Of course it is, but also a factor in why he needs replacing. He isn't good enough to play Europa League or PL football aged 38 and won't get better, and will decline quicker whilst rarely playing. Fact is, if he wasnt a club legend he wouldnt have been given a 3 year contract after having proven he isnt PL quality. He should have been out of contract this summer.

Massive positives in Jay and Juanmi though.

With the Intls back for Saturday I doubt many of them will get more chances in the friendlies.

Probably a good context for Koeman to see some of the U21s in. Im not sure any are really good/ready enough to make a big impact this season. Hesketh impresses me most of them all usually. Gallagher needs a season on loan to see if he really has enough.

I make it that we are if anything worse off this season in the GK department as I don't think Stekelenburg is as good as Forster and Davis has aged even more. Was our weakest position last year and cost us points at the end of the aeason and could do again this year if Stekelenburg misses any games until Forster is back. Davis should be a no 3 (or retired tbh) and Gazza needs to get out on loan to play mens football and build his confidence back at a level he is capable at. We could really use another GK IMO.

Aside from defenders, so many of the Academy lads are tiny.

Half or more of the players aren't up to it and the overseas players haven't added the quality some other teams have done.

Quite amazing that Kelvin is still our second keeper 2 and half seasons after being dropped from the first team!
