So you're dismissing the petition due to the potential for foreign interference in the result, and that's fine. But if you're going to do that, then you also need to consider the well-evidenced widescale foreign interference in the 2016 referendum as well. There was an hour-long piece on the dark money and electoral fraud that went into the Leave campaign on German TV yesterday, which paints a very dire picture of the validity of the result. But I have yet to encounter a single leave voter who is willing to even acknowledge it, let alone accept that it might have influenced the result. No, it's always - "we would have won anyway" or "we won, you lost - get over it". Edit: You only have to look at how widely the petition is being shared on social media, and how passionately some people are promoting it, to see that there is genuine large scale engagement. There may well have been a few bots involved, but this has become the most viral thing I have seen for many years.

Serious revolt? In good old Blighty? I very much doubt it. There's no appetite for that sort of thing in this country, we're far too passive to take to the streets like they do in France. There will be a bit of unrest, and a few people will get arrested, and it will all blow over in time for people to get home and watch the bake-off.

Maybe you should explain that to the MPs complaining that they can't have a third chance to vote for May's awful deal. Anyway, it's not about keeping on asking until you get the 'right' answer. It's about having a further vote now that there is so much more information available that wasn't even discussed in the run-up to the referendum. I don't recall a single mention of the Irish border problem by either campaign, and yet it is now the biggest single obstacle to Brexit. People were told that we hold all the cards, that negotiating our exit would be the easiest deal in history, that there were no considerable downsides to Brexit, and that it would only lead to sunlit uplands. Now that it has been demonstrated beyond any shadow of doubt how misleading all this was, the British public should absolutely be given the opportunity to go to the polls again before we commit ourselves to the biggest (potentially disastrous) constitutional change in the modern history of this country that will have repercussions for generations to come. If those who voted leave are so certain that the original referendum result was fair, above board and the correct result, then there is no good reason I can see why they would oppose having another one now that we have so many more facts available to us. To claim it is 'undemocratic' is erroneous, and IMO is just a simple get-out to avoid having to properly justify opposition to the idea without admitting that they are terrified Remain might win this time.

I'm not so sure I agree. He's no slouch and he is technically gifted. He didn't look the part under Pellegrino, but neither did Redmond, and he is thriving now under Ralph. I would like to see if he can have the same effect on Boufal, because if he can then we would have some player on our hands, like a new signing with no fee.

Do you think that many people who voted to leave in the referendum would be at all bothered to vote for an MEP if we ended up staying in long enough for the elections? Turnout for the EU elections has always been pretty low IIRC. But if Brexit ends up not happening, I imagine that remainers would be highly motivated to get out in numbers and vote for a pro-EU candidate. I also imagine that many leavers, based on the attitudes that I have encountered in people that I have engaged with, would be less bothered. All just conjecture on my part of course.

You only have to look at the comments section of a Britain First Facebook post to see just how truly hateful and ignorant people can be. Guilty of what though? That's the key question here. It's all very well saying she's guilty by association, but we should be very clear about what she should actually be charged with if she ever returns to the UK. I have no time for this girl. I find her extreme views and her expressions of support for the Manchester arena attacker very distasteful indeed. But, like it or not, our laws apply to everyone equally (unless you're an MP and/or extremely rich and can buy your own justice, of course). I don't want her coming back to Britain to spread her hate-filled bile, but what concerns me perhaps even more is the idea that our government can arbitrarily decide what laws should and should not apply to her, and dish out summary justice because the pitch-fork brigade demand it. Being fair to Sadoldgit, I read that as meaning that he is more concerned about the threat that her husband poses to our security, rather than showing more compassion towards him. Where does this idea come from regarding Boufal? I know he comes across as a selfish player on the pitch, but all the noises I have heard suggest that he was actually quite well liked by most of the other players. Does it all stem from the way he celebrated that goal against WBA in Pellegrino's face? I agree that was not acceptable behaviour, but that is something that *could* be coached out of him. If we don't sell him in the summer then I would be happy to see if RH can get something like the best out of him because he is clearly a very talented player.

So you think that a red card should mean the team gets to make an instant substitution and keep it at 11v11, but a yellow should mean 5 minutes of being down to ten men? That doesn't make any sense to me. A 5 minute sin-bin for a yellow card could work, but not allowing a substitution for a red. Imagine how many players would "take one for the team" knowing full well there is someone on the bench ready to come on in their place. That would just encourage professional fouls and deliberate handballs to prevent almost certain goals even more, surely?
