However with all the rumours and speculation about Adkins, who is in charge of team matters, the stuff that is coming out about Cortese and the way the club is run and people are treated, the training ground and the shambles that our transfer window was for the first time people away from spaz boards are starting to ask questions and usually level headed people are starting to get a feeling somehthing is seriously wrong inside Cortese Towers.

On the face of it you a right he is a strange signing. However I believe that Rodriguez was seen as the long term successor to Lambert. Lambert is 30 now and won't go on forever. Even now he struggles to complete 90 minutes. I believe the club felt wed stay up easily and Rodriguez would eventually succeed Lambert. One thing we've lacked the last couple of seasons is genuine cover and pressure on Lambert. And whilst £6-7m is a lot of Money for Saints it isnt for a young english striker, look a Connor Wickham. I don't believe it's anything more sinister than that. The signing that baffles me is Mayuka. On the face of it what we need, real pace up front be again no room for him in the first 11 and although he maybe able to play wide there is little in his history to suggest he can. Has he really only been signed as an impact sub as I can't see him In the first team and so far neither does nigel by the looks of it. He seems to be third choice out of 3 in his position.

I don't think that at all. What I find odd is we managed to sign £22m worth of attacking talent, 2 of which were central strikers, giving us 3 when in chosen formaiton we will only play one of them. Meanwhile we loaned out centre backs and sold left backs leaving us short of cover and quality in an area which was no where near good enough anyway. Of course I cannot prove we didn't try to sign defenders, but it's a stunning coincidence that in both summer transfer windows we've been desperate for a quality centre half or two and failed to address it until the very last minute. On both occasions seemingly missing our on a number of other targets, this despite the manager describing centre halves as his priority, a full 7 weeks before the window shut.
