Could have signed him for 2m but it was when Beattie was flying and Drogba was seen as being only effective up front on his own and he went to Marseille...the rest is history. Not sure on Malouda to be honest. Adebayor was the one who Lowe didn't like his attitude. Can see why.

The retained list only refers to players out of contract. You can't release someone who is in contract unless they agree. Forecast will just be loaned out or hanging around Staplewood, as will a few others that are under contract and nobody wants ie Forte

IMO need to be ruthless. None of these players are up to the Premier League so I expect to see them all released, with maybe Jaidi coaching in some form with the youth setup? Bart is most likely to be offered a new deal but lets be honest...he isn't good enough and should get some regular games elsewhere. Its a shame for him, and if he somehow agreed to be 3rd choice maybe he will stay, but he isn't a good enough second choice keeper in the Prem (see Fulop yesterday) and I think we will being another keeper in anyway.

Rhodes isn't quick, and is all round game isn't brilliant. He is a great finisher and has lots of L1 goals. Lots of Prem teams haVe watched him but nobody has seriously moved for him. Also has to be said that l1 this yer wasn't as strong as when we were in it. MK Dons were woeful today and Hudds not much better. Realistically he is a huge gamble at Prem level for anything over £2/3m and would do well signing for Leicester or someone like that.

Garath McCleary has had a medical at Reading and seems likely to sign for them from Forest.

Great to get some good championship players etc but also don't underestimate the impact of an experienced Prem player ie a Danny Murphy or a Scharner. Would like us to bring in at least one or two who have played a fair few Prem games - they don't have to be old, what about Mark Davies if Bolton go down?
