  1. Couldn’t do it on a cold night in Stoke, yes?
  2. Low block, high press, against the ball and all these endless stats. Of course the geeks lap it all up but it’s nonsense. Thankfully false 9 seems to have gone out of fashion a bit as not heard that mentioned for a while
  3. Yep, agree with that. Going further back Gullit, Van Basten and Rijkaard at AC Milan and Brehme, Mattahius and klinsmann at Inter. The 3 Dutch v the 3 germans at rival clubs in the days when foreign players in English football was a rare thing.
  4. No, they had a period in the 90s when they signed some great players and did well but not as well supported and slightly less successful. Although not a lot in it.
  5. Ballard scored a hatrick yesterday, this kid looks a real prospect
  6. What about them?
  7. Great start for Nathan Jones 🙄
  8. There is that of course and Rome is an amazing city but Roma have never been one of the big hitters in Italy, despite being a huge club. 3 Serie A titles in their history, a European cup final which they lost against Liverpool in their own stadium with their European trophy being the noddy conference league which they won last year. Always been a long way behind Juventus and the Milan clubs success wise. Not many players would turn down a move to Real Madrid.
  9. In a tournament of a lot of averageness that’s how it’s going to be I’m afraid. Messi was the stand out player today in a pretty average game. Perhaps rather than bemoan the pundits talking about him ask why two of the best 16 teams in The world haven’t done anything else dominate the discussion points
  10. Have you watched the Totti documentary? I loved him as a player but since watching that he’s gone to iconic status in my eyes. When Real Madrid wanted to sign him when he was in his prime his answer was “I am a roman would you ever leave your own family to live with rich strangers” love that
  11. Amazing player not sure why anyone would find talking about one of the greatest ever boring
  12. From almost signing Cody Gakpo to being in for Ryan Frazer 🤣🤣

Looks the end is close. Moved into palliative care as not responding to treatment for bowel cancer. Off chemo and just getting pain relief now 😢
  14. Well quite. You need a lot to go right to win a tournament. Injuries, fitness, form, manage fatigue, decisions going your way etc. I don’t think we’ll get a much better chance. For everyone critical of Southgate he’s got us to the last 4 of both major finals we’ve been, so that suggests he’s managed all that well so far
  15. Gabriel Jesus out of the World Cup. Loss for Brazil
  16. I think if we can go unbeaten in our next 4 matches we’ve got a chance
  17. I’m not saying sit back but high energy, high risk, high press football would be suicidal in a tournament. 7 games in just over 3 weeks playing that way would be too much for the players and we’d be torn apart by the better players. Keep it solid, be difficult to play through and we’ve got enough attacking talent to create chances against any team in this tournament.
  18. If we played high risk football against France Mbappe would absolutely destroy us. For all the moaning about Southgates caution we’re top scorers. You don’t win tournaments by being gung ho, it might be better to watch but rarely gets silverware
  19. Agree the winners of that must be the favourites. I really don’t see any outstanding team this year, in the past there’s been Spain, Germany, Brazil who had an edge over the others. Even the Italy team of 2006 which weren’t outstanding but had a world class keeper and defence and with Pirlo and Totti players who could unlock any defence. Don’t see any team like that in this tournament. the fact that Richialison is brazils main threat sums up the level they’re at. Squad depth we’re as good as anyone and seems to be a decent spirit in the camp which we never had with the so called golden generation. However every country is only a controversial VAR decision away from going out in a tight game. does make me laugh though that on he one hand a lot of people are claiming our defence and keeper are suspect against the better teams whilst also critical of Southgate being too cautious against the better sides. 🤣
  20. Not seen anything for England to fear. No outstanding team this time. Got through the group stages unbeaten with the best goal difference, 2 wins and 2 clean sheets, can’t ask for any more than that.
  21. Just don’t enter the lottery that day you’ll probably win!
  22. have no idea what the point of those silly pens is. Im sure over half the time they get saved and he play looks like a proper whopper. Maybe when you're 3 or 4-0 up but in a big game with a lot at stake make your mind up and smash it in one corner.
  23. where is Peter Walton when you need him?
  24. Brilliant from Salisu
  25. great guy but a very average player. Probably on a par with Lyanco.
