So th burning question now is... How much will we get for Scienza in the summer?
-
Oh my.

I was just gonna post this but you beat me to it. Whichever way you look at this, he doesn't exactly come out if it with any credit. Either he's saying that the players did their absolute best so Still's sacking us 100% self inflicted, or he's just coming across as a bit of a snowflake because he doesn't like the criticism from the fans. Fucking own it Ryan. Show a bit of humility and admit that you and your team mates haven't done enough on the pitch this season instead of crying that it's not fair and blaming it all on Still. With this on top of his total lack of professionalism at Derby that lead to their equaliser, he's rapidly becoming one of my most disliked Saints players ever. I really look forward to the day I never have to watch him play for us again.

Redmond possibly joining Wednesday as a free agent... https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-wednesday/sheffield-wednesday-nathan-redmond-southampton-5405435

I agree that would have been the obvious move. But this is SR we're talking about. Expecting them to take the obvious, sensible option is like believing in Santa Claus.

Seems that the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree with Jude Bellendingham. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/nov/16/thomas-tuchel-jude-bellingham-england-abania-world-cup-qualifier

Wasn't there some weird internet craze a few years ago where people were actually eating dishwasher pods?

All Systems are Lying. New album from Soulwax. Gets better with every listen.

While this is undoubtedly true, there is a world of difference between innocent mistakes and deliberate cover-ups that go right to the top.

It is precisely this approach to recruitment that has got us into this ridiculous mess in the first place. Whether it's players or managers, gambling on young, inexperienced people in the hope that they might turn out to be decent is, as SR have proven beyond any doubt since they took control of SFC, not a sustainable way to run a successful club. If you are happy for us to just keep on repeating the same mistakes over and over, and expect a strategy that has failed time and time again to finally come good, then that's entirely your prerogative of course. But we are crying out for a different approach IMO. I bear no ill will towards Eckert. He may well go on to become a decent manager one day. But, just like Will Still was, he is absolutely the wrong man at the wrong time for this club right now.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Sheaf Saint replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
One of them was one long, continuous, cringe worthy car crash of a moment. And the other one was Liz fucking Truss! -
No, just idiots who couldn't be bothered to spell his name properly. On that note, we currently seem to have a handful of posters or more who think our interim manager is called Tonda Eckhart.
-
Don't forget the world class catering and radio station.

Over the phone? 🤔
-
Or, just to be certain, we should get the guys from Lead By Donkeys to project it onto the front of SMS.

Two were down to individual skill, one was a howler from the opposition keeper and another looked suspiciously offside. So, again, what in the overall performances stood out for you as being better than what we could have done under Still?
-
I said in the performances.
-
And did you see us under Tonda? Genuine question - what did you see in the performances of those two games to make you think he's a better manager? Because from what I saw we were every bit as bad as we were at any point under Still.

The only senior players who were here for the majority of Ralph's tenure (discounting those who signed in the summer before he was sacked) are, by my reckoning, Stephens and McCarthy. And if reappointing him hastens their exit because they don't like him then I'm all in favour of that.
-
They do. We don't.
-
I'd say that's infinitely more likely. When Frank was promoted from within at Brentford, he was simply following an established model that had already brought them success and he brought continuity to that. The people pointing to that example as evidence that it might work with Eckert appear to be ignoring the fact that what we need right now is the opposite of continuity from the previous setup, otherwise sacking Still was just a pointless, knee-jerk reaction. We need someone to come in and make an instant positive change to our playing style and coaching setup, and Eckert is absolutely not that person, regardless of what potential he might have.
-
And their dog is called TED! That can't be a coincidence 🤔
-
No, I'm assuming incompetence based on the extensive evidence of their total mismanagement of the club over the best part of four years. In case you haven't been paying attention, this "greatest era in our history" that you promised us has still yet to materialise. Or was it a typo and you actually meant to say greatest error in our history?
-
I'm not doubting you Nolan, I'm sure you are passing this on in good faith. In other circumstances I would say this sounds way too ridiculous to be true. No competent owners would ever allow this kind of thing to influence such a critical decision. But therein lies the problem. Anything is possible with these clowns in charge.
