Heard good things about Ward-Prowse.

Midfield is great. Defence is largely fine: could perhaps do with another central defender(replace Jaidi if he is passed it? Though judging by recent performances, might not be necessary! Though I'm not entirely sure on Seabourne's quality yet... so central defender.) Up front: Could do with another addition, Connolly won't last another season and also just isn't good enough in my opinion, especially in the Championship.

The treasury said the next election wouldn't have costed anymore under AV than it would have done under FPTP... FACT. And jesus... you want to go for a system that is broken and unfair, where you can increase share of the vote and have representation go down, where the majority of people are represented by someone they didn't vote for? And for what.... a cheaper system. HURRAY FOR DEMOCRACY.

I was talking about a referendum on PR. That would win hands down... which is why Cameron didn't allow it.

I quite liked the players being up in that little area below the directors seats.

No, I heard overheard my Neighbour's dog saying that Chamberlain was definitely leaving so I think that's that settled.

Not true, if there is another hung parliament next election or perceived injustice it will come straight back. I simply can not see a situation where(if trends continue and that is in the balance right now with the Lib Dems on 15% last night) only 65% of people vote for the two main parties, to have a system which favours two party politics. I just don't see how anyone can be truly happy with a system where you can increase your share of the vote, but decrease your representation! The electoral reform battle WILL go on.

Yes, but in Australia the geographical challenges are much greater. In the end, I do not care if I have to wait a few more hours for results if they are fairer.
-
That's not the point I'm making. I'm sure hundreds of thousands voted against AV because of Clegg, but my point is what a crap reason that is! He has nothing to do with whether AV is better than FPTP at all.
-
This has nothing to do with Clegg.

Sums it up well. I do wonder what depth the SNP have below Alex Salmond... he is incredibly popular, way more so than anyone else in his party.
-
Scottish national elections are different to general elections. The problem was Labours leader ****e campaign and Alex Salmonds corresponding popularity. Laboru kept its core vote, it just didn't sweep up the Lib Dem collapse.
-
Scotland is interesting though. Labour didn't have such a terrible night as first thought. The Lib Dem vote collapsed and went entirely to the SNP; Labours failure was to not be able to sweep up those votes. I think at the next general election or next year it will be different. The Lib Dems have done dreadful in Northern England, but have held up much better in the south where they are already established. I think the real test will be next years locals.

I don't believe counters are paid by the hour. They are paid by session. Taking longer won't mean more cost. And the extra time is barely any at all and who cares if it takes an hour extra, 30 minutes extra... this is for a better democracy!

http://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/the-staggers/2011/05/campaign-figure-blunkett David Blunkett has admitted they made up the figures to scare people! Number 1: It won't cost anything until 2015. Number 2: It won't cost anymore to run elections under AV, as compared to FPTP as already confirmed by the treasury. The idea we will need to buy electronic counting machines for £130m is laughable. Also, remember we spend £345m on health in this country EVERY day... so even if it did cost the amount the amount the no campaign now admit to be a lie, it is barely a drop in the ocean of our finances and a good price for a fairer democracy. However, as it happens, it doesn't actually cost any extra so there we are.

Ahhhhh, the latest thread to be resurrected from the pits of the archives. -
The majority of people in this country are represented by an MP they didn't vote for.

Wow, John Humphreys schooled David Cameron.

Yer, who wants constructive discussion when we can just hurl insults at each other and have banterous discussions? You ****.
