I struggle to think why anyone would buy and read books he has written or pay and waste time attending one of his bullshit seminars.

That final 20 minutes against QPR was far worse. As a game plan to protect a 2-1 lead it was everything you shouldn't do. 11 men behind the ball hoofing it away and waiting for it to come back again with no attempt whatsoever to get the ball into the opponents half. A kids football team manager would do a better job. Eckert showed that he had no idea how to manage that final 20 minutes other than a backs to the wall desperate defensive set up which, more by luck than judgement, saw us hold out until the final whistle. That cameo rung huge alarm bells about his ability and he needs to return to the U21s asap to continue learning his trade because he is currently far from ready to manage at Championship level.

There is more to them than Granit Xhaka although I agree he was an astute signing. They have packed their squad with pace and power because they realise that is what is needed to compete in the Premier League. Our little snowflakes would be like lambs to the slaughter if we were playing Premier league teams and they aren't physical enough for the Championship either.
-
No thanks. Another slow, small player who can't compete physically is the last thing we need.
-
We continue to recruit players who are too lightweight. Spors suggested he was going to fix this but he has done little other than signing Quarshie who is one for the future and the recent signing of Romeu. Spors should be studying other clubs like Bournemouth, Brentford, Palace and Sunderland. We have far too many shrinking violets who shirk at the first sign of a physical battle.
-
I think there is a clique at the club and the ringleaders are Capt Jack, THB and Downes all of who were dropped by Still.
-
Probably not available but there is a guy in Scotland who currently has Hearts unbeaten and above both Celtic and Ranger. Derek McInnes has his side playing 442 so no 3 centre back nonsense. Some of his success is attributed to the fact that Brighton owner Tony Bloom has a 29% stake in the club meaning they have access to his analytical scouting network tools. If only we had someone as clever as Bloom instead of Rasmus and his off the wall nonsense.
-
The unique thing about football managers is that 99% of them become available because they failed elsewhere. So you either have to pick the one that looks a decent fit for your club and hope it works out or take a chance on someone young, who shows promise, has a side playing good football and looks ready to step up. Both are gambles which have the potential to go horribly wrong but are less risky than considering a 32 year old U21 manager who was never a pro and has never managed in men's football. Spors is paid very good money to make the correct decision. Let's hope he does so.

Yeah, plus all those hairy arsed scotsmen who support Rangers. Strangely they didn't see the attraction of suicide football, poor excuses and underfit players. Funny how this has changed so quickly under Rohl - you'd almost believe the previous bloke was clueless.
-
I think many believe he didn't take kindly to being dropped by Will Still who had never been a professional footballer and that's when he ejected his playthings from the pram. If true it means Eckert, who also was never a pro and has far less management experience than Still, will never have the minerals to drop him however many howlers he makes,
-
No, I'm comparing results. I said nothing whatsoever about the management credentials of either Still or Slot.
-
Liverpool have 3 points over the last 6 games so I guess Arne Slot will be available soon 🙂
-
Well he's younger than Will Still and from what I can gather he's also never played football professionally. He's far less experienced than Still at management yet, because he's scraped a couple of wins, we are expected to meekly submit as SR make an even worse decision than their last one. We were told Still wouldn't work because his lack of a playing career would mean our little wallflowers wouldn't respect him and here we have someone who will be in the same boat. If it happens it's madness.
-
No, it sounds like they are hoping he gets decent results in the next 3 games which look fairly tough. We have Charlton away led by Mad Nate who will be desperate to put one over on us. Then it's Leicester at home and we always really struggle against them. Last of the three is Millwall away and they currently sit 6th so must be doing something right. If Eckert manages a minimum win and two draws I think SR will let him carry on. Anything less and they may be forced to bite the bullet and bring someone in but a degree of damage will have been done depending on how bad the results go.
-
Actually they can and will.
-
Maybe you're right. However, I think the fact that WS dared drop Capt Jack, THB and Bazunu (rightly in my view) was poorly received by the thee players concerned. Downes is another who would probably have joined this cliquey group along with the likes of Manning, AA, Aribo and Edozie. It's very easy to see how the dressing room turned against WS for just calling it how he saw it. I liked that about him. He was honest but, in the end, it was his downfall because once you lose a group of senior players it's all over.
-
Agree but I bet he's super popular in the dressing room.
-
Eckert has presided over a lucky win over a poor QPR who had just been walloped by Ipswich whilst we clung on for dear life during a torrid final 20 minutes which was totally mismanaged plus a win over basket case club Sheff Wed who, despite all their problems, caused us plenty of problems. Prior to said two wins not one fan would have advocated that he be even remotely considered for the vacant managerial position. You couldn't make it up.
-
It must have been hard for the poor little flowers. Nasty words from the nasty man. How about he was only telling some home truths and their precious egos couldn't handle it. This bunch of players really are hard to like. Obviously didn't put 100% in for Still and couldn't give a fuck that they lost him his job. They didn't like him being honest, it's not something they are used to so he had to go.
-
You start to get the distinct feeling that this whole process is going to move at glacial pace. It seems as though the lad's two wins mean SR will give him at least another game so they have more time to dither over appointing someone permanently. Fairly typical of how they operate. Wish we could get rid of them and bring in some football people who know what they are doing. It's been make it up as you go along from these clowns since day one. Thanks for nothing Semmens.
-
If true it gets madder! Shows they are not that confident in any of the three if they think there'd be a backlash after a loss away to Charlton which many expect to happen anyway regardless of who is in charge. Time SR grew a pair.
-
Sounds like a very thorough process. You'd think SR would manage to get something right once in a while.
-
Yes, so why play with wing backs when we don't have any at the club. Madness.
-
Agree. I know he joined in the playing from the back under Russboy but when he tries it now it all looks rushed and ends up in one of our defenders panicking and launching it long so achieves nothing.
-
I'll be interested to see whether SR choose a new manager who hates playing 3 centre backs as much as most of our fans do. I suspect they'll appoint someone to carry on this nonsense rather than a coach who will insist on a flat back four.
