  1. Going back a bit further, what about the Magnificent Seven (or was it Five?) and Andrew Strode Gibbons. What happened to SaintLee and Saint David?
  2. I doubt very much that they intended to kill their children (assuming that they actually did start the fire). I think it more likely that they wanted to make the house uninhabitable so that the council were obliged to rehouse them, probably in a bigger house.
  3. The fact that the Champions League has just been won by an English team via a penalty shootout is entirely coincidental!!
  4. I think they were for the MacMillan nurses.
  5. Have donated - as you say, every parents/grandparents nightmare.
  6. Apologies if this is already posted - I could'nt see it. From the Football Shorts column in the Express :- Joseph Cala, set to become the new owner of Portsmouth, claims the club have problems because money has been "gambled" away. Cala said: "I am shocked by what has been left at the club. Its like someone is drunk at the bar and the barman keeps giving him more drinks. Its not sport, its gambling." Sorry, I've no idea how to do a direct link.
  7. Last year we had to had to have our old bulldog George, put to sleep. The vet came out to us and George died peacefully on the settee with his head on my lap. A horrendous experience for me but the least I could do for a much loved old friend. I can hardly believe some of the posts on this thread!
  8. I can remember Harefield,or the Harefield Estate as it was known then, when it was newly built (my ID is not little oldladysaint for nothing!) and it was a really nice area. My aunt and uncle with their 2 littl'uns lived in Exford Avenue and believe me all the tenants took great pride in their homes and gardens - the whole place was spotless. There were no 'undesirables' there of any kind. I am not doubting what posters are saying about it now but it is very hard to imagine it like that and very sad.
  9. For years we have had direct debits for fairly small amounts for several charities, including the World Wildlife Fund. We also send larger donations annually to the Sally Army, the RNLI and the Royal British Legion. It really gets on my toot when the Sally Army (whom I have a lot of time for) respond by writing to thank us for our donation, but if only we could send more that would be so useful and the WWF phone about every 6 months to thank us for our continuing support and could we please increase it!
  10. You are absolutely right BTF, both parents share the responsibility/guilt. However, when it comes to the day to day care of very small children, I have always found it is Mum who has the final say - it certainly was in this household!
  11. Yes, but other parents do not have the added burden of terrible guilt! That guilt will never leave them for the rest of their lives.
  12. The OP is quite right - Kate McCann should never have left her child unattended, but no-one knows that better than her. But have some compassion for her, not only has she suffered the pain and horror of her child's abduction but also the unimaginable agony of knowing that but for her own foolhardiness it would never have happened. She will carry that knowledge to her grave. In the meantime she is desperately pursuing any avenue that she can in the hope of a miracle, she is trying so hard to put things right, but alas it will alwlays be 'too little too late'.
  13. I did find it slow BUT had no 'cannot connect/cannot display the pag'e problems.
  14. Ade books have one at £35.00. Not sure if its secondhand or not.
  15. I doubt that you're more 'senior' than me!
  16. I think you'll find it on the 'Libellous Claim' thread.
  17. Showing my age here but I remember that cinema. Called the Ritz I think but I'm not actually sure. There was a little cafe opposite with the same name. I spent a fortune on their jukebox!
  18. I have been following this thread, on and off all evening, with great interest, wondering when someone would ask the obvious question - assuming that there is no valid reason for NI's season ticket to be withheld, then there must be a motive! What has NC/SFC got to gain by taking this stance? Why would they seemingly out of the blue take this action - there must be something behind it. Many posters seem to put it down to pettiness/an act of spite on NC's part. Personally, I don't buy this. NC is far too clinical/prefessional in his approach to sink to that level. He thinks carefully before he acts, therfore I think that there must be a reason that he finds sufficiently compelling for him to take this action! I cannot see him talking publicly about this, he has never responded to the incidents involving MLT and Franny Benali - thats just the way he works, never discussing this sort of thing openly. Of course its possible that this IFO ruling will force his hand. If it does, I'm pretty sure that he will give a good account of himself!
  19. Goodbye dear Mr Liebherr. May you rest in peace. Words cannot express my gratitude to you for saving Saints. Sincere condolences to his family. However great our loss, theirs is the greater.
  20. In my opinion Nick Clegg has the most to gain. In past election campaigns the Lib-Dems could only have dreamed of this sort of coverage.
  21. He could quite simply have bought himself out and then campaigned against the war if he chose to.
  22. See Post 60 on this thread.
  23. Surely if it was bad news we would have heard by now?
  24. I have never posted although I read (almost) everything, but I cannot let this event pass without sending best wishes to everyone there. I hope that everything goes well and there is no trouble. Maybe this will make a small beginning to a new beginning for Saints! Take care everyone!
