Yes, but that public debt is still lower than most major developed countries. For example France and Germany have debt in the region of 70-80% and lets not even talk about Japan and Italy! The debt and deficit did not exist! In fact our national debt was declining year on year until the financial crisis. At that point, Labour made the ideological decision to spend through the recession to ensure we didn't collapse(i.e bailing out the banks... can you imagine what would have happened if hadn't done that?). It was NOT because of a decade of over spending that caused this. For example in 2001/02 our deficit was £1.8 billion and debt was falling.

One quarter away from this now. -0.5% last quarter... yes the bad weather played a part, but we would have been stagnant at 0.0% without it. Unemployment is on the rise as well, I think Labour were right... no? Remember, debt and the deficit was lower under Labour than when they came to power until the financial crisis. The deficit and the debt we had appeared because of the financial crisis. I say cut, but slower and raise tax slightly(e.g 50% income tax band from £100,000), then let the economy grow back to where it was and we'll be even again.

This thread is hilarious. Hilariously sad as well.

But that's a stand against discrimination for all the wrong reasons!
-
To clarify my points. - All discrimination is wrong, yet sexism seems to be considered as an acceptable form of discrimination(which it isn't). - It happens a LOT at football grounds. I bet there was tonnes of similar abuse from the crowds during the game. - Yet nothing seems to be done about it nearly all the time. If you are going to punish these two, you need to start punishing those who shout stuff at games, or is that ridiculous?
-
If they come down on this this hard, then they have to crack down on all the other abuse that referees get. Literally, it is just football banter, people pick out something, anything and then start joking about it. It's part of the game. Then again, it is strange how discrimination like racism is not acceptable but discrimination like sexism is considered to be fine when really they are the same thing. Edit: Just incase someone thinks from this post I am advocating racist abuse, I am not.

Do you think empires are justified then? Do you think that anything should be done to uphold the empire even against the people's will? What is your opinion on say... Amritsar?

The average History graduate doesn't go on to stack shelves at Tesco. You are simply creating imaginary extreme examples to suit yourself. You can't just make sweeping statements and then declare your victory.

I do love how Dune thinks he is more knowledgable on history than people who have degrees in it and have spent their lives dedicated to finding out what really happened. He just wants everyone to be taught the 'dune version of history' rather than the truth. 'THE BRITISH EMPIRE ONLY DID GOOD' just about sums it up.

I say keep him and just don't play him. For the lols.
-
So, Dune... as an expert on the current curriculum, can you tell me which parts are biased? And also, how?
-
Without Lallana, we will be destroyed(perhaps). If we had had Lallana might have got a goal.
-
I agree. Time to give him a go again.
-
Basically, we miss Lallana. Remember last time we had a bad run, Lallana was injured.

3 teams below us all within 3 points with a game in hand.

Sounds a lot like David Cameron and George Osbourne minus the lisp... if I am totally honest! Ed Balls will rip George Osborne to shreds in the commons, he is a formidable opponent, he killed Michael Gove in parliament while he was shadow education. He knows the economy's ins and outs well, this is good news for Labour.
-
It is a massive shame Johnson has gone. He was one of the few front bench politicians with a real life before politics. He had a harsh upbringing from a working class background, whether you agree with him or not we need more people from that background in parliament so parliament better represents society.

All the toryboys saying the personal reasons were a charade sure look like ****s now.

"Customer Service" in this country is absolutely dreadful
Saintandy666 replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
1. Good customer service is not launching yourself on everyone with over the top fake cheeriness and then initiating chat about ****. Some people don't want to speak and you have to judge that. 2. Some customers are miserable rude dicks and so don't deserve good service. The end. -
Oxlade Chamerlain.

That is in fairness a very good point. I was just focusing on our economic growth. There needs to be about 3 billion less people in the world at least. Then, maybe then, everyone can live their lives to a higher standard without it being unsustainable.

I don't accept this point that avoiding tax costs 20% of income. The overall tax receipts would collapse. We'd be ****ed.

Chinese fighter 'has changed power balance'
Saintandy666 replied to Saint in Paradise's topic in The Lounge
Dune doesn't respond to fact. -
We don't want to make it ridiculously hard to consider to have Children. Because then, the birth rate would go down ALOT and then we'd all be ****ed, though perhaps not literally.
-
Well, this isn't true. Why would these people pay 20% when they can still pay nothing at all?
