FF, you obviously have a personal link to Gallagher which is fair enough, but I don't think he has really kicked on and demonstrated that he is a genuine PL option. Hopefully he is recalled from Dons and sent somewhere in L1 or 2 where he will start every week. There is obviously a good player in there somewhere but whenever Ive seen Sam I think he is still working out what type of player he is: needs to use his size more IMO to be a genuine target man striker.

We have gained 3 points from a possible 24 versus top 10 sides so far this season. Only Villa have a worse record (1 point).

They really do look excellent. Lots of work rate too. Only weakness is Mertesacker lack of pace really. Both full backs good and best in the league attack wise.

Pretty much worth man marking him. His influence is massive and City have given him so much space. Agree he is world class. Every pass is perfectly weighted. Quality player.

Goes without saying but unless we stop Ozil having an influence we have no chance. Hard really to see us stopping them scoring so will need to figure out a way of troubling them on the counter.

Long scored goals in 3 of the 32 league games he played in last year. Currently scored in 2 of the 9 he has featured in this year, so slightly better but he is clearly poor.

I know everyone loves chatting about Austin but: 1. Koeman has said he is too expensive 2. Austin himself said he will wait til the summer before going 3. Les Ferdinand said he could go if a big top 6 club comes in (which we obviously aren't) 4. The club specifically said in the summer we had no interest in Austin 5. He is a free agent in the summer so absolutely in his interests to wait til then and earn monster wages that we won't pay anyway (zero chance of him getting in the Euro squad whatever he does IMO) 6. We never spend big in January and indications have been we won't again so hardly likely to go spunking £8m on someone who in theory is free about 5 months later.

Similar profile of player to Demerai Gray so clearly in the market for a young, pacy attacker with potential which is good.

Those Southampton Way documentaries have been well put together but in hindsight a bit of an oops moment so far: Episode 1 - Reed and Wilson bigging up Cedric and Juanmi and explaining how we identifed them, beat off competition etc. One has been exposed defensively and isn't a patch on his predecessor, the other barely played. Episode 2 - Followed the European Journey which ended after an abysmal team selection in Denmark and an even worse performance. Episode 3 - Biographical video celebrating JWP's 100 games for Saints showing how he is still searching for an "elusive" open play goal and is the player the Academy lads all look up to. Reality being they probably aspire to be Walcott, Bale, AOC, Shaw or Chambers more and really JWP hasn't improved aince his first year in the squad. Can't wait for episode 4 which I'm reliably informed is Tadic and Pelle talking about how they can avoid a mid season slump in their second PL year because they are more PL experienced.

Jake Thomson also. Much better RB defensively than Cedric and knows English football.

We are/were a decent PL side, the richest in the league in the world. I like Maya but its quite small time to say we couldn't have a better third CB than him.

We don't tend to sign players from other PL sides.
