On another note and without wishing to sound like hypo, there have been a number of racist comments on here, must have been quite a few infraction points dished out last night.
-
Exactly. If the locals embraced them and the council welcomed them to the area, provided them with Portaloos and skips on their arrival rather than peddling rumours and myths to frighten the local residents and trying to get rid of them straight away then perhaps that would hp them. They'd feel welcome rather than being treated worse than animals.

I live near the university. We've had different sets of students living next door every year. During the summer the house owner keeps the garden clean and tidy. As soon as the students this year moved in it becomes full of rubbish, they didn't cut the grass once in the whole year meaning by the time they left it was about 5 foot high. Out the front on the drive the left a mountain of rubbish, bits of wood, food that was god knows how old, all piled up in the drive and on the pavement, they had cars, why not do what all normal people do and go to the dump rather than expecting tax payers money to be used to clean it up? Whilst they lived there they were a total pain, rude, noisy, ignorant. The old lady the other side said she was often kept up until 4 in the morning by their loutish behaviour, just being drunk, loud and obnoxious. Now I've nothing against students, most of them are okay but why do they think they can rock up in a nice street behave how they want and upset all the locals then leave the place an absolute sh*t hole. This is supposed to be the cream of our youth, the future of out country. The government should bring in laws to evict them.

The sweeping statements that they are all scum, criminals etc has the same undertones though don't you agree?
-
Indeed, just in the few posts on this forum they've been labelled Scum, all bad news and accused of increasing crime wherever they go. Clearly lessons from the past have not been learned and society has not moved on.
-
* sits back and waits for the racists to start making excuses that their viewpoint is nothing like Adolf Hitlers and is in some way justifed.*

I want you to prove your sweeping statement that crime goes up when travellers move into the area. Given that so many people on here seem to hate them, i wouldn't have thought it would be too big a task for you. There must be plenty of people on here that have been victims of them to have formed such strong opinions.
-
Please prove this.

Maybe you should drop the judgemental superiority complex you seem to have and embrace them. I am sure if you spoke to them, embraced their cultural and learned from it then you would become more rounded and humble as a human being. when you start accepting people for what they are then you will start to see the good in them. That would mean humilty from you though and i fear your bigotory is too far engrained for this to happen. Just remember one thing, Hitler hated Gypsys too, it's not a good example to follow.

Travellers Jamie, Travellers.

BUt why should they be restriced to where they can stay and how long for? If they stay for a period of time it would bring extra income into the local economy, providing opportunities for local children to experience a new culture at a young age and also provide employement opportunities for the local services. We should be embracing them and their cultural and the good that it brings.

As their name suggests, they are travellers. Just because it's considered the norm in this country to get as big a house as you can and surround yourselves with as many material possesions as possible it doesn't mean it's the right way of life. Why should they play by other peoples rules? The travelling community and way of life has existed well before any British legal system. And as for your comment about a few ruining it for all. Well there are quite a few people from the settled community who are criminals. There are good and bad in every culture. We believe in live and let live on this forum and dont you bigots forget it.
-
Indeed Jamie. He is in the wrong place if he wants support. He should try one of those websites where the nasty men hate minority groups.
-
I agree with your comments about locking doors by the way. We took similar action when a Chinese family moved in opposite, kept our cats in the house and they haven't turned up in anyone's chicken chow mein yet.
-
I don't see why you can't still take your children to the park. What is the problem? Why should the government bring out new laws because you have a problem with the travelling community?
-
I hope you are not slagging them off. They have the same rights as anyone else to live how they want to live.

The Cortese song is one of the worst and most embarassing songs i have ever heard. I also hate "sit down shut up" A few of us had a rendition of "i wanna be SFC" in the Alex after the Wallsall game, to the tune of the Sex Pistols Anarchy in the UK, think that would sound really good.

McFly covering a Town Called Malice, hang your heads in shame you bulbs.

Talking of the Kinks, the Jam version of David Watts is much better than the Kinks.
-
Take Thats version of Could it be Magic sh*ts all over Barry Manalows. FACT.

Not many bands could make an ABBA song sound worse but Erasure managed it c1993 with their ABBA medley. And not forgetting anything Robson and Jerome did FFS. All covers, all awful.

Noel Gallaghers acoustic covers of The Smiths, There is a light that never goes out and The Jams To Be Someone are fantastic.

The funniest story i read about him was when the old bill pulled him over and he had £5k in his wallet, when asked why he was carrying that much cash he replied "Because i'm rich" Thought that was class myself.
-
I agree with him, although i am sure some on here will find it offensive.

I dont recall Eric Cantona smiling too much but he's remembered as a great player, a legend and a proper character. Rees is right, football needs more characters regardless of if they smile a bit or are moody f*ckers, there are too many Gary Nevilles about these days.
