Journalist @mikosgouka reckons Clasie might not come over to Southampton and that we might sign him when we travel to Holland. We are playing on Saturday so imagine will travel fairly soon, so it probably makes sense!

Do other teams see us as weak & ripe for picking?
Saint Charlie replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
They see us as having good players who have proven themselves in PL football, who in turn they know will be happy to get a pay rise and play for a bigger club. Pretty simple. -
Its always a "big" season for every player, but JWP definitely has something to prove IMO. His 4th PL season, and whilst he is still young, he hasn't improved massively in that time in terms of influence on the game. Still not in my first choice XI. Personally feel he would be better served if the club reduced the hype around him a little until he has earned it.

Cheers - both signings, as with virtually all now had been speculated about for a few days before. So its an unlikely occurence.

Think we need an additional CM then I would be happy with it. Have good cover everywhere apart from GK but the club don't seem fussed by that. Of the U21s (who havent yet broken into the first team permanently) I think Hesketh has the quality to maybe make an impact, and Isgrove as a sub. Stephens a good 5th/6th CB, but otherwise I can't seem the likes of Gallagher, Gape etc getting games unless we have a horrendous injury crisis.

When was the last time Saints did a double signing?
-
VI say deal agreed, just discussing bonuses. Schalke keen but Clasie wants to rejoin Koeman and its expected a deal will happen.
-
More than 20k STs sold according to Saints tweet. Should mean most games are sold out this season I would imagine.
-
Clasie could travel to Southampton later today and is expected to be presented as a Saints player this week. I reckon tomorrow.

Same. Its not really a position to **** about with. If Forster is out for the majority of the season then either KD or Gazza is the no2, and neither showed last season that they are good enough to play PL football. We need to take some blame for Gazziniga's situation: Adkins exposed him to PL footy way too soon, he had only played 20 something pro matches and wasn't ready and then because we gave Davis too long a contract for sentimental reasons we kept Gazza around when he should have had two full seasons out on loan by now.
-
Lloris has broken his wrist and will probably miss the start of the season. Luckily for them they have Vorm. We are in the same situation as last year still. One injury away from a substandard keeper being our no1.

Gareth Rogers Not Strong Enough To Run Our Club

He doesn't really run that side of it. -

#MerciMorgan trending in....Mumbai. LOL. -
Clasie seems like a leader too, skipper for Feyenoord at a young age. After having lost players with leadership elements in Morgan and also Toby it is good to bring in someone with that quality.
-
Ah ok, in that case it does seem a very low fee. Feyenoord could get some lessons from Les on negotiating
-
Plus he only has one year left on his contract.

Now that Chambers, Clyne, Morgan, Lallana, Lambert, Lovren and Shaw have moved to big PL sides and considering he had an inform Jay Rod, Fonte and S Davis, should Pochettino have done much better than 8th? -
Mane is easily a 20m player in todays market, not least for his goal return playing in an attacking midfield type role. With his age and potential and the fact he cost us about 12m before playing in a top league, I reckon if he does well this season then Saints could easily charge £25m. Beyond him and Wanyama then probably nobody else at the moment.

If we do go for van Dijk hopefully its before he has cup tied himself in Europe!

We are obviously weaker right now, but shouldn't lose anyone else that we want to keep and hopefully can start spending some of the cash. IMO we don't need that much: 2 x CM (One is Clasie) 1 x quality CB Personally would have got another GK and loaned out Gazza but seems we won't. -

As an aside, how nice it must be for Van Gaal to ask for all his signings to be done before the US tour and then the Club backs him and gets it done! Learning from Chelsea last year, but definitely an impressive summer from Utd. Be interesting to see who they bring in to replace RVP. Also, things must have moved fast because on Friday Less Reed told Blackmore there was basically no chance of Morgan joining in time for their tour - hopefully they just stumped up all the cash we asked for.
