Relegation - What two teams do we take with us
saintant replied to Lee On Solent Saint's topic in The Saints
Who'd have thought it....play attacking football, improve and win matches - maybe someone should point this out to Selles who continues to do what O'Neill was doing before he found the magic formula. -
Sounds like Nero fiddling while Rome burns. Horse is long gone so far too late to bolt the stable door.

Agree entirely. The slow shuffling of the ball at the back in an effort to show that we are a cultured football side is a joke. If you are going to play that way you must have full backs and centre backs who are switched on, ready to move into space and receive the ball, control it with one touch and move it on quickly. As well as that, the midfield must come short to receive the ball. We do none of this so it only plays into our opponents hands. Either learn to play the system properly (Man City are the masters but we don't need to be their level) or go down a different route because our plodders just look embarrassing. Let's get some wide players hugging the touch line and get some service to Tall Paul as well as stretching the opposition. One holding midfielder should be enough and probably Lavia is the best fit which leaves JWP without a role unless we play him further up the pitch. At the moment he is offering nothing because his lack of pace means he resorts to negative passes back and sideways - he's currently a problem rather than a solution. Start the game fast because we are always better when we do that instead of pointless possession just to keep things tight - take some risks for a change. Not sure what we do about the goalkeeper but those in charge should have realised very early in the season that Bazunu is not even close to being ready to play at this level - not convinced he ever will be. It's a mess and we know a reset is coming during the summer - the question is, have the clowns running the club got the nous to make the right calls or maybe Jason Wilcocks can work a miracle. We've fallen a long way and those in charge need to hold their hands up and take responsibility.

My comments, if not clear, are based on Tella being sold to Burnley or another Premier league club.
-
Not in the Premier league he isn't and we know from experience how much tougher Tella is likely to find it against better defenders as demonstrated by Adams and Armstrong. Both scored far more goals than Tella yet have struggled so I think he still has a lot to prove.
-
Unless he is completely incompetent he'd be hard pressed to make us any worse.

Be careful what you wish for?? Hasenhuttl v Jones v Selles

I agree but what I'm unsure about is what that level will be under the clowns that are Ankersen, Semmens and SR in general. The thought of them trying to reset the club at a crucial period fills me with dread. -

Totally irrelevant. We'd have been relegated with Ralph still in charge judging by his record over a long period. He'd lost the plot and probably the dressing room. -

Ralph should have gone in the summer and we should have appointed a competent replacement and signed a decent striker and goalkeeper. Instead Ankersen and SR allowed Ralph to bumble on until eventually he had to go. Ankersen then compounded the original error by appointing Jones which, in turn, led to Selles being promoted. If you then factor in the huge sums we have wasted on very poor signings it is no surprise we are the worst team in the Premier league. I'm afraid Ankersen and SR have been a complete disaster and I'm not sure where we go from here as the club is in free fall. -
Kelvin wasn't perfect but at least he regularly made brilliant saves - Bazunu doesn't and, to make it worse, he has two Cadbury flakes for wrists.
-
Brentford kept the guy who worked with Ankersen and was the brains behind their rise. Ankersen left and wasn't replaced.
-
The difference is the fans are paying a huge chunk of their incomes to watch this cluster fuck whereas the players are earning absolute fortunes and clearly are being allowed to get away with completely unacceptable performances week in week out. Sort out your own shit Selles, have the balls to read the riot act to this pathetic bunch and you might earn some respect and find the fans get behind you.

It was a Woy master class' He did the same at Leeds last week. A totally predictable second half.
-
Woy schooled us. It was a carbon copy of their game at Leeds last weekend except this time every shot they hit didn't go in. Very predictable that we'd have a decent first half then they'd turn on the after burners and cleanup in the second half.
-
He is.
-
Stop it! It's over so accept it. Forget the maths.
-
Even the very clever in his own mind Wankersen wouldn't be that stupid.
-
No point doing it now but he needs to be gone at the end of the season.
-
I suspect Selles has told them not to.
-
Not a chance.
-
You won't be fuming.
-
Yeah and add on another gift-wrapped 3 points when they play us.
-
Unforunately Rasmus and SR will be making the summer rebuild decisions.
-
Called this at half time. Woy was just waiting for the inevitable.
-
Woy will unleash his boys second half a bit like last week at Leeds. We needed to score a couple in the first half.
