  1. Senegal! Literally at the bottom... but I am quite skinny. 6ft 2 and a BMI of 19ish.
  2. Hmmmm, not in stock at the moment it says. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Buffalo-MiniStation-Portable-Hard-Drive/dp/B004R94010/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1342177451&sr=8-6 I was looking at that one, but I was hoping for closer to 60 than to 80. USB 3.0 on that on too.
  3. So I have a tonne of pictures and videos on my pc from down the years that is really slowing it down and I need to back them all up too. Can anyone recommend a decent external hard drive? Looking for 1TB. Thanks!
  4. Whereas everyone elsewhere has been entirely honest and good throughout the past economic cycle!
  5. I think it either needs to go one of two ways. Either as you say, break up(and maybe by extension the the whole of the EU afterwards) or closer political union and for them to follow the rules this time. I think the latter would lead to a more stable future, but I really don't think the Eurozone staying together or breaking up will affect us as much as people think in the long term(decade). We need growth and for that we need stimulus and so far the private sector has failed to do it.
  6. And Boris uses that mass appeal to get away with his bungling and to disguise his politics.
  7. In 2015, public spending will be 42% of GDP... to add some context. In 1997, it was 37%. Though obviously, with the recession and extra labour spending the pot is much smaller than it was a few years ago. It'll still be £733bn(off the top of my head) in 2015. The way out of this mess is growth.
  8. Source?
  9. I'll warrant you in sport(football really, because of historic divisions). I thought you meant Scottish people in general are bitter.
  10. And that is just silly. My family are Scottish and are certainly not bitter or anti-english and neither are their friends. It's all in their heads.
  11. He really isn't a bad guy as people make out.
  12. Federer is incredible. Murray just short on the day. Must be devastating for Murray. Such a shame, but he will move on and he has many more chances, next up Olympics and then his favoured hard courts.
  13. Whatever happens now, Murray has had a fantastic tournament.
  14. My Grandad had exactly the same operation at 72(don't know how old Whitey Grandad is), but he has made a brilliant recovery and is stronger than ever. Modern medicine is fantastic. I hope he pulls through and returns to full health.
  15. Given my contributions to this thread, I don't think it would surprise anyone.
  16. I play tennis. I thought that would be fairly evident by now!
  17. Day tickets. Not sure exactly how much they cost, but I don't think it is too much for a big standard ordinary ticket, just you either have to be very lucky in a draw or camp out the night before to get one, especially if someone like Murray is playing.
  18. We came about 5th in my clubs draw so we got the 5th choice of tickets that were available in the draw... getting tickets for wimbledon isn't easy so you take what you get. Went on the same day last year and saw some great tennis. And they cost twenty odd quid.
  19. Great post. I love science and I hate when people just so stupidly and shallowly dismiss it all as some 'conspiracy'.
  20. And of course if you declared you didn't believe in God in the old days, you'd be quickly dealt with! Very interesting chapter on just this kind of thing in the Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins. Memetic evolution!
  21. He does indeed, but it doesn't mean anything come Friday. Happen to have tickets to Wimbledon on friday! Albeit not for centre court, so I'll probably watch on the hill.
  22. What a good win. Tsonga up next. Tougher still.
  23. Gravity is only a theory.
  24. But why?! How can we ever advance without experimenting?! Science is impossible without experiments and research.
  25. It's hard to explain. Like a lot of stuff at this level, and a lot of particle physics it's extremely hard to understand how it works to detail. Just like I wouldn't be able to properly explain how gravity works, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist, because I a non-physicist doesn't understand it. From what I understand, it's effectively a particle that interacts with all other particles, surrounding and 'grabbing' at them if you like as other particles move through the field it creates. So mass is created becuase the particles have move through this field. I'm probably horrendously wrong in areas, but I gave it my best go. Is there anyone here who actually does physics?
