  1. I actually agree with you on this. Having talent isn't enough in the premier league. it's a completely different game physically, players are much fitter, stronger. There is a reason why not many players dont become first team players until their 20s and it's because like young Sam they aren't physically ready for it yet. You can get away with it more in the championship. You've only got to look at our own club. Dibbing and Shaw are the only two teenage players who really made a break thorough in the last 10 years or so and both of them are already built like men. Dibbing is physically very strong already with an impressive physique and strength, i heard Shaw was bench pressing 120kg when first joined Man United, insane strength for a footballer. Some will point to JWP who made his debut at 17 but he didn't become a first team regular until his early 20s he was in and out of the side until then. Throw them in too early and you're setting them up to fail. If you want to see how strong a premier league footballer needs to be look at my comment on the lack of fitness thread after i listened to a Chelsea academy S&C coach talk about it. It's quite staggering what sort of weights they are doing.
  2. We were unlikely to get him, in our last relegation he went to Newcastle for £25m in the January window, no way we he have come here instead. Then when we were in the championship he went on loan to Forest then made his move for £15m in the summer. My point wasn't about Chris Wood, it was more that there are proven goal scorers out there available at a good price. Even at £25m he'd have been half the price of Onakouchu Adams and Armstrong and has scored more goals in the last two seasons than all 3 of them have ever scored at Premier league level. We dont have to be clever, we dont have to always buy cheap. One Chris Wood or 3 duds costing twice as much? It's a no brainer. The way people sneered that he was shit was hilarious when he's always been a decent goalscorer at every level he's played at.
  3. Serious question SOG why do you post? all you do is either post links to about 3 different news sources, rant about the far right or call anyone who disagrees with you names or make digs often completely unprovoked Most people on here offer something to this place whereas you offer literally nothing. Even in the past when you used to preach piously you at least offered an opinion even if most laughed at it or rolled their eyes, “here he goes again” These days you’ve become a joke. You can’t even have a discussion with you as it very quickly ending up with you ranting or playing the victim soon as things don’t go your way. Even the threads you start with have potential are thinly veiled digs at other posters. you aren’t winning saintsweb, if you’re trying to be a wind up merchant you’re failing spectacularly, if you think your endless links are “gotcha” moments you’re completely wrong. I don’t really get why you devote so much of your life to something you offer so little too. It’s all a bit tragic
  4. Chris Wood scored again last night. £15m same price as Adams and Armstrong cheaper than the African Ian Ormandroyd. 13 goals already this season, 14 last. He’s scored at least 10 goal every season he’s made 20 or more premier league appearances. Yes some of the genius on here sneered that he wasn’t good enough to be a saints player. Also proof you don’t need to spend big money to get decent players.
  5. It’s just this countries far right media. Starmer needs 5 years before we can say anything negative about the government
  6. the minister for corruption resigns over allegations of corruption. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  7. Why do we have a head of womens football but no one who knows anything about it on the mens side? Weird.
  8. Pipe down Jordan. Quite a few people have actually said he's got an attitude problem and the fact that he's still got to convince people and do more seems to confirm this.
  9. we've had a succession of chairman unable to deliver the elusive five pledges. I wonder if they are still somewhere in Krugers desk gathering dust next to Les Reeds secret file of managers we have been tracking for ages.
  10. I would assume in future if we are at risk one of our other clubs can simply by a player for a ridiculous fee and we're golden?
  11. as i said previously a lot of fans ire is directed at Ankersen but Kraft has been running Saints and lets be honest, you'd struggle to find a worse run club over the last 3 years.
  12. thats a normal deal, its very rare that a deal is paid up front it's usually done over the period of the contract.
  13. @ChristopheVAFC very nice stadium. Hopefully you can get promoted back to ligue 1 soon.
  14. looks like our €5m winter signing will be moving elsewhere shortly Club in talks to sign Southampton defender - Only signed for Saints last week - Sport Witness
  15. that's interesting seems like you can get some good crowds there relative to the size of the town. I live in a town with a league 2 club which twice the size of Valenciennes but is dominated by a current championship club which most people in the town support. They've struggled to get crowds much over 4,000. I think the average attendance is only about 3k this season. It's great growth considering they were playing 3 leagues lower in front of a 200 people only 20 years ago but certainly dont think they'll be getting crowds anything approaching your level any time soon.
  16. Is that right that Valenciennes only has a population of about 40k but a stadium with a capacity of 25k? What's the potential to fill that with a successful team? I notice you're also relatively close to Lille and Paris so would assume a lot of people would support Lille and PSG in the surrounding areas?
  17. Hey Bro, he cooked against Swansea he’s gonna be sick against Manure and I’m not even joking bro.
  18. We did a boat trip from Seahouses out to the Farne Islands it was probably the wettest I’ve been, torrential rain never seen anything like it 🤣 seahouse is a bit of a dump compared to the surrounding areas but that pub in the centre with loads of little rooms is pretty cool and the curry house up by the round about near the coop is top notch
  19. If you go across to the coast Staithes is a very pretty coast side visit, Robin Hoods bay is decent and Saltburn is nice we often go there for the beach In the summer and the chippy near the pier is amazing it was on great places to eat with Fred Sirieux a couple of years ago
  20. Parts of Leeds are really rough and parts of the city centre best avoided but it’s had loads of redevelopment over the years and now great for shops and bars.
  21. Any tips mate drop me a message I’ve lived in Harrogate for 12 years and been coming up for 25 so know the area very well love Northumberland been there a few times with the family and do a golf weekend up there with the lads every year.
  22. That’s bang on. Tories were shit but labour aren’t exactly covering themselves in glory this weird rhetoric one side good other side bad and you can’t say anything negative about “your side” or good about the opposition is playground stuff
  23. I dont think anyone ever said they didn't, but there seems to be this opinion that Labour are infallible when as you point out, they aren't. They've taken over a mess but also made significant mistakes themselves
  24. But it could have had something to do with it? They could have got it wrong.
