Agree, looks solid but also has attacking flair. Would have people like Cork, Puncheon, Mayuka, Lee, Lambert to come on and affect play.
-
Could imagine it being like this: ------------------------------Boruc------------------------------ Clyne---------------Fonte-------------------Maya---------------Fox --------------------Schneiderlin-----------Cork--------------------- ----------------------------------Davis-------------------------- ------------Ramirez------------------------------------Lallana-------- -------------------------------Jay Rod-----------------------------
-
How did you feel when they changed their name to the U21's? Hope you didn't have a tattoo.
-
True, but that would be a decent lineup, and with Mayuka's pace to impact from the bench.
-
That is quite bizarre. Symptomatic of a small club IMO. if you look through most of the teams on this thread theya re either foreign teams where someone has a link to them through family, work etc, or minnows that people have a soft spot for.
-
I see what you are saying. My allegiance would be 80% Saints and 20% Metalist so I am probably not as good a fan as you are (100% Saints), but better than some who support their second team more than 20%.

Tight race for the CL in Ukraine! The company I work for has a big presence in Kharkiv for some unknown reason - will probably only need to go out there for one more trip - but its an interesting place once you get used to the quirks!
-
As a part time resident of Kharkiv, Eastern Ukraine due to work I have been able to go and watch Metalist Kharkiv quite a bit at the 38k capacity Metalist Stadium. Standard of footy is good at times, after 13 games we are 4th with 24 points. Metalist are well known in Ukraine/Russia for producing good young players only for most to be snapped up by the bigger Kiev teams and some of the wealthy Russian teams...sound familiar? Our defender Denys Barvinko will be the next to go with some big Italian teams looking at him. This is supplemented with some good experienced Ukrainian Intls and as with most Eastern European teams a selection of South Americans looking to move into European football. Cleiton Xavier, a Brasilian attacking midfielder is the pick of the bunch, with skills like Lallana. Quality atmosphere, totally unlike English football. Anyway - who is your second team?
-
What is your favourite Saints shot of the season. Personally Lambert's shot which resulted in a goal vs Man City was great plus Morgan's shot which was blocked vs Spurs. POW. Also enjoyed Mayuka's shot from the edge of the box vs Villa which went wide.

How did you know it was his thousandth offside? Do you sit next to MLG?

Bizarre but worthy thread. For me this game sticks out: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/8511481.stm Hammond scored and also setup Waigo who came on as sub, scored and did his celebration. This game was also the debut of Alex Oxlade Chamberlain who IMO was partly the reason why Waigo wasn't kept on. He was frustrating but did used to link up especially well with Deano. From his Wife's twitter it looks like they holidayed together the summer that Waigo left.

Ramirez would be worse in a central 2 as he is not a defensive minded player. He needs freedom to do damage in the final third,
-
Pretty much. Whilst some might not agree on the usefulness of a hungry and tigerish Chappers patrolling the midfield minefield I think we all agree on that point.
-
De Ridder was woeful against Leeds. Ditto Seaborne and Shaw is untested.
-
Team for WBA: -----------------------Boruc--------------------- Clyne---------Fonte-----------Yoshida-------Fox ---------------Morgan-----------Davis--------- Mayuka---------------Ramirez--------------Lallana ---------------------Jay Rod--------------------- Can't really see a better team than that from the current squad.
-
Obviously Ramirez should play if fit, but are we a good enough side not to include Chappers. As I said, Metalist Kharkiv recently brought Shelayev in from the cold (literally) and he has had a good impact. Maybe Chappers could provide the commitment and desire lacking from the left back spot?
-
Could we do with Chappers in midfield on Monday to provide some bite and "GET INTO THEM". he might have been poor vs Leeds but his blood is red and white and his head bald. Or would we be better having Ramirez in there to provide some quality? Tough decision for Adkins. Here in Kharkiv, Metalist have brought Oleh Shelayev (old style harrying midfield battler) into the side after being out of favour and he has enabled the team to get some decent results after a poor run. Commitment or quality....
-
This - if people are looking to criticise for the second goal Fonte had ample time to clear had he not slipped. Can imagine Boruc having a blinder on Monday after this though!
-
Mountain out of a molehill. Player getting abuse responds. Suprising that.
-
Makes sense to get him some regular games with a view to being no 1 next season. Boruc is a good keeper who has always played at a high level. Not much he could have done with either goal on Sun and I think he will do well this season with KD as an able back up. Only issue would be if Gazza either can't be recalled (which would be crazy) or if he ends up on the bench for Bristol City.

Shaw was injured but was back in full training on Friday. Would expect him to play vs Leeds. He is a left back. Ben Reeves used to play LB but has been converted into a no 10 which is where he plays in the U21 team. FWIW he was on loan at Dagenham in L2 for part of last season and struggled to get into theior team (not saying he isn't a good player just giving some background).
-
I would play: -----------------------------Boruc----------------------------- Clyne----------Fonte-----------------Yoshida---------------Shaw ----------------------JWP--------------Cork--------------------- Mayuka---------------------Reeves-----------------------Lee ---------------------------Jay Rod-----------------------------
-
Reckon he has a good chance for this one. Was clearly training with the rest of the players on Friday and then has 10 more days to get ready for it.
-
It is, the Phillips bit is one small part. Total opposite to Adkins in that Holloway say way too much...sounded like he is trying to explain why he is about to join Blackburn to me...
-
NA on Saints Player said Ramirez is still recovering from his injury, but the videos show him and Cork training with everyone else. Would imagine Ramirez will be fine for WBA and Cork will probably start v Leeds.
