    Les Reed

Some fans have never like him for some weird reason. They say the success we've had is inspite of him the bad times we've had are because of him. They don't want to give him any credit whatsoever for some weird reason. Reeds done a good job up until the last year. Despite what people say about Puel you can understand why he got the job and is a perfectly competent manager. However the January transfer window was a shambles last year, the appointment of Pellegrino has been a disaster and Under normal circumstances he now has until the end of the January window to deliver the players we need and ideally a new manager to save his skin Except saints don't operate under normal circumstances. Most businesses of our size have a leader, someone in control who is accountable to the owners or shareholders. We don't. The fact is Reed is probably the highest ranking full time employee at the club which is insane considering his initial role was head of football development when Cortese initially employed him.
  2. That article says we're looking for Walcott and a wide player, which suggest Walcott will be our main striker, not what we need. Wide player yes, central striker no.
  3. IIRC several media sources linked us with him when he Cortese left. Used to be MD of Liverpool but left after Gillette and Hicks arrived, was then at Chelsea for a short time. I've heard him speak before and he's very impressive.
  4. The reason we are where we are is because there is no leadership on or off the pitch. My thoughts on Cortese are well known and he was out of control and needed to be got shot off, but not replacing him was lunacy. For the last 4 years we've had absent owners, which even under the Chinese fella doesn't show any sign of changing. A part time "chairman" who flies in and out every now and again, speaks a lot of waffle and then clears off for a few months. Then there is Les Reed, originally appointed in 2010 to be head of football development and support but now appears to be the most senior full time employee at the club which is idiotic. Every club has someone who ultimately carries the can to the owners for the decisions made Levy at Spurs, Woodward at Man united. it was pretty telling that when asked outright by Blackmore who is making the decisions at the club, Kruger dodged it and said it was a group, then asked who is this group accountable to stop them continually making bad decisions he dodged it again. Seems to me there is a small group of people with free reign to be making the calls and none of them are being held accountable if they get them wrong. We got away with it when Koeman was here because he was an experienced, strong manager but now we've had two less imposing characters as managers the lack of leadership throughout the club is coming home to roost.
  5. This is talksports south coast football expert. the guy that reported we weren't interested in Charlie Austin less than 24 hours before he signed
  6. Half of the problem is most of our fans are more interested in sticking mars bars on their heads and being wacky or slagging off their own players all game rather than getting behind the team. The solution is really quite simple and that is for everyone who wants to sing to be in one place and move to the chapel end and create a home Kop and people actually sing support to the team. Unfortunately it's not as simple as logistics as it'll need a complete culture change inside our fan base. Sadly a lot of people think they need to be near the away fans so they can have bantz with them with a hilarious repertoire of songs like singing "Liverpool" to man united fans, telling Man City fans they're just a small club near united, or rhinking they are insulting Chelsea/Spurs/arsenal fans by telling them they aren't going to win anything this season, forgetting that neither will we.
  7. There should be. We didn't replace Fonte last January despite Les stating he wouldn't be sold until we had a replacement in. Last January was absolutely shambolic. They knew Fonte was going for months yet messed about and ended up signing a free transfer, out of contract player, after the window had shut who took two months to get and hardly played anyway. We then ended up with the worst central defensive partnership in the league to finish the season. Failure Last January possibly cost us the league cup, this year will likely cost us our premier league status. We have desperately needed 3 players and a replacement for our manager for months.if this January is anything like last year reeds position becomes untenable.
  8. You've *****ed and moaned across different owners, chairman, managers, bad times and good times never having a positive word to say about the club. I'm glad you've admitted that the brief period when you did have a few positive words to say were due to self interest. Seems to me rather than "wearing your heart on your sleeve" you hate most things about the club and alway have unless its for your own personal gain.
  9. You wanted to suck Ralph off here. Presumably this was around the time They agreed to stock your book in the club shops? https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?50102-A-meeting-with-Ralph-Krueger
  10. Les is an ideal sounding board for Pellegrino. He knows exactly what it’s like to be the worst manager in a clubs history
  11. i don't think the pledges are a bad thing and like everything we do the planning is crucial and this is evident by the timing. We will be bottom by the end of February so a nicely timed and worded pledge from Ralph will give us all a lift at that difficult moment. It'll be great to hear all about the "Saints pledge for a continued striving to excellence" as this small club battles gamely against relegation.
  12. Thank god the Dutch cloud has gone
  13. I want a chairman I can believe in. One who shows that all important quality of AMBITION. one who tells me how great he is all the time. one who PROMISES Champions league football and a spending BONANZA. one who asks "think not if we can win the premier league, but how" One who tells me what I want to hear and then quits at the first sign of trouble. That is what I want.
  14. Why not just post it then when it happens and you're proven right it'll shut everyone up?
  15. No it isn't. If you remember we had Pelle doing that job and he was a whipping boy for our cretinous fan base. Not mobile enough, too slow, weak for a big guy, not very good, worries more about his hair, hibernates during winter etc. He was ironically cheered on his home debut and given all sorts of abuse by the crowd in his time here. What makes you think that if we had a player who could hold the ball up he wouldn't get similar treatment?
  16. It's at times like this I miss Franks Cousins posts.
  17. I wouldn't want you in a relegation scrap either. it's be whinge, whinge, moan, moan, sulk, sulk. You really are one of the biggest saps to ever have broadband.
  18. The cynic in me says this is PR to keep the fans happy that we're showing ambition in who we're trying to sign to ease the pressure on Reed and the manager.
  19. just what we need, bit of pace in the side. Loan or permanent?
  20. One moment against Huddersfield summed him up. He could have ran at his man attacking the defender instead he slowed is down, cut inside, then when the fans got on his back, rightly so for slowing the attack down, he petulantly tried to smash a cross field ball which rolled along the ground 25 yards to their player. P*ss poor play then petulance. I genuinely think there is a good player in there but he's got a huge attitude problem.
  21. Is this another one of those open letters?
  22. For the last twenty minutes we matched them, we hit the bar and created some good chances, we showed our good face for that time and need to make sure we do it for 90 minutes against manchester.
  23. The championship is probably the best and most competitive league in Europe We will be one of the biggest clubs in it Most of our helmet fans will f*ck off like they did last time Most of our helmet players will f*ck off More matches No pundits wa*king off about mangers Better atmosphere and prices More Saturday 3pm kick offs
  24. Absolutely abysmal. Baffling team selections, baffling tactics, negative, boring football, we're progressively getting worse as the season goes on, the only teams we've beaten have been ones who've been utterly sh*te. Best players not performing, players who've done well not getting picked, bizarre rotation policy, poor game management. Been a disaster and shown nothing to suggest its going to get better.
  25. Apart from letter being completely cringeworthy you also admit that in 2009 you breached ground and ticketing regulations by giving your ticket to a third party. The use of a ticket by someone other than the person named on it is prohibited by Southampton FC even if you did have a really bad cold. I suggest you hope no one at club reads this letter as you may be subject to a ban.
