  1. I heard on the Grapevine a few weeks back we were interested in him. Make of that what you will.
  2. Oh, I'd love it if this somehow infected the Daily Mail as well.
  3. We are in need of a striker though. One that is proven at Championship level.
  4. Yer, I just saw that, sorry. I think the real issue is how much did Cameron know, because allegedly he was warned by many people, including Nick Clegg that this appointment should not be pursued. He is Prime Minister/Leader of the Opposition and should so take extra care with the people he places next to him.
  5. It's not really just guilt by association anymore. He has been arrested and there are emails showing he authorised payments to police. Even if this evidence didn't exist, which it does, you still have to also wonder what the **** he was doing when this stuff was happening systematically under his editorship. Edit: Ignore that post, I misread yours.
  6. The motivations are obviously to damage Murdoch or maybe just to do the right thing. As it is mainly the Guardian who have been driving this story, I suggest it is the former. I hardly think it matters though, as these revelations are clearly in the public interest. All the illegal practices must be fully investigated and those responsible brought to justice. Murdoch will have no role in instigating this affair. It's in his interests that none of this came to light, especially at this time. Either way, the truth will out.
  7. You have no idea. The Murdoch's are at risk of being arrested, yes... arrested... within the USA. Their BskyB deal is down the toilet, their whole company is at risk and its value is falling day by day. Their influence in UK politics is also diminished. Do you really think they instigated this?
  8. Anyone who thinks that News Corp. are deliberately releasing all this stuff as part of some plan to improve their business is a nutter.
  9. Also, interesting take from someone today on Rebecca Brooks still being in the job. Said that perhaps they are holding on to her for a bit longer so when the even worse stuff comes out, there is someone there to take the attack and resign, thus protecting the Murdoch's. Sometimes, I think though it is best just to resign now, rather than let your whole company fall to bits one by one day by day slowly moving up the ranks.
  10. Indeed, I have Buffalo medals from the 1920's and 30's from what I believe to be my Great-Grandad, possibly one generation further back than that... I forget! Anyways, he served in WW1. Anyways, back on topic. This has so much further to go. The Independent had a nice little article asking if this could be our Watergate and it does get you wondering... just how far are our governments up to their necks in this; I suggest quite far. Bets are already going on David Cameron's resignation, though for now I suggest that is wishful thinking.
  11. I love the Arctic Monkeys. All their stuff is ****ing brilliant. All 4 albums are different and to be honest that is the only way to stay great, change your style as you move through albums. All the best bands have done it. Alex Turner is a genius, I like the Last Shadow Puppets as well and has anyone heard Alex Turners solo EP for Submarine?
  12. I also applied and did not get in which is a shame for pretty much the same reasons. Shirley Williams is incredible.
  13. Due to its connection to Clive Goodman who works there currently.
  14. Renault have pulled all advertising from all News International papers.
  15. No we don't. Just interested in stopping morally abhorrent practices. I have no issue with the Telegraph... generally a very decent paper written intelligently. The Sun, Daily Mail, Daily Star, Daily Mirror, Daily Express and well you get the idea are all moronic. I don't object to a well thought out opinion that is opposite to mine as is expressed in the Telegraph for example, but I do object to the reactionary irrational ****e that appears in the red and black tabloids.
  16. True, but none the less, bigger than the £20m they set aside originally. Could actually make a dent. But this isn't really about money. I just hope people see through this end of the NOTW gimmick for what it is and also pile pressure on the Sun on Sunday.
  17. And a 7 day sun is confirmed. What a ****ing joke.
  18. 4,000 people have been hacked apparently... minimum. Each so far has been getting around £100,000 in compensation. Imagine if that was repeated across the board. That's £400m.
  19. That's probably what will happen, though maybe not immediately. Give it a few months to die down and what not. That's unless the Sun is also affected by association.
  20. The News of the World is over.
  21. The news of the world has a circulation of 2,700,000... I don't know how many readers that would translate too, but lets just say 6,000,000ish max readers. That leaves 54,000,000 who don't buy it at all. Perhaps those most outraged do not buy the newspaper anyways, so circulation figures may not be dented. A lot of people who read the NOTW won't follow the news properly anyways.
  22. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14052690 The ex-NOTW reporter really does come across as a slimy git.
  23. Exactly. To be honest, and I have thought this for years, it's about time our government severed links with News International. For bloody years, whichever party won, Murdoch came in as well. The amount of power and influence he has been allowed is disgraceful considering what his organisation has been up to.
  24. Allegedly there is evidence that Andy Coulson authorised payments to the police now. This just gets bigger and bigger and Cameron is up to his neck in it.
  25. I did not win
