Stephens can also cover defensive midfield and RB so could be a handy iption, but if we get another CB then maybe its also better for him to get games somewhere as he probably wouldn't make the bench for us and is beyond tame U21s football.

Caulker usually a threat from set pieces too. Scored 5 for Cardiff in his season there I think. Scored in his only England appearance too.

The quality of questions in the press conferences are the biggest reasons they are tosh. Especially with a Manager like Ronald who seems quite open on most topics. Its like they only think what they are going to ask once he sits down and its the same tedious crap every week.

Agree with this, was just speaking re depth. Certainly jury out on Cedric's 1v1 defending which hasnt been tested in the friendlies and was a key strength of Clyne, plus also Clasie's adaptation to the pace of the PL. But in terms of options we will have more than last year if we get another CB and DM.

Another quality CB and another CM and the squad will be the strongest depth wise since we got back to the PL. Another CB also gives the chance to loan out Stephens and Turnbull again rather than having them sit around as 5th choice playing Carling Cup.

Assuming we target another CB of top quality then this gives us good depth in that position, which will be vital across the whole season.

Pretty Simple for me: If a replacement for Gardos - If a replacement for Toby - He is a decent defender, probably better than Gardos, but nowhere near Toby's level, and we aren't paying a transfer fee. He also has a lot to prove after two relegations.
