  1. As a journalist would see it we will be bottom 3. Not a tough call to justify it. Same for most promoted teams.
  2. Chill, I didn't say it would be easy to fix or that there is a huge problem. Just that I didn't feel we played as badly as others have suggested. The Champions League opposition were good and certainly better than us which didn't surprise me. Nothing wrong with that, and ultimately you will have your own opinion which is fine - no need to try to provoke! Thought Clyne looked good again and Davis used the ball well when he came on. If we make the additions Adkins knows we need then we will be competitive.
  3. Just watched and wasn't as bad as some have suggested. Two worldies and then two goals we could have done better on. Just need more flair and pace in final third.
  4. Agree, just looking for us to make them work for a win and hopefully show some kind of threat when we have the ball. A respectable loss and move on to Wigan.
  5. Good news.
  6. The Chief Exec can certainly give authority otherwise what's the point of him.
  7. Adkins also said we have had a conversation with their Chief Exec and I have spoken to Holloway.
  8. Adkins says he HAD spoken to Holloway and Cortese HAS spoken to the Chief Exec. Plus if the agent is also being reported then Phillips obviously keen...or his agent is.
  9. Excited...reality is promoted teams often struggle, staying up is an achievement. Next week we will be playing the English Champions. Jan 2011 we played Dagenham away. If you can't enjoy this then something is wrong.
  10. Stoke linked with Dunne for 3m. He is a good solid Prem player!
  11. Thanks
  12. Thanks - from the pre season games Ive seen Seaborne actually looked the most composed defender and by far the best passer of the CBs.
  13. Have you got a link to the Milan bit? He does sound what we need, strong and pacy.
  14. You can't argue with any publication that puts us in the bottom three. Reality for any promoted team is you do very well to stay up and if you can be outside the main dogfight then you have more than exceeded expectations.
  15. In his last press conference when Adkins was asked about Dann he said "right position, maybe not the right name".
  16. I think it would help. In the case of Jarvis and Fletcher at Wolves or Olsson at Blackburn - the clubs know they will leave - they just want the highest price which they get through dragging it out, creating a bidding war and making players desparate. Im pretty sure Fletcher will barely play for Wolves at the start of the season and then will leave in the week before the window shuts - its just a game that everyone has to play out.
  17. I saw an article the other day saying Silva and Balotelli might not be ready for the first game. How can they not be? They aren't injured - just not fit apparantly. Madness. If you go on all fans websites you will see a thread like this. Spurs have only Defoe as a striker at their club. Sunderland havne't signed anyone. West ham are struggling to bring quality in, Swansea have signed a few but are also losing their three best players. Its just what football is like. A step would be to close the window before the first game (I feel strongly this should be the case) and maybe this would make a difference. The point is that everyone plays cat and mouse until the last couple of weeks and then things start happening. Its just how it is, don't be suprised.
  18. Prost was probably the best thing Lowe ever did at Saints.
  19. They also have some duds like the expensive mistake Mauro Boselli, Albert Crusat, Franco Di Santo....plus Connor Sammon - the worst striker ever to play in the Prem. They did do well with the Hondurans though.
  20. Fair enough - I guess pre internet etc we didn't really know what was going on in so much detail. There is so much (too much) information these days and everything moves so fast and is very competitive.
  21. Wolves Manager today: "Jarvis is playing tomorrow....Bids are coming in for Jarvis & so far they have been turned down. Players have a valuation and that goes for everyone in the world. So far the valuation for Jarvis is bigger than the bids."
  22. IMO Zaha over Etherington. Reckon he has the pace and attacking versatility that can suit us but think Palace want a ludicrous price for him, afterall he didn't get many goals really last season.
  23. And to this I understand the thinking but lets just wait and judge at the end of the window when we know the full extent of our dealings. That is the fair time to judge and on that point is the reason why the window should close on the Friday before the first game of the season.
  24. Football is a ruthless game, the amounts of money changing hands are ridiculous. If you aren't 100% sure on something it doesn't get done. You don't have to give reasons, its your perogative before spending millions. There would have been a reason why we dithered on Gorkss, whether financial, player quality, agent fees etc - we don't have the facts so are only commenting on half stories.
  25. Here is a wacky scenrio for you to consider: Maybe we want to bring players in as Adkins has suggested, but don't actually want Jarvis. Just because he is a good player and is available, it doesn't mean we want him. What if Adkins wants a different kind of wide midfielder? Or prefers another target? if we don't go for Jarvis you can't link this in any way to our hopes for the season or our transfer policy.
