He's on it today.

Makes a nice change from last season when we would frequently say "That bench, Jesus!"
-
I rate this window as INSANE.
-
Would be good if the mods could put some of the funnier ones into a split thread and move it to golden posts.

Not for want of trying though. We tried to do a deal for Roberts, and when that fell through late on we tried to hijack the transfer of the Villa lad to Hull. So it wasn't an outright untruth when RM said Tella would be replaced. He just could have worded it better to avoid nitpicky people on Internet forums taking him literally and using our failure to do a deal as a stick to beat him/the club with

But we knew they were leaving at that stage. Or at least JWP and Lavia anyway. So to say they were making the squad stronger when it was inevitable they would leave is erroneous. Their replacements may not be man for man as high level, but the important thing is they want to be here. And in Tino's case, we still have a better player in his position in KWP. So a squad with slightly lesser but motivated players is, IMO, stronger than one with talented individuals whose heads are elsewhere.

I'm sure Che will, because he's a good lad with a great attitude. Not sure about Kamaldeen though

5 mins to go before the window SLAMS shut
-
Exactly. We might have had more talented individuals 2 months ago, but they were part of a squad with a losing mentality that had just been relegated. The squad most definitely wasn't greater than the sum of its parts at that point. Early days still, but in terms of cohesion, motivation etc... I'm inclined to believe that the squad as a whole is probably stronger now than it was then.

Only one more hour to go
-
A clue? We're getting that Swiss bloke from Brighton?
-
He only needs to stay awake for two hours. He's not doing Ironman.
-
Possibly even all three. The two leaving could be Adams and Bednarek.
-
This is it. Much like Yoshida before him, he was signed as backup and ended up becoming first choice by virtue of us selling our better CBs and not replacing them with players of equal quality. The fact he ended up becoming a mainstay of our defence is a damning indictment of our recruitment in recent years.

Back of the net

Tom Cannon going to Leicester on a perm rather than a loan.
-
And no doubt blaming someone else for it.
-
Yep. He may be 'alright' at this level, but he's not the future of the club at all. He's very much one of the reasons we are where we are now, and given the comments he made when he went on loan to Villa, I would be very happy to never see him play for us again.
-
I'm still holding on to the hope that we can palm Bednarek off to someone before the window shuts later.
-
If injuries etc. dictate that we need to call on him, he might be OK at this level. At least against the poorer teams in the division.
