  1. Will be sad to lose him, especially to Spurs because he is a class player and they were close to us this year. They are a bigger club, with ultimately better trophy propsects than us. Big pressure to find a replacement because he was as important as anyone last season, and our record without him was far worse than with.
  2. He doesn't need to keep his options open if he has already decided what to do. Maybe he told Koeman privately that he was going to join Spurs? Then we would just be looking to get our 1.5m from AM and move on. If Sky sre right and he has had a medical then its as good as done IMO.
  3. Probably game over.
  4. Breaking Spurs news next on SSN...
  5. Hopefully he doesnt go to Austria as might indicate a move is closer. Best for all parties if he leaves soon and we can start planning for the season with his replacement secured. Its such a key position.
  6. But he is available for a cheap fee, probably cheap wages, can cover 3 positions and is probably happy to be a backup. I guess that is the attraction. He will probably be 2nd or 3rd choice RB, 3rd or 4th choice LB and 5th choice CB (possibly 6th if Stephens or Turnbull have a good pre season).
  7. Yep. Also from RK's comments yesterday he has clearly been in touch with Toby recently and would know of his intentions. Maybe Toby said he would be keen to stay, maybe he said actually he has had a great offer from Spurs, in which case for us it is just a case of reclaiming as much as we can. Nobody knows his thoughts, which ultimately are key.
  8. @HLNinEngeland: No medical as yet. Atlético meanwhile claim the loan with Saints has expired and that the clause isn't valid. (see: AS). #THFC
  9. Carefully scripted and edited. But the role of the Head of Recruitment clearly involves being present during negotiations. If there were certain clauses in the Juanmi deal, Wilson would know of them, so no reason Mitchell would have been any different re our deal with Atletico for Toby. It was his job to know!
  10. He is the Head of Player Recruitment so of course he would. Watch The March. Wilson present during all negotiations. It is that person's job to know it all.
  11. West Ham likely to sign Ogbonna ahead of Everton.
  12. AS say Spurs and Toby agreed on the deal and still expect it to be completed. Saints just seeking compo from Atletico. http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/tottenham-agree-12-7m-purchase-details-being-ironed-out
  13. From The March video Ross Wilson (Mitchell's replacement) was involved in negotiations alongside Reed so I would say that Mitchell would know most of the details unless that role has substantially changed. As an aside, those who keep saying they aren't sure if Spurs are really interested in Toby...do you actually believe that? They are interested enough to have committed 11m to sign him and have agreed a 5 year contract at (according to reports) 50k a week. Quite some smokescreen!
  14. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jul/06/southampton-morgan-schneiderlin-27m-manchester-united?CMP=twt_gu Interesting comment from RK that I haven't seen elsewhere about Toby's head maybe being turned by Spurs. Also worth noting that Paul Mitchell would likely know the terms of our agreement with Atletico.
  15. From the guy who first broke our interest in Toby last year: @svenclaes: There's a lot going on regarding Toby Alderweireld. Despite many rumours, no medicals planned. Good night! #THFC #SaintsFC
  16. The Feyenoord account @KuipTalk said "he hasn't impressed me tbh". #opinions
  17. @bigadamsport: #saintsfc Ronald Koeman inferred in interview that signing of Juanmi ends interest in Djuricic & return of J-Rod & Isgrove ends Elia bid
  18. Cheap squad filler. Used to play for Erwin. Can play across the back 4 which obviously appeals.
  19. In that case why is he flying there now? Answer: because the whole situation is messed up!
  20. Maybe he should have gone last Tuesday? Toby having a medical with Spurs before we have even had a bid accepted, so something has gone awry.
  21. He will 99% sign for Tottenham though. Our legal action threat was last resort tactics because the deal was moving away from us for whatever reason. Can't help thinking it would have been much better for us if Atleti had paid us the 1.5m the day after the season ended. Fair enough from Spurs though, hebwas available and they have stumped up the money they were required to. They haven't done anything wrong.
  22. Hard to see Saints talk of legal action and then 5mins later chuck another £5m into the bargain like it is loose change. Our threat was last chance saloon stuff.
  23. Obviously we will sign another CB but first wanted to try and get Toby. Nothing wrong with that.
  24. Could be that we knew that and as we hate Spurs thought we would just toss that grenade into the mix to try and disrupt them. Probably the worst team to lose him to because he will improve their defence a lot. Also takes out our RB cover so as well as finding a quality CB we also need to get another full back in.
