  1. If you were 20, I doubt it would be unless invested in the right places. Once you get a house and what not... depends how you want to live I guess.
  2. I work and pay tax thanks.
  3. I dunno if a million is enough to never work again. Perhaps if invested in the right places.
  4. Lottery winnings aren't taxed - http://www.national-lottery.co.uk/player/p/serviceguide.ftl
  5. I assume they do. Jackanory was arguing for a flat rate of income tax across all wealth because if you earn more you are more 'intelligent and hard working' or some rubbish like that.
  6. What about people born into wealth? Who have all the opportunities? A progressive tax system and fair welfare state is a good way of equalising some of the unfairness capitalism creates. The rich should contribute more, I'm not saying ransack them, but they should contribute more. Oh, and on old people, I sort of agree with you. This current generation are in a very good position and enjoy tonnes of benefits because of the so called grey vote. This is while young people get continuously shat upon by successive governments.
  7. I despise her and Littlejohn. Absolutely the worst.
  8. Well, I am very pleased that the Personal Tax Allowance is being raised so much. I don't think minimum wage earners should be paying income tax. I'm sceptical about the reduction of the top rate band, but if it does lead to a greater yield from the rich, I am content with it. I am also pleased at the closing of the loopholes, and it seems the hint of a so called 'tycoon tax', which is only fair as not all of us can afford fancy accountants. I'm surprised our debt as of GDP is only going to hit 73.6% at peak(lower than most G8 countries), but I guess that is because it was kept low for many years before the crisis. I want to see how it pans out first.
  9. I had just arrived at the scene of the second Uni of my choices and we scored twice in the 5 minutes we spent looking at the teaching building. A sign?!
  10. What a faptastic way to party. Ah well, I guess he blew his chances to make a difference.
  11. Indeed, I was being sort of sarcastic and it didn't really come across in my post, but if you read the rest of my post I clearly state their accounting is dogey. Most of their money goes on production for videos, travel and salaries. Scam.
  12. If you look at my posts, I have actually been very critical of Kony 2012 from the beginning of this thread. My comment was not in relation to the Kony 2012 campaign or Invisible Children Inc. Read my posts and the thread before criticising me.
  13. The maker of the video has been arrested for masturbating in public, and vandalising cars. You couldn't make it up. http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/03/16/10721745-report-invisible-children-co-founder-jason-russell-detained-charity-made-kony-2012-video Also, Charlie Brooker nailed them Wednesday evening... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpuB11d0Gog
  14. Well, I was wrong on him being a waste of cash.
  15. Real Socialism is the opposite of me me me. Rugged Individualism is libertarian.
  16. Massive game tonight first. Good luck Donny!
  17. You may be right for once. We could struggle, or we could do what a lot of clubs who are just promoted do in their first season up and do really well... before catching second season syndrome! Depends how much we invest... if the Cortese is serious about establishing us as a stable, top half premiership team and he finds money to achieve that accordingly... I don't see why in maybe 5 years time, that won't be the case! One years time though probably hovering around mid to lower table in the prem.
  18. Remember this isn't just about men, it's about women as well. A lot of people skate that over.
  19. Allegedly, privately, many of the higher echolons of the church, especially in the CoE barely believe in the Bible at all anymore. That's what some 'expert' was saying on the beeb a week or so back anyways. I think it is ridiculous how Christians say, oh this part of the Bible is to be taken literally, but this part... well, that part isn't and is just a metaphor, and you see this bit here, well that's just to be ignored. Where did God lay down the rules for what to take literally and what not? For what it is worth though, I am glad that most Christians in this country do not take the Bible at face value anymore.
  20. But it isn't really religious anymore. Tonnes of people get married separate from the church and church only is allowed to do it because the state says so. Marriage is entirely a state affair now. These law changes have nothing to do with the church, it's about civil marriages.
  21. It's ridiculous, just like their condoms 'killing life' arguments. What do they think happens to the vast majority of the millions of sperm every time you have sex?!
  22. They aren't defects. It's just different genes. Some have higher frequencies than others in the gene pool. All evolved by the same process.
  23. Brilliant. Because that's what I said. Go back to your cave, Troll.
  24. Well, it's clearly not a genetic defect either. To call a certain gene a defect shows poor understanding of genetics. It's just one way people are made, and it is present in both nature and humanity.
  25. It shouldn't. Parliament is sovereign. Oh, and if the Church of England don't like it, they should get out of the state. This law is nothing to do with religious marriages anyways, but civil marriages.
