+1 this nutshell. I particularly don't understand those people who care a lot about what fans of other teams think about them (especially when we're not even playing said team!), they must be very insecure.

I was round the front.

Put me down for Jonathan Forte.

I did make her pay her way, but she was anything but tight - those other blokes can vouch for that.

It's showing in my local IFC cinema, might pop to see it now. http://www.ifccenter.com/films/the-human-centipede-2-full-sequence/

Well, I did take your Mum to the last game.

I'm really skinny and the club give me a 50% rebate.

I did it in the end chaps. He said he was surprised he hadn't thought of it before, makes perfect sense. I'd appreciate it if someone else could take over the mantle in coming weeks though.

What's so bad about being cringeworthy? The Office was cringeworthy and it's brilliant!

Ok, it seems we're all agreed. Who's going to break it to Nigel?

I'm 100% against any +1 hour to the current system. It's hard enough to remember to call my family from east coast US before they go to bed as it is, this is going to make it impossible!

It's on Fox Soccer Plus on Sunday if that counts? http://www.livesoccertv.com/channels/fox-soccer-plus/ ...and the difference between this thread and West Ham's is that their OP claimed they would win the next match, this OP is only commenting on what has gone before.

I don't understand the problem. Presumably he's been paid for the work he did? It's a shame he was given too much in error and they had to correct it, but it's nothing sinister. Are you suggesting people should be paid additional amounts when they die, in which case how much since this is effectively a 'death bonus'? Should people who die one day into a new month get a greater 'death bonus' than those who die at the end of a month? Why not pay up to the end of the year? Or to the end of a decade?

Crikey - that Maccy D's is right opposite the subway station I use every morning! I'll pop in and ask the staff what they think.

250 years ago the inhabitants of the 13 colonies certainly did consider themselves Americans at the time they signed the declaration of independence from the British, rather than Delawarians, Rhode Islandians etc. But then they were all united at the time in wanting to free themselves of the taxes that were being used to pay for their protection from the French (ungrateful bastards!). As someone above said they also didn't have much history so went about building a nation from scratch as one, which would be very different for Europe. However fast forward 100 years and the Confederate states did want to break away to keep their slaves, so in a way didn't consider themselves "American" although it's not quite the same as being separate independent states. Texans still are a species unto their own and a lot even now want them to secede (as many as 25% in one poll) so may well describe themselves as Texan first. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/15/gov-rick-perry-texas-coul_n_187490.html Incidentally it's funny how secession was perfectly legal for the Yanks when they wanted to leave the Empire, but was all of a sudden not ok when some of their own wanted to form an independent nation! Having said all that, I don't have a problem with the idea of a mild form of United States of Europe. Works quite well out here (political system aside) and States are still able to maintain some autonomy and a strong sense of identity (perhaps what Andy was getting at).

2-2 the year previous to that. It was 2-1 to us when the ball bounced out of play and dropped to me in Row 1. I threw it to Mark Hughes, who threw it in to Gary Pallister who scored the equaliser. Still, those 2 points they dropped that day ended up costing them the title that year. http://www.aboutmanutd.com/man-u-matches/31-12-1994-southampton.html Just the one sub allowed in those days.

Can we rename this thread "Dune's inner monologue"? Others can contribute.

May have been an away game for you, Peacock.

31,904. Not a record. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/1985402.stm

I had it on the radio and they were talking about it at the time. The public announcement said "Today's attendance is 31,150...which is a stadium record." People then started tweeting in that they'd actually missed the record by one. Then towards the end of the game commentators said "Club spokesman Jordan Sibley has just informed us that the attendance is actually 31,152 so it is a new record by one." Definitely a fix, not that I mind. I'm sure it was done for publicity, and here we are talking about it. Also, people may not leave it until the day to buy tickets now that we're selling out again. Incidentally I'm pretty sure they've announced the attentance shortly into the second half for a while now. From what I heard it gave the whole crowd a boost and the atmosphere jumped again (not just from WHU fans, tho I was at the mercy of Solent's mic positioning). I think it would have been a real downer to say "Attendance is 32,150...which is one short of a record!" and I'm sure WHU fans still wouldn't have let it go. Also, as some people were asking, the England Macedonia game got 32,095, about 50 short of the record. http://www.englandfootballonline.com/seas2000-10/2002-03/M0798Mkd2002.html

Let's call a spade a spade. The attendance today was 32,150. They announced it as such at HT, claiming it as a record. Then someone pointed out that the record is actually 32,151 (v Arsenal in 2003) so they found homeless Harry and crack-head Carol in the carpark, let them in and called it 32,152.
