In fairness, you wouldn't necessarily need to break the bank in order to get players significantly better than what we already have. We know that we were looking at Che Adams in January, and he is described as talented but very raw. We didn't meet the asking price but he'll go somewhere for around £20m in the summer. A signing like that is by far a better long term option than either Long or Austin, and is not a huge sum of money in today's market. I guess it all hinges on us getting decent-ish fees for Cedric, Hoedt, Carillo and/or Boufal (who I still believe could be of some use to us in Ralph's system next season if we can't offload him).

I think we need to replace our entire strike force in the summer, with the only exception being Ings but then his injury record makes him unreliable too. Just looking back through our results and Long's goal against Leicester is still the only one scored by one of our strikers so far in 2019

Not quite. On GD Brighton should be above Bournemouth.
-
And then do a Saints special and concede a 93rd minute equaliser.
-
That much has been obvious since August, but he was hopeless today.
-
Poor dad. What happened?
-
Yes, it was Armstrong, not Sims. They do look kinda similar though.
-
People are saying they should have had two red cards. The foul on Sims was one - what was the other? Was it the little skirmish between Redmond and Sissoko? I didn't see that properly as I was a bit distracted.
-
We leapfrog Burnley, who are away at Liverpool tomorrow.
-
Incredible comeback. Should stick Valery and JWP up front for the next game!
-
Unbelievable that we didn't get a FK for that high boot on Sims. Actually, no it's totally believable.
-
They haven't won yet.
-
After today, Cardiff still have to play 4 of the top 6. We only have to play one of them. That's what I'm clinging on to anyway.
-
Fcks sake. West Ham picked a terrible game (from our perspective) to have one of their off-days.
-
First thing Sims does is hit a shot on target. First thing Long does is mis-control the ball and give it away.
-
Amazing we're still in it really. Could easily be 4-0 down. We need more threat up front. Once again, Redmond is being expected to carry it all on his own. Austin offers nothing and needs to be replaced at HT if we're gonna find a way back into this.

Gutted. RIP Keith. It feels like a huge part of my youth has died with him. I can still remember the excitement I felt hearing Everybody in the Place for the first time at what was then the Escape club as a teenager in 1992. The Prodigy are utterly unique in the way they appealed to both ravers and metal heads in equal measure, and Keith's on-stage persona was a huge influencing factor in that.

Yeah that's my understanding too. If someone makes a genuine challenge but mis-times it and fouls the attacker then it's not a straight red, but a deliberate foul to deny a goalscoring opportunity is. That's why the ref bottled giving us the pen IMO. If he does then he knows he also has to send off Smalling, and no ref is ever going to do that after 10 minutes at OT.
-
So who would you pit in ahead of Redmond at the moment then? Seriously, who else in our squad is capable of performing better than he is at the moment?
-
Are you for real? Redmond was by far our MOTM today. And the defence has got a lot better since Yoshida came back in for the unreliable Stephens.

Oh well. Didn't expect to get anything beforehand, and the pressure we were under in the first 5 minutes I thought it was going to be a long afternoon. So to play well and get within a minute or two of drawing was a nice surprise. Yes, it's annoying that we gave away yet another late goal, but Man U have done that to better teams than us recently, and it's not like it was a horrific mistake that lead to the goal - it was a brilliant turn and finish from a tight space and you can't really point the finger of blame at anyone in our defence. Lukaka just loves scoring against us it seems - 8 goals in 12 games! I thought Redmond was brilliant but he can't do it all on his own. We need Ings back badly cos Austin was once again completely ineffective. I thought Armstrong did well when he came on. Two very good goals - Valery's especially. Terrible refereeing. Had he given us at least one of those penalties in the first half it could/would have been a very different story. And it was inevitable he would give one to Man U after the slightest touch. Probably the right call - was clever from Rashford to stick his leg out and make sure that Armstrong contacted with him instead of the ball, but where's the consistency? If he gives that he has to give the ones in our favour as well. Very poor. At least we marginally increased our gap on Cardiff by way of goal difference.
-
Not really. Armstrong was committed to kicking the ball away and Rashford just stuck his leg out to make sure he contacted with him instead. It was no more or less a foul than either of the ones he didn't give to us in the first half.

Offside?

HT. Never expected us to be in the lead and we've rode our luck a little. But v happy right now - especially with Cardiff 2-0 down. This ref though. Words can't describe how much contempt I am holding him in right now. The last time I saw a refereeing display so blatantly biased it was on Escape to Victory.
