Perhaps. But it would matter in that Koeman would be suggesting he believes in the ambition of Everton more than the ambition of Southampton. That would be a blow. When its Arsenal (or even Spurs) its a no brainer. Not Everton IMO.
-
@henrywinter: Ronald Koeman is a man in demand. No surprise given his good work with Southampton. @Matt_Lawton_DM: Not entirely sure why you'd trade Southampton for Everton
-
Depends also what the real ambition is and how much the Club are really going to put in to keep improving. Will the money around in the PL lots of teams will spend big and eventually that tells. West Ham for example will probably not lose any of their best players (unless there is an unlikely about turn on Payet) and will probably spend near £50m. If we sell Mane and Wanyama, will we spend much on top of what we get in for them? If not then realistically that will tell at some stage and Koeman may feel that it will get more difficult for him to keep doing well. He will know that VVD aside the signings last summer havent really come off. If Reed and the Club feel its an "easy way out" to lose Koeman to a PL side below us for the last two seasons at least then I think that is pretty disappointing. Arsenal, fair enough. But Everton wouldn't send out a good message to players & fans and others within the Club IMO.

It was though because Pochettino has signed a new 5 year contract with Spurs, like he said he would. Not that it even matters.
-
Done. Usually good fun!
-
Jeez. The ones from about 3 days before he signed the new 5 year contract that he already announced the week before that he would be signing imminently? Of course they weren't fakes. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/manchester-united-news-mauricio-pochettino-tottenham-sir-alex-ferguson-meeting-a7025306.html

There weren't any strong suggestions of that. Just people on here hoping it would happen.
-
I think if we did lose Ron to Everton then people would have a right to wonder what he has been told by Les and Ralph. Personally I don't think he will go there. Also don't think this thread has really gone into meltdown mode at all. Most people seem quite "meh" about the reports, which at this stage is all they are.
-
If you actually think any Saints fan would be genuinely unhappy about the Club doing well then you are mad. You can't have "run ins" on a web forum FFS. This is an internet forum. Everything is over hyped, spun, over thought etc, provocatively debated etc. Otherwise it would be boring. If you met CB Fry in real life he wouldn't try to pick holes in the way you said "hello" to him. When I saw the Koeman to Everton stuff I knew people would have opinions hence why the thread has a lot of responses in a short time. Its a big story for Saints fans even if it is made up media drivel. My OP even says that I don't think it will happen personally.

FWIW Chief Football Writer of The Telegraph: @JBurtTelegraph: 100pc spot on again from the brilliant Chris Bascombe. I'm told Koeman is tempted https://t.co/zi0jYRRSFZ

Not even sure what you are trying to argue about but something has got you riled. [emoji106]

Take that as a no then, haha. I find it pretty funny to be honest. People get so worked up about it. If someone else had started the same topic it would probably have a whole different set of replies. Its worthy of discussion, there is nothing wrong with the OP, people just don't like the story, which is totally understandable. Would far rather read about Koeman signing a new contract. Hopefully he does.
-
^ Best not buy a newspaper tomorrow if you are that sensitive. I actually said "doubt it would happen personally".
-
No. Have you worked out the difference between "lots" and a "few bits"?
-
I said "a few bits" (clearly in the OP) I think it constitues that. Mods - if its not a noteworthy discussion topic for a Saints forum then feel free to close.
-
I was agreeing with you. And adding that people seem to get offended/aggressive when you post things they don't like. See the other thread for suggestions he is interested.

Liverpool Echo: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ronald-koeman-interested-everton-managers-11325894 John Richardson formerly of the Express: @riccosrant: Told once again that Ronald Koeman is definitely on Everton's short list - and he is interested. Sorry you Saints fans. As I said, not saying I agree/believe/like. Just posting it.
-
Would also be worth people realising that mentioning/posting said stories doesn't mean you wrote them/believe them/agree with them. A lot of melty naivity tonight, more than normal anyway. For all the papers to have the same story they have obviously been briefed by Everton or someone very well connected to them.

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ronald-koeman-interested-everton-managers-11325894 Blame them. I didn't write it!
-
Pretty poor of Everton to put a briefing like this out with the last fixtures approaching. They don't have anything to play for, but we do and it has/will come a distraction. They could have waited to Sunday night but I guess its in their interests to put it out there sooner. Koeman's response tomorrow will be very interesting.

Solid post. Just the Times, Mail, Mirror, Guardian and Telegraph as well.

Some good chatter I would say.

Few bits of chatter that he is "interested". Doubt it would happen personally but if he did see that as a good move it would say quite a lot about our ambition. Will be nice once they have appointed someone. Would be nicer if he came out in his presser tomorrow and said he isn't interested.
