Sometimes you have to admit your mistakes and take a hit to recoup some of what you paid out and to reduce the wage bill. Why keep him if he can't do the job we bought him for? Plus he's taking up a place in the first team squad.

Just been looking at Swansea fans forum. Their view on Piroe is that he has no pace and is poor in the air both offensively and defensively. Assuming they are right he's not what we need.

When he scored those goals AA had formed a lethal partnership with Harvey Elliott who was on loan from Liverpool. He has never had that kind of supply since joining us. I believe he'll score goals in the right set-up but I'm not sure we have the players or way of playing to give him the kind of supply he needs. Probably best for him and us if he moves on. Weren't Ipswich meant to be interested?

The Downs.

I'd be surprised to see us play five in midfield. Maybe Downes as the holding player with Smallbone and Grimes in front. If so presume Alcaraz would play as a forward.

It's good business but we are losing a couple of quality players so need to spend the readies wisely.

I think they are very different. Downes gets his foot in and is aggressive but not that much creativity. Grimes would be the heartbeat of the team, setting the tempo and has a superb range of passes especially 30-50 yards.

What's Mr Chips doing?

This will be a very tough game but they owe us one after the shit show on Tuesday. Hoping we come storming out of the blocks and put them under pressure.

I'm assuming Downes is viewed as the replacement for JWP although agree no official confirmation yet. Lavia hasn't featured this season but I'm sure he'll be replaced once we have the money from his transfer.

I watched it live on the official site but I'm sure it'll be available soon. A big chunk of it was about JWP although he also intimated that Lavia won't play tomorrow - no surprise.

Judging from RM comments at the press conference I think you are going to have to be patient. He said nothing is close at the moment and, whilst that could change, my take was that he doesn't expect new arrivals, other than possibly Downes on loan, in the near future.

If Liverpool really believe Caicedo is worth over double what Lavia is worth they need to give their head a wobble.

I take your point about the set-piece coach but currently, unless he can put a few on a rack and stretch whist at the same time beef them up physically we are going to continue to be bullied at corners and free kicks. Opponents will know this and target the weakness which is exacerbated by having a smallish keeper who generally stays rooted to his line and offers no help.
