Gunn and Baz cost us circa £25M…..let that sink in
-
So less than 2 weeks before the season starts our transfer thread is littered with posts about grammar. Things don’t bode well for the season I fear.
-
Not that many weeks Chez……3 until the start of the season. I’m with you though, it all appears quite sluggish.
-
Years ago when Dave Jones was manager a friend and I went to Norway for the pre-season tour. The team were based in Bergen but the team changed the date and location of their friendly and we couldn’t afford to go. Rangers were in town also and their supporters were off the scale with respect of their intensity and numbers. Anyway we got in with a group of them and went to watch them play a friendly a couple of hours away. The coach ride was something I’ve never experienced before or since following football!! Make no mistake whether it’s a friendly or not they expect to win and this start will be a nightmare for him.
-
His attitude and accountability is shocking. He’ll never fulfil his potential. I’m sure one day he’ll look back and think what might have been.
-
TBF his trial is unlikely to be before next August so we could get a season out of him!
-
Assuming Rusk has left I wish him well. He was handed a poison chalice but he didn’t cover himself in glory and at times was a bit gutless when we literally had nothing to lose
-
Neil Shipperley?
-
At Euro 96 I talked football at a Wembley corporate function before the Dutch game with Sir Stanley Matthews. I didn’t know who he was but he was incredibly engaging and surprise surprise knowledgeable!! It was only when a colleague told me who he was that I realised!

The South coast would be a better place football wise if we were both in the Prem. I’d rather be facing them twice a season than the likes of Norwich or Blackburn etc. I don’t get those that want their direct derby rivals relegated. These games mean something, we look forward to them and we dine out for weeks with the winning bragging rights. On the 26th it’ll be the first games we all look for.
-
That’s my mix mostly! Good friend of mine is the stadium announcer at Aldershot and I watch a good few of their northern games as he follows them away.

As a 50+ years Saints supporter those photos make me immensely proud. Then I think back to the season that we have just been served up ………

Get this lad in. Our last Villa signing was excellent 🙄

I’ve seen little from him over several months to suggest he’ll be a loss either today or in the future. If he’s off I wish him well but given what happened when he left for Chelsea, the poor season he’s had and his tender years I can’t help but wonder if he’ll fall by the wayside and in years to come we’ll all be saying what might have been. -
This what Blades fans think of BBD…….not that I thought they’d take him off our hands but he’ll be a difficult sell: BBD -1 - Jesus. One of the most laughable performances I've seen from the bench. Came on. Lost the ball. Got booked because he can't be arsed to run backwards. Lost the ball. Got injured. If he got the nod ahead of JRS then Wilder needs to look long and hard in a mirror.

That alone should have rung alarm bells for us when we were in a similar position. Probably why VK is at BM and RM is unemployed
-
Probably more scar tissue next season too. Rusk certainly hasn’t started to rid the side of this pointless and toothless possession style.

Look at any players who are potential assets, who are leaving and don’t play them. With our luck AR and MF do their cruciates in the last game and we’re lumbered with them -
Wish I hadn’t bothered yesterday as the players clearly aren’t. I watched the half time warm up of the subs with interest as it was right in front of us. The coach was taking the players through what he wanted but the players were making little to no effort to replicate what he was doing. It stank of ‘I can’t be arsed’ and it’s that attitude that then translates itself onto the pitch. There’s no pride, no passion and I honestly think none of them care.

IIRC Wade from that presentation that is exactly what he says he does? I’m not saying he’s the answer and either of the other two maybe equally as good. Ultimately who knows and only time will tell
-
It’s not though. I don’t recall seeing GON but when RM came in and said that he was surprised at the intensity and athleticism of the PL that comment alone would ring massive alarm bells if I was a prospective employer. Nobody knows how anyone will pan out in a job, in whatever walk of life, however having the ability to communicate well and get your point across is incredibly important and I suspect that WS has that ability. I’m ambivalent between him and DR and probably wouldn’t mind either - or Steve Cooper.
-
Absolutely. The fact that he’ll adapt to the opposition and what’s going on in the game is quite refreshing. You don’t have to be a football manager to know that doing plan ‘A’ and then reverting back to plan ‘A’ if things aren’t going well doesn’t work. He can also relate to the modern player, speaks well and is clearly driven and focused. Yes it may be a little left field but he excites me more than RM, NJ, RS, IJ or SR/AL.

A pretty simple and straightforward philosophy, but the question I keep asking myself is how on earth have we managed to let things slip so badly for so long? I hope we keep him but given our recent history I wonder if he’ll be here come the new year?
