Who are considered good captains nowadays anyway, really ? Someone who inspires their team and can turn it around using their own force of will, I dont think there are many. Thinking De bruyne, Benzema and then I'm struggling. Most captains seem to be either the best player or one whose been their the longest and I really don't think captains like Keane could exist in the modern game anymore as there would be too much sulking.

Shane Long is in my opinion a moneyball type signing, he does 1 undervalued task exceptionally, drawing fouls from defenders in their half which allows our team to reset and push up, this is especially helpful when we need an out ball. I would love to know how many fouls against per mins on the pitch he has - it must be up there at the top in the EPL, he should become a coach at it when he retires. He gives teams 3 things - pace, work rate and drawing fouls, he doesnt score much but then again a lot of our players don't either and cant match his other attributes. Good luck amigo

I think that with a lot of these links where we see other teams supposed interest i think it comes down to 2 main factors for them. 1. How much money the player is getting 2. Does he think he will play a lot. With these bigger name teams he will get more money but less opportunity, maybe better for him to get slightly less money with us but play a lot more and move on to a bigger club after for mega bucks.

I liked it on video how it said similar players is Joey Veerman (now at PSV) who we were apparently interested in a bit last summer. Also how he looked to pass forward first.

I really hope we can get someone in midfield who can move the ball forward quickly for the attackers/wide men to directly attack the goal (eriksen/playmaker type). I feel we are too stodgy and predictable for a while, we mess around in midfield and then pass out to wingers to try and make something happen as the other teams reset in defence. I think with JWP in midfield " he's the playmaker" we sort of have our own Ronaldo issue. He scores mainly deadball goals, provides assists but in open play he is not the man to do the quick pass forward, creative through ball etc (in my opinion, neither is Romeu), therefore is the JWP, Romeu, Diallo too conservative for our side in an attacking sense. I don't know the answers but they've been our mainstays in midfield for a while now and Danny Ings aside all our forwards have struggled.

I never saw Diallo as a Romeu replacement he's not that sort of player. I see him more of a JWP replacement, he's quicker and more front footed and would work well with romeu or another behind him, a bit like how Keita played with Kampl at red bull.
