My brother reports that it has been much quieter today. Over the weekend they could hear the drones flying overhead but there's been none today. Still no confirmation of what's happening with the funeral though 😥
  2. No, none of us do. Which is why it's so utterly fucking stupid to be making suggestions like she must be ok if she's going to award ceremonies.
  3. Fair. I had a mate who grew up in Hedge End but supported Man U. Every time he got ribbed about it he would reply that it was because his dad was a lifelong fan. My response to that was always: "and if your dad was a lifelong fan of Scunthorpe or Grimsby Town, who would you support then?" Needless to say, he never had an answer to that.
  4. What the fuck does that even mean? Are you suggesting that anyone with any kind of mental illness should just lock themselves up at home and never go out in public? Ever? What fucking century are you living in?

Terrified, that's how they're feeling. My 10 year old nephew lost his mum to cancer on Thursday they are supposed to be burying her in Wednesday but the church, along with many other public spaces, has been closed. He's shut himself in his room crying continuously, because on top of just having lost his mum to cancer, his home country (he was born in Bahrain and it's the only home he has ever known) is on fucking fire. I should be in the departure lounge right now, on my way to support my brother through an incredibly difficult time for him. But instead I'm sat here at home feeling absolutely helpless, constantly checking the news and waiting for updates to confirm they are still safe. My brother is trying to get a funeral arranged for his wife, while at the same time trying to reassure his son that everything is okay despite the fact that they can hear the fucking explosions from their apartment. It's utterly fucked.
  6. We already tried our best to get knocked out by Leicester. The management will be pissed if we manage to fuck it up and win again.
  7. The Zombie/James Bree song is embarrassingly shit.
  8. That rant was hilarious. One of the reasons he cited for not posting anymore? Public sector workers posting during 'working' hours 🤣 Apparently it's never once occurred to him that not all of us in the public sector work 9-5 Monday to Friday, or that we are allowed to take breaks.
  9. I'd love to see the look on the steward's face if I tried to take one of those into SMS.
  10. Gonna get pelters for this, but... I don't hate Pompey.

Unlike him to exaggerate. He's usually so calm and measured with his words.

Just watching him on LK show. He quite clearly isn't siding with the Iranian regime, just questioning if the events of the last few days are really the best course of action for the world and for the people of Iran. He's got a valid point. Us following Bush into Iraq was an absolute clusterfuck and he's obviously keen to avoid the UK being dragged into another similar situation. But yes, I agree with Whelk that he shows incredible naivety as well. He claimed that Trump was negotiating in bad faith - which he clearly was - but you'd have to be a fucking idiot to believe that Iran weren't as well.

Defence Secretary on LK show refusing to be drawn on whether or not he thinks the strikes on Iran were within international law.

The problem we have now with the rise of AI is that the Iranian regime could produce a totally convincing video to 'prove' that the Ayatollah is still alive.

  18. Just got home. Meh, not an inspiring performance. Lots of Martin-esque passing around with very little intensity. But we played well enough to beat a very poor side so job done. Larin had a few good moments but his touch is poor. Should have got that shot on target in the first half. Manning was fine, because he had very little defending to do on his side so was able to link up well with Leo, who had a fairly quiet game. Edozie was fairly bright when he came on but really should have done better with that chance or squared it. Poor. Archer... Jeez. I actually feel sorry for the guy in many ways. He's basically just doing a Downs impression now and it's painful to watch.
  19. Every. Fucking. Time.
  20. Barely got out of second gear and just cruising. They've got no threat up front but it would be very Saintsy to concede a comedy goal to let them back in it. Hopefully a few more goals in the second half. Seems every away game I go to, we fall apart after HT and all the action unfolds up the other end.

Bear in mind that we only have the word of the Iranian regime that this even happened. With no foreign journalists allowed in the country, it can't be independently verified.
  22. Not much in the way of away fan friendly ones near the ground. Your best bet is to stay in the centre and then jump on a yellow route tram towards Middlewood which stops right near the stadium.

My brother lives in Bahrain, and two days ago his wife died from cancer. Last night I booked flights for Monday for my nephew and me to go over for her funeral. My brother has messaged to say the government has issued shelter in place alerts as the US naval base there has now been hit in retaliation by Iran. He's been sent pictures of explosions at the base from friends who live near there. Needless to say, I won't now be travelling.

Of course it was. The negotiations were quite obviously just a sham, intended only to give them some semblance of moral justification. Very few people, not even most Iranians, would mourn the overthrow of the Ayatollahs. But we've been here before with Iraq, and we all know full well the motivations of Trump/Netenyahu are not as pure and altruistic as they want us to believe.
