  1. I think the man is a buffoon who masks some really poor results with quips which help make him popular. Which is like someone else who took us down. I used to like him but then began to see through him, helped by some Argyle relatives who brought my attention to what he is like. But the fact that he would almost certainly be a better choice than the current puppet says it all.
  2. I was always getting kevin Moore & George Lawrence muddled up ;-) It was Kevin Moore that day. And it was the last time I went to Watford. And I am not going this Saturday as I had a choice out of that & bristol City.
  3. Just got mine online. It wasn't showing in ticket details but I went to Online Sales and they had them there. £25 for adults.
  4. Without Gerrard & Torres Liverpool would be Middlesbrough.
  5. That Camara goal V Norwich seems really popular but means nothing to me. Celebrated at the time but just has bad memories now. And I didn't even celebrate Higgy scoring at Selhurst Park despite everyone going mental around me. I knew it wasn't enough and just wanted us to get on with trying to score a winner. I am great fun at parties. For me at is Le Tiss V Arsenal, Pahars V Everton & skates, Horne V Bolton and one that I think was celebrated at least as much as any other at St Marys, Marsden V Wolves in the Cup Run (which seems to have been about 60 years ago now)
  6. I don't care about Spurs at all. Can't stand the saggy faced c**t who manages them, and couldn't stand him when he managed us. But don't care about Spurs. So though I hope they beat the Skates. Though I don't think the skates will go down as I think they will sign a few this month. I am not convinced their financial situation is as bad as the press have led us to believe
  7. I expect fergie sat down andpoured himself a glass of red satisfied with a job well done, without even doing anything. He would have loved that. Rafa has put extra pressure on himself and his own team now.
  8. Yes, unlike Rory Allen (who I assume you are 'named' after) Crap comeback I know, but Daily CDAJFU
  9. For the first few seasons of sponsorship, if your match was due to be on MotD or The Big Match, you were not allowed to wear your sponsored shirt and had to switch it for a blank one. As we were on TV loads in those days (pre live football and when TVS showed a weekly program), half of the time we had to wear an unsponsored shirt.
  10. England are playing egg chasing on Saturday, and the Hole in the Wall is often heaving when England are playing at Twickenham, so may be worth drinking elsewhere (though would not go to that awful antigallican at Charlton)
  11. It is on TV this Sunday early afternoon. Sadly, it is ITV so expect them to show the draw from a stupid angle http://www.livesportontv.com/sportindex.php?id=1

    ID cards

We have somehow managed to exist thus far without a national ID card, so don't see why we need one now. Think I first read 1984 about 12 years ago. I have read it a couple of times since and it is getting more & more realistic. Remember reading about someone voicing concerns over the ID card (may even have been on here) and they came up with an example which could well be true in 15 years or so the way we are going. You go in to a pub and order a pint and the barman asks for your ID (regardless of age). You give him your card and are refused service, as the card says that you have already had your 21 units of alcohol that week. May be far fetched, but I bet people would not have dreamed of a smoking ban in pubs 15 years ago
  13. Yeh, it was apparently meant as a dig at his arrogant attitude. There was his speech bubble response of "Bet I Don't" which was conveninetly airbrushed out when the fanzine was shown on MOTD. So though it was pretty poor taste, it was not meant in the way it was taken (but don't think it was ever going to be taken any other way!!) And agree with delldays, Branfoot was actually a top bloke. he just had us playing awful football that head us hurtling towards relegation about 11 years ahead of schedule. From the stuff I have heard from someone who works at Winchester College, he & Lew Chatterley have long talks on all that has gone wrong at the club in the last few years.
  14. Best ever for me. have only seen the (admittedly fantastic) highlights of Pele, but think he was a fantastic player in a brilliant team. Once England self destructed, that Brazil team in 70 were going to win the World Cup regardless of Pele or not. Maradona 'single handedly' won the 86 tournament for Argentina, and then dragged them to the 90 final. Plus he tested himself in South America and Europe, and succeeded. I wonder in 10 years time whether we will be comparing Ronaldo or Messi to either of them? I think it is possible.
  15. I am not 100%, but I think we won 3-2 away at Cov in 8788 from 2-0 down. Apart from the 5-4 at Norwich (from 3-1 down), I can't recall us doing this any other time since
  16. I think we may have won 3-2 at Coventry in about 87/88 from 2-0 down. But not sure that was last time we won in that situation or not. Apart from the Norwich one, I can't think of any other away games won from 2 down.
  17. I am not sure, but County Arms may be worth a go for the Saints match.
  18. Market Forces was the wrong phrase to use, but I do also say that I find it overpriced and would be happy if prices were lowered. Our prices aren't too bad compared with other clubs though are they? I think I paid about £23 (?)to stand at cardiff , and Palace & QPR are both more than us. I could look up all the prices but I can't be arsed. So yes, we are overpriced but we are not alone. I would be happy if we were to follow the likes of Bradford and reduce prices but I don't think it will happen. I am a season ticket holder and realise I will lose out if the prices are reduced, but TBH, the reason I have a season ticket is I can afford to pay for it in a lump sum. If I had to find money for 3 hiome games in a month (plus the on-costs), then I would struggle.
  19. Good grief. i like Alpne and a lot of what he says, and you always need a different opinion on tbings, but it is hard to see the relevance here. You can get in to watrch Barca (as a member) for about £12, bt market forces dictate our price (though it is overpriced, and as a St holder I have no problem with reduced prices to get more people in(
  20. Where someone says what a pile of shie And someoneelse says 'euell be sorry if you watch t'. hardly ringing endorsements. Still, cracking day out today so onwards and upwards
  21. Poor bloke hasn't even appeared on the sofa yet and is getting **** on here. I thought his performances towards the end of last season were not too shabby and he could be a useful player to help the yougsters at the moment. But then, you couldn't moan then.

I feel like I am being cited in a divorce case here. I think you're both great. But I do remember Corp saying he rated Redknapp when a lot of skates were slagging him off. I think the posts stood out as many of the skates on here were saying how bad a manager he was when we 'nabbed' him, whereas Corp did keep saying that he rated him. That is why the posts stood out. I would like to have it put on record that I thought Redknapp was quite funny for a while when he was at West Ham and I even read his book. Then I realised that the bloke is a self serving qunt and I didn't like him at the skates, us or back at the skates. So like Corp, I have been consistent.
  23. Congratulations. And I believe you get a free pint in the County Arms outside the hospital. though when my kids were born I never tested this out so I don't know if it is a myth.
  24. Can't imagine us selling out up there or Donny being in a position to turn you away so you should be OK. I am looking forward to but am wondering if there will be anywhere to get a beer etc up there. Assume the ground is on one of these retail parks like Bolton/Reading and there is nowhere for miles around.

I think in Corps defence he did always say he rated Redkanpp when he was here, and thought he was a good manager when many other skates were wishing him dead. My skate mates were saying that was the best atmosphere at fratton in ages after it had died off the last couple of years due to Westwood and der der der songs.
