  1. That is an absurd strawman argument, attacking a position I have not claimed and ridiculously over-simplifying a very complicated issue. I thought you were smarter than this Lighthouse.
  2. Don't think anyone is denying there is a link. The dispute here is about the direction of causality. There is a wealth of research data out there that indicates mental health problems among trans people are not an intrinsic part of gender dysphoria itself, but rather a common byproduct caused by social and cultural stressors. But there seems to be one or two people on this thread who dont want to accept that and think their own personal opinion somehow trumps it.
  3. Idiot delivery drivers who seemingly can't understand the simple instruction "press here" on my camera doorbell. I fitted it for a reason, as I have recently built a garden office pod for WFH, but so many of them still just knock and then leave a card when I inevitably don't answer. I know delivery driving isn't exactly a high skilled job, but the ability to use a fucking doorbell should still be a prerequisite FFS.
  4. Absolute bollocks. Why not go and learn about the difference between gender and sex. It's really not that hard to grasp.
  5. I get that, but it's not unprecedented. Using they/them is common when referring to an individual whose identity is unknown, but it does seem a little un-personal to use it when referring to a specific person. But again, that's just a result of how our language was constructed and used in the past, and it will become more normalised over time.
  6. An interesting anecdote, but completely irrelevant. The types of stressors yarp (😉) are referring to aren't comparable to the kind of depression and anxiety triggers experienced by LGBTQ people, especially youths. It's not denial, it's evidence-backed. And that last sentence is just flat out untrue. There has been a lot of research into this area, and all the evidence suggests that LGBTQ people are not inherently prone to suicide risk because of their sexuality or gender identity, but face a higher risk of it as a result of stigmatisation and non-validation in society. 7. Yes, mine arrived on Monday too.
  8. Nobody is forcing you to call them anything. They are asking you to. You can either choose to be respectful to their wishes and agree, or you can choose to be a belligerent prick and refuse. It's entirely up to you.
  9. It's not undeniable, it's just your (severely ill-informed) opinion.
  10. From the NHS website... https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/gender-dysphoria/ All those health issues you cited are just as prevalent among gay and bisexual people as well, but homosexuality isn't considered a mental illness in and of itself. Depression, anxiety and suicidality among LGBTQ+ individuals are well understood to be widely caused by emotional distress brought on by social and cultural issues such as prejudice and victimisation/bullying. So no, they are not merely a coincidence, but they are a symptom of the gender dysphoria rather than a cause of it.
  11. https://www.bbc.com/news/health-48448804 The WHO (and countless other health institutions worldwide including the NHS) don't consider it to be a mental health disorder, but I guess you know better than them, right?
  12. Fuck me. I've seen some ill-informed bollocks posted on this forum over the years, and this is right up there with the very worst of it. I would try and share with you the wealth of information out there which shows that gender dysphoria is not a mental illness, but something tells me you would still find a way to dismiss it because it doesn't fit your world view, so I'm not going to waste my time other than to just say please educate yourself on this issue.
  13. Congratulations on demonstrating spectacular ignorance by dismissing both gender dysphoria and mental illness all in the space of one sentence. No wonder you consider transphobia to be an invented term. Saves you from having to see it in yourself.
  14. Corrected it for you. Bella Ramsey is gender neutral. I get that it's tricky though. A few years back, the poet Kate Tempest came out as gender neutral and changed their name to Kae. I still struggle to remember though, having been so used to thinking of them as a she/her. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but it's hard to change lifelong habits Would be easier if we didn't have separate words for he and she like in other languages (Chinese, for example), then this wouldn't even be an issue.
  15. She'll just have to keep dreaming of seeing that flight take off. Shame.
  16. TBF, the moment they collectively decided that sack of shit would be a good leader was probably when they crossed the point of no return. He only managed to win a GE because of Brexit and because of Corbyn being unelectable. In any other (normal) circumstances he would have led his party to an embarrassing defeat at the polls and a term or two in opposition.
  17. OK but what about the one before that? (and the one before that etc...)
  18. Considering the utter chaos he has caused in Westminster over the last 7 years with his hubristic, ill thought out 'plan' to resolve an internal party division, he should be locked in the Tower of London rather than elevated to the House of Lords.
  19. So your whole argument here is that leaving the EU can't have had an undue impact on trade in goods with the EU because our trade in goods to non-EU countries is also down but by an even greater percentage. While the general gist of that may be true, do you really need me to explain to you why that isn't the massive Brexit win you seem to think it is?
  20. And even if they hadn't, we still would have gone down anyway. I remember going to our game at the Hawthorns that season (when we drew 0-0 after Prutton missed an open goal) and nearly getting frostbite in my toes 🥶
  21. Quite possibly, although not in relation to the current issue I would suppose. I imagine she must create a strange kind of cognitive dissonance in the minds of the knuckle dragging nationalists that she was so obviously trying to incite with her comments about yesterday's protest.
  22. Mad Nad on Laura K this morning (cos she has a book to promote), claiming that the criticism of Braverman is rooted solely in misogyny and sexism. Nothing to do with her being an unhinged, inflammatory charlatan who is unfit for high office then.
  23. Yeah they have had plenty of upheaval since the summer, but they weren't as shit as us to begin with though.
  24. Will be my first game of the season as it's only a short hop on the train for me. Never been to the ground, but I know the town quite well and there's plenty of decent pubs (and some really good local breweries) so it should be a good away day. Their current form isn't good. Only one goal and one point in their last 4 games (0-0 against Watford), so as long as we can find our shooting boots we should beat them. Having said that, it feels like a banana skin type of game for us, but I've been saying that for weeks now and the lads keep proving me wrong so I'm hoping that will continue.
  25. Our GA still looks very poor, it's true. But it's badly skewed because of the stupid amount we shipped in those first 8 games (19). If you look at our record since we lost to Boro at the end of September, we've only conceded 7 in total, managed 2 clean sheets, and the only team to score more than one against us was Preston. Of the teams above us, only Leicester have conceded less over the same period with 5, with Leeds shipping 9 and Ipswich 14 (albeit having played 1 more game).
