Well, that's not true. I just agree with those who adhere to my current political position. Close members of my family have invariously voted for different parties(from Thatcher to Kennedy to Blair). Only one member of my immediate family who is old enough to have voted in more than 1 general election has ever voted for the same party at EVERY election, and she grew up in a Welsh mining town and votes tribally I believe. I am open minded, but I just have an opinion at the moment, which may or may not change in the future

In fairness, you don't know what Britain wants as you aren't Britain. What we need is a referendum to decide that! And if changes such as these are put in place, then the time is probably right for it. The only thing is, if we want to continue with the trade benefits we have, but not a lot of the other stuff, that won't do. To be part of that trade club if you like they'll want us to follow the same rules they do, so in reality not a lot would change even if you got your way(assuming what you want is out of the EU, but negotiate a trade position)

I guess they could say, the fiscal union doesn't include us so we don't need a vote. But that's a stupid attitude, the fact there would be a fiscal union within the EU obviously changes our relationship with the EU. As we would be dealing with a definite bloc, as opposed to 17 fiscally independent countries. They'll worm out of it, look stupid and then everyone will probably have forgotten in 4 years time and will vote conservative/labour/lib dems all over again. Hurray for 2.5 party systems!

I sort of get your point. Once one does it, it may get easier. I sort of see this analogy in my own personal life from my experience at school and college. When the first person if you like(who happened to be a close friend of mine) came out, it was big news(some didn't like it, most weren't horrible as people our age are generally okish with this kind of stuff, but people certainly discussed it a lot at first. It was 'news' in other words. The hardest part is actually family life rather than school life.). However, as time went on and others came out, it wasn't so discussed or cared about... possibly because of the first one breaking the barrier. Though, I think it is a lot harder for footballers of the next generation up who aren't so nice about homosexuality and have certain views(which will eventually die out I think, as generations go on). Justin Fashanu was the first and only one to do it and he got tonnes of abuse, his brother disowned him, people publicly barracked him and his career took a nose dive. I think footballers just think, what is the point? Why have the extra hassle... I don't think it is easy though, coming out is never easy for anyone and its made worse when it isn't just friends and family who'll know, but the whole country.

I don't think he seriously meant that. I think he was over exaggerating to make a point regarding one of your posts. As was I in the first line of my post following your inexperience attack on me the other day. Like I said before, plenty of professions do good work and none has absolute morality over another. Cancer researchers do a great job though, and there have been some very exciting developments recently and I think the next 20 years will be interesting. The one thing that ****es me off about research, and that includes cancer, HIV, malaria, whatever it is, is the way money infects it. Research groups don't share results and resources because they are all hoping to get the cash at the end. That's why I admire Bill Gates donations to many research charities as he has made them sign contract before giving out the money that they must share results and resources.

Hmmmm, I'd need to look into the plans in more detail, but if proper integration was done, it would probably be time to decide what we want with our relationship with Europe. Do we want to be in or out, because straddling inbetween when the eurozone effectively forms a federal state will leave us outside. But that all depends on how the rules are drawn up, and I doubt many people would understand them when they are drawn up. Most people have difficultly understanding the difference between the ECJ and the ECHR, let alone the workings of the EU in the present or the future. A eurozone federal state would certainly be powerful though, politically and financially. Moving in unison, they could challenge the US and China, especially if the rest of Europe joined in. But if a Federal State is created, I think we then need a referendum to decide what we want to do.

You've had the experience. Therefore, you must be right and now JackanorySFC must cede his right to an opinion. That seems to be his attitude anyways! Which charity do you run? If I may ask... For what it is worth, I volunteer at my local hospice and work with terminally ill cancer patients during this. The staff are brilliant and so is the hospice's work(and I'm proud to be apart of that), but anyone in most professions can be brilliant in different ways. No career has a moral monopoly!

I'm bothered about anyone being hacked. It's the thinking that celebrities are 'fair game', that leads to even more reprehensible acts such as the Milly Dowler one. We can't have a two tier system of rights.

What was offered in return for them stopping the South Coast Club nickname? Was it just that we let them in, and if it was why didn't they gloat? What did Cortese say or give to make them drop it without even explicitly saying so?

Where are you at now then? Also, what were you when you were at the Sun?

Do you work at the Sun then?

That took me a while to work out! It's been a long week!

Well, no... it's not. But I don't think you can really understand how hard it is for gay people to come out. It is a very big deal, especially of a man at his age. I know friends who have been suicidal in the months after coming out(due to peoples reactions)... and that's even with a few supportive friends behind them and at a reasonably young age. For a 42 year old in a marriage, I can't imagine what could have been going through his mind. If it is true of course, we have no idea.

I don't understand your point! If he is homosexual, he may or may not have had male partners at one point or another, either present or past...

But on this, Steve de Ridder seems like a nice bloke and a laugh... and he's not too bad on the pitch either!

Well, Brighton had 5 yellows and a red. Could have been more! Will be interesting to see how pompey fare.

The Express, The Mail, The Sun, The People, The Mirror and all the tabloids need to have a serious look at themselves. Though hopefully, the leveson enquiry will get to the bottom of their ethics over the past few years.

I heard this too and that the papers were going to out him. If it's true it's despicable, and our press should once again hang their heads in shame.

The 'outcry' is going a bit far now. It's not as if he was serious. He's a ****, but he doesn't actually believe what he said... though some people seem to think he did. He could have said it on a better programme though, the one show audience would be familyish wouldn't it? Sent from my HTC Hero using Tapatalk

He's a massive cock basically. But he can be allowed to be such.
-
He should be able to say what he wants, and I have no problem with him saying what he wants. But is what he said constructive and responsible in the slightest? No.

Just saw my brother today, having to now pay in substantially more for a much smaller pension. -

I have never proclaimed to be an expert on anything, like you I merely give my opinion. I say it is you being the agressive one with your views. You seem to assume everyone should take your position. However, I am aware I know nothing of the world and have achieved virtually nothing as most people haven't, but that does not mean I should not able to contribute. You know nothing of my life and experience of 'the system', but what I can tell you is I do try to learn as much as I can when I can. If you want to actually know more about me, then ask and I can say at least then you may understand where I am coming from, even if I am young. For what it is worth, I have voted(for Liberal Democrats and I will continue to for now), have paid tax(though admittedly not much! My current job is low paid and I am restricted in hours I can work by voluntary commitments, but I'll leave that job in august), but I have not been made redundant or struggled to pay council tax and so on. However, I have seen the effects of recession on my friends and family, believe you me. The recession has affected nearly every single place in the UK, so don't think you are alone there. I'm very happy that you have a good homelife and that your girlfriend did well in her degree and I'm sad that that is how she felt. However, while I say I have little experience of what you talk of(paying council tax etc), I don't think age is the only factor in experience. -

K. Don't know why you are getting wound up, you don't have to read anything on here and your opinions are not that special either(unless you have studied the economy and its workings in depth for years, in which case I apologise). Can not be bothered anymore anyways. People take their thoughts far too seriously on what is as you say a football website.
