It doesnt say rising to 90m with sales. It says 70 and that we might make 90m through sales. Its a lot of money, but the cost of replacing anyone we lose will be high.
-
Not a chance in hell that we would have spent 70m this summer if we retained all current players. Where would this money come from? Remember the TG and existing transfer costs too, that would be well over £100m. Could only have an outlay like that if we have big money coming in.
-
Depends who actually goes I guess. Agree with Hypo we could well need up to 7 and Reed did say sales money would be reinvested but no way its 70m plus the sales money on top - Krueger talked about sustainability etc so that wouldnt add up. As long as we spend enough to compensate for any departures and improve last seasons weak backup areas then that will do. Easier said than done though.
-
Would imagine the expected sales have changed things as we need to replace those players too. In the end we could well spend a lot this summer without putting any of our own money in.
-
True, although replacing the quality of outgoings will cost a lot. Should be interesting. Also Clubs will know we quite a bit of cash if those sales do happen.
-
Almost certainly its having factored in player money. Would mean a trading profit.

Sky woman on Twitter @SkySportsAmy I'm told Koeman will be handed up to £70m to spend on transfers by Southampton who expect to raise up to 90m if they sell star players

Kolo, the LB at Nice is West Ham's top target in that position: http://www.claretandhugh.info/irons-names-for-left-back-spot/

To summarise: - Kit will be mainly red and not stripes. - Away will be navy - Fans will initially hate and slag both before buying one or both anyway. - Repeat next year

Another player from the Dutch league with a ludicrous goal record.
-
Assuming neither Marshall or Boruc would stay to be a sub keeper, is Marshall actually much better than Boruc if at all? I'm not convinced he would be worth spending £8m or thereabouts on.
-
I was joking. Could be set to spend a lot though by Saints standards. Spending it wisely is another thing though.
-
Reed is probably ****ting himself at the thought of having to spend £80m plus in two months after his recent promise that money from sales will be reinvested.

I actually think Shaw is an excellent defender. Can barely recall a wide player getting the better of him over 90mins. Re the fee its not the headline amount thats important, it is how it is structured and what benefit we get immediately than can allow us to improve our team. Doubtless it will be made up of many add ons, some of which we will probably never get Should insist on a big sell on fee too, chances are he will move again.

Had shown a few decent touches as well.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-increase-luke-shaw-3751042 34m according the Mirror. Good number but depends on the conditions as to how good a deal it is, i.e how much up front etc.

Rio Ferdinand signing for QPR apparently. Even on a big paydrop it will be insane wages you would imagine.
-
Just come on for Croatia now.

Our attack will need a complete overhaul if we lose Lallana. He, Jay and Rickie were probably responsible for 70% approx of our goals last season so a lot to replace. Sure we have targets though, the club have known all three situations for a while!
-
Will be a massive boost when he is available again.

Crook is a genius. All his FGS bets come in and most of his accumulators, a sign of his wealth of knowledge. He is one of the most respected football writers in the game and the envy of many colleagues. We are lucky that he provides such insights for us in the Daily Star and Mirror on such a regular basis, as well as bothering to go on talkSport and provide the fans with the inside track into events at SMS. That he gets so much abuse on here is just jealousy IMO.

Depends also how they see the team playing because Cork and JWP have completely different strengths. One thing that is for sure is that to get rid of Cork would be a poor move. Hopefully he signs a new contract. Consistent, low maintenance performers like him are a rare breed these days.
-
He is 18 (easy to forget) and not the brightest by all accounts.
-
Personally I think he only works behind the striker depending on who else is there. If paired with say Lallana and Rodriguez then fine, but if its with other "passers" then there isnt enough pace or off the ball movement to be a threat to the opposition. Agree with the Steven Davis comparisons but they contradict this idea of him being the midfield pivot (which Davis isn't). I think he could play that pivot role but needs the aggression to do it well at PL level. He played there in the Toulon tournament but from watching a few of the games there was barely a tackle made whereas in the PL I think players in that position have to be capable of putting their foot in (especially away from home). I think JWP is very similar to Nabil Bentaleb from Spurs - will be interesting to see if MP favours him.

Agree, its our best position plus the one with probably the most emerging talent too. Would see him as more of a replacement for an outgoing player than a signing to add to what we have. Also we must have loads of players we are monitoring and GB is on a free so makes sense to keep tabs on him.
