Would think the latter now.

27m plus 1m add ons according to a Mirror journo who is reliable on Utd (the one Moyes banned for correctly leaking the team). Although a big fee I would say its good value for Utd still. Would hope we have a good sell on or I would sway to the thought we could have done better.
-
Initial pot (or money from one of the sale) might as well be used for paying the existing fees or for the TG if required. We are generating a big enough budget just through the sales.
-
Clearly our tactics were a major strength last season. One of very few teams that had a clear style.

http://theinsideleft.com/graziano-pelle/ Decent article on Pelle

Seeing as most of the deals were done when he was appointed he obviously knew what he was signing up to and has been promisee most of the cash. No issue here, although Reed suggesting he could speak to players to persuade them to stay was obviously just sound bites as Shaw/Lallana knew they were going when they left for the WC so any chat would have been too late.

[Daily Mail] Saints make formal enquiry to sign Danny Ings
Saint Charlie replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Compared to the players we are losing Ings is in nowhere near the same class. We need strikers who have top level experience and can hit the ground running from day one, especially given that the first two month we need to get points considering the horrendous run later on. -
Its not, but people seem to like pretending we can replace all these class players with unproven PL signings and youth players that were bit part last season.

Surely at some point the club would have to stop and consider the implications. All clubs sell one or two. But the five best players in one window with seemingly no financial contraints is just suicide. Most of them signed new deals in the last year so surely with one or two we could have put our foot down and said they can go next summer but not this?

Spurs do happen to have the Manager they all loved playing for and who propelled them into their national setups. Anyone noticed how many interviews the normally shy Rodriguez has given where he makes it very clear how much he likes playing for Pochettino? Would not be suprised at all if he ends up reuniting with him before too long.
-
Journo who got the quotes: @HotspurRelated Was me who asked him if he could join Poch. He said 'That's a good question. I'm not saying anything.'
-
As soon as they all knew Poch was off.

Bound to happen. Once their mates start being allowed to make moves they will obviously think about themselves and nobody wants to be the one who missed out. Jay Rod must be gutted at the timing of his injury, and not just because of missing the WC. If JR stays, he will be the last one left that is really good enough for a top 4 squad at the moment. Although with his contract starting to run down and no sign of an extention, we will probably cash in either this summer or next as I can't see him signing another one unless Koeman works a miracle and we somehow end up better than last season, which is nigh on impossible now.
-
My OP looks pretty much on the money despite the abuse. Unprecedented PL sale spree even if each appears understandable in some way. Huge amount of quality to replace. Koeman has probably the hardest job of any PL Manager this season.

Do we have an embargo preventing us from signing anyone apart from Dutch players?
-
The Sky footage of AL clearly shows him with Jack Cork. Is it actually from today or just footage they have pretended is? Otherwise, maybe Cork is moving there too? Surely not.
-
Adam Blackmore, who has been ITK on all the moves this summer said tonight: Have learnt that money #saintsfc will see for Luke Shaw & Adam Lallana will amount to 50-55M IF all clauses are met, & comes in instalments Would think that is as close to confirmation as we will get.

Only real concern with Ings is a poor injury record and the fact he available for free next summer. IMO £8m is too much. -

Behave! -
I don't blame Lallana for moving one bit and would hope he gets the decent reception he deserves when we play them. He has been good for us, we have been good for him and he has always given 100% for us and been low maintenance. He has left for a chance to earn more money, play in the Champions League and a good chance to win trophies. Fair play to him.

Should the club who has the best academy in the country......?
Saint Charlie replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?t=49914 If they actually ever stayed long enough maybe we would. Only 4 in the last 20 years who have made over 100 apps. -
Agree that it is a gamble as he has no real goal record before moving there. Think the fee is lower in £ though, more like 8m or so. When you think thats what Snodgrass and Livermore are worth it doesn't get you a lot these days. Pelle must be high on confidence though after two really good seasons, and seems to be a penalty area striker with decent finishing ability. Hopefully that will translate well to the PL, although will need a slight change of style to get the best from him - with more crosses coming into the box.
-
Looks like Pelle is happening then, according to the excellent Di Marzio...
