's wife is originally from Russia and her father was in the Red Army. Despite not living there for many years, she remains utterly convinced Putin is the Messiah and has been sharing the most horrendous propaganda videos online recently, essentially claiming Ukraine brought it all on themselves.

Couldn't be anything other than Agent Orange, surely? 😉

Anthony Gordon would be a big upgrade on Redmond and probably available for a realistic fee. If they go down they will be in serious financial trouble and will need to sell some major assets sharpish.

I'll be amazed if they're still outside the drop zone after that run.

It's a stretch to claim he was 'right' about it when it's so painfully obvious he's reading a speech written by someone else and stating the bleedin obvious.

They are only a point behind Everton, and they have a manager who has survived numerous relegation battles and knows how to grind out results. Not sure about the new guy at Leeds but they have enough goal threat to win games even if their defence is still crap. Everton are just a mess from front to back. At no point this season have they shown the slightest hint of quality or cohesion. Their attacking play is weak and too easy to defend against, their midfield is lightweight at best, and their back 4 is a shambles. People have been saying for months they are too good to go down, but they just aren't.

Keane is seemingly trying to beat Bednarek's OG record.

I don't know about geological impacts, but well casing failures are alarmingly common (mostly due to cost cutting on the construction materials) and have lead to widespread groundwater contamination and massive methane leaks. The economic and environmental cost of it is just too high to make it a realistic proposal. The level of investment required in infrastructure to begin mass production would be much better directed towards renewables.

Think you might be getting your facts mixed up here. Firstly, ethnic Russians made up less than 40% of the population in Donetsk and Luhansk at the last census. Second, the claim that 14,000 of them have been killed by AZOV is false. The UN puts the total figure of deaths in the conflict at around 13,200, of which over 4,000 were Ukrainian military and nearly 6,000 members of armed separatist groups. I have no love at all for the ideals of the AZOV volunteer force, but to claim their existence / actions is any kind of justification for what is currently happening across Ukraine is just pure Kremlin propaganda.

The general level of competence (or lack of) among the Russian ranks will give Ukraine an advantage though...

You mean apart from having our only shot on target that forced a good save from Martinez?

Not really. Yellow more than sufficient.

Just like that Forster performance at Arsenal, everything was pretty much straight at him. I even managed a similar performance and clean sheet in a local 5-a-side league game not so many years ago. I was embarrassed to get the praise I did afterwards.

Why did that young Boreham Wood fan have a Pompey flag?
