  1. Would he go there if we qualified for the Champions League and Arsenal didn't?

That was last year, things have changed since then

I would say it quite possibly can, and probably needs to happen by the end of the Burnley game. So 17 points from the next 9 games, leaving 8 more in which 14/15 might be enough. I would say we have a reasonably favourable set of fixtures left compared to our rivals. Draws at Newcastle, home to West Ham and away at QPR and wins against Palace, Burnley, West Brom and Swansea would give us 15 points. That leaves 2 games against Chelsea and Liverpool which we are capable of getting points from. So there's little margin for error, we might get away with losing 2. With our defence though, we are capable of picking up points in every game, and that is key.
  4. Newcastle are a very up and down side, you never really know if they're going to turn up. We still have enough quality to get a result, a draw wouldn't be a disaster. If they're without Tiote and possibly Sissoko, then we can cope with our missing players. Hopefully Cork will be ready. Tough one to call, but I think it will be a 1-1 draw. Spurs should win at a canter, but Utd have a tricky trip to QPR and I can't see Arsenal doing anything at the Etihad on Sunday.
  5. We just have to deal with it, we've got options. Everyone feared the worst against Everton and that ended ok. I think a point on Saturday will be a good result, then it will be up to RoKo to decide whether to go all out for victory against Palace.
  6. We'll take the win, thought Ipswich would have given us more of a test. I think the fact most of us are more concerned with Big Vic's injury shows that the cup isn't a priority this season
  7. Davis looked shattered when he came off on Sunday, ran himself into the ground. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't feature tonight
  8. Even CL qualification might not be enough. I would guess the Utd rumour was just made up after his performance Sunday and Neville's comments, which were disrespectful even though he tried not to be. I would be gutted if he joined another PL team, he's too good. Most have us have been aware of his quality for a few years now, I guess he's disappointed he is only starting to get the recognition he deserves. Would love him to stay, he's made a few comments in the past regarding us getting in the CL so it would be nice for him to represent us should we qualify, even if it's only for a season
  9. Does this fool write every week about all the other teams who go to Stamford Bridge, Etihad and Old Trafford and just roll over? Sure, it was a boring game for the neutral, but what were we meant to do? it was a tactical battle. We stood up to them, and RoKo outwitted Van Gaal, simple as.Did Man Utd come to St Mary's to play football? Didn't see them do a lot then, but then they won the game, which is all that matters. This Durham is a clown. I'm sorry we've upset him by gatecrashing the party. And did Sanchez light up St Mary's a couple of weeks ago when we comfortably dispatched of his side????? 'If Southampton produce an end-of-season DVD entitled '101 Great Moments Closing Down the Opposition' expect the victory at Manchester United to feature highly' Fck me, he's bitter
  10. We're only 11/8 to finish in the top 4, 8/15 not to. That shows we are being taken seriously now.
  11. If we were to average a point a game from now on, which is relegation form, that would put us on our total for last year of 56. Any sort of reasonable level of form should keep us in the top 6
  12. We are well into the season now, I was beginning to think we had just been a bit lucky, but we're 21 games in off the back of 2 wins against Arsenal and Man Utd. All the pundits will still be expecting the wheels to fall off, but I'm struggling to see how things could take such a massive downturn now.
  13. My mindset has changed completely. I believe we can do it, and in terms of the players, belief is key. Everyone around the club must now fancy our chances. I don't think anyone could have predicted we'd recover from our mini blip and pick up the results we have over the last five games. I think I have over-estimated the ability of the sides around us. Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and even United are still not convincing, and all look like they will also lose a few games along the way. We have proved we have a top side, built around a strong defence. I don't think we need to fear anyone, and after 21 games looking at our remaining fixtures, we will lose a few but winning 10 or 11 games really is a possibility.
  14. It's his persistence in playing the 3-5-2 formation, and the fact most of the centre backs they have are all hopeless. If you took De Gea and the front 4 with our defence and Vic and Schneiderlin that would be a hell of a team. I guess Van Gaal isn't getting slated as much as he has more of a proven track record than Moyes. A lot of there problems have really been caused by Fergie.
  15. At this stage last season, Spurs were in 6th with 40 points, so I'd guess this season's requirement for fourth will be around 5 points less. Arsenal had 79, but they were top in January, so the tables shaping up differently. I think around 72 might be enough. That would still require us to maintain our good form, but theres plenty of winnable games. The home fixtures against Spurs and Liverpool will be crucial
  16. We will be fine whilst he's out, Gardos will do a good job for us for a few games.
  17. Thanks for that, would never have known about that option at the bottom. Works much better than tapatalk, which has become a complete mess
  18. I think we're fine for defensive options. Better to wait and see where we finish before going all out in the transfer market. I'm sure Les Reed has got it all planned out already.
  19. What about goals conceded? It is incredible, we've got a lot of the tougher fixtures out of the way now, other than City or Chelsea away we are capable of getting maximum points in every game. At this stage now, there's no reason we can't keep going on as we have been. Just wondering now what sort of points total will be required for 4th, can't imagine it will be a lot more than 70
  20. That was last year. Back then I doubted our ability to beat the teams above us. Since then I have been proved wrong. We now have the confidence and belief, we have got through a bad spell and come back even stronger. We have a massive opportunity now, top 4 a possibility and top 6 is ours to throw away now.
  21. Sky coverage really is disgraceful. They are all so desperate for little Southampton not to gatecrash the party and upset the elite. Far too much of a Liverpool and United influence. All summed up by Carragher mentioning that Mane has been great all season, all correct apart from the 6 or 7 games when he was awful. Even when they try to praise us they are clueless. Anyways, what a game, massive praise for Gardos though, looks so assured and dealt with everything thrown at him today.
  22. Solid and composed again. Far better than Yoshida (who has been good in recent games)imho. Came on in a tough situation, looks like he has been playing in this league for a few seasons.
  23. He's a top pundit, but I find that offensive. Spurs have never really been a top team in recent years.
  24. Amazing. What we are seeing is that a real quality team is built on a solid defence first. United have spent millions on attacking players and it doesn't work if you have a **** defence. What a performance though, we've shown we can handle anything teams throw at us. I admit I have been negative, I have doubted the team's ability to beat the bigger sides, well I was wrong! We have arrived now, we have such a solid defensive unit that we can give anybody in the world a game. Confidence is high, and right now the players should believe we can finish in the top 4, because even I do now. Big performances from everyone. Nice of Neville to finally state what we have known for a couple of years regarding Schneiderlin. He can play for Spurs? **** off Gary he's far too good.
  25. Nervous viewing. Hold on to our lead, and then there is no doubt that we are well and truly Champions League contenders.
