Have we ever been rich

To be honest I've only see Davies v us and I'm not sure that is enough data to go one but he looked more positive than Hoj in going forward so dug out a scout report. He's also 5ft 11 so is taller than i remember and apparently his height is one of his strengths and it plays an important role in winning take-ons, interceptions and tackles. To be honest reading just this and how Ralph likes us to play i think he could be another recycled gem a la Bertrand/Romeu vein. .http://outsideoftheboot.com/2017/02/16/scout-report-tom-davies-the-emerging-everton-and-england-starlet/ "So he can be considered as an attacking minded central midfielder with good offensive traits who can defend well.

Had a quick look last night and thought too much effort but now I am working the company can pay for me to reply ;-) Which current or ex Saint would you hire to the following roles within the club, and why? Academy Manager I would put in Wayne Bridge as academy manager - he can talk up the pitfalls of professional live, money, agents, your team mates shagging your girlfriend and use his jungle survival experiences to keep their feet on the ground. Ticket Office Manager Paul Telfer - Great man manager - can chat to our fans in the pubs and bars and has the common man touch needed to deal with customer service. Commercial Manager Easy choice - Barry Venison - bazza is now a real estate mogul in US taking over non performing mortgages so is perfectly placed to understand Gao's money issues and how to work around it. Canteen Gaffer Neil Shipperly - he believes in tasting everything he cooks and will make sure no one else jacks off into the food. Head of Security Ulrich Van Gobbel - no explanation necessary

The Bouf is the most skilful player in our team by far, he could nutmeg a caterpillar. Unfortunately we are using effort and tactics to overcome superior players in the opposition teams - The Bouf is not so great at that. Nice player from the bench in this team, brilliant player in other team where others work for him.

You would of thought it would of been decided by now given everton have brought in Allan, Rod, and Dacoure. Not sure what their squad depth is but I would of thought they would keep the local lad (cheaper) and try and loan out the high paid ones. Edit - just checked their forum and once I got past the 8 pages talking about their dugouts it seems the only source for this is Crook on Talksport whose job it is to create content to discuss.

The Sunday Times - Southampton put up for sale at £250m
Convict Colony replied to The Odd Guy's topic in The Saints
Yeah I truly dont understand the press route unless they are trying to lower the price via pressure otherwise you have the finances or you dont and the due diligence has been done. -
Total Saints Podcast - Season 2020/21
Convict Colony replied to TotalSaintsPod's topic in The Saints
Ok have finally got round to subscribing - will listen to the last one -
Am going to be crazy Same team except for McCarthy - would replace him with Gunn if we need a sweeper keeper or if I am greedy I'd give salisu some time.

Nice one -
Adams will score over 10 goals this season.

Short term pain for long term gain. Like all tactics, learning requires failure and we have learnt a lot from yesterday, both in our pressing and tactical application. If we get a ready made pressing midfielder, slot in Salisu and the other players learn the movements better then I expect more goals for and less against.

A good article on this in the atheletic this morning by Dan Sheldon. A brief snippet from it from Ralph before our game on Sun. “I think it was a way of defending which we want to do in the future,” Southampton’s manager explained. “In the first two games, I didn’t think we gave too many chances away. It looked more critical than it was. “You can be sure that we will always find the right balance of defending high and the position we need to adapt to every opponent. That’s the reason we have to be flexible in this part. Against some opponents, it can be helpful if we are a little bit higher.”

Just scouted around and gone through my own personnel scout list to see what happened over the weekend. - Koopmeiners - played but AZ drew and he seemed to be average in that game - Mangala (stuttgart) played but they lost and he also seemed to be average in that one as well. - Laimer (RB Leipzig) a never going to happen signing but apparently the austrian machine has a knee injury. - Mwepu (RB Salzburg) played well in an easy win at home. - Also a shout out to Mckennie who played the full game for Juve yesterday.

From ralph's comments over the last week or so he seems to be suggesting that he expects us to get a CM and a winger if Boufal leaves. I really do think we are waiting for the transfer window sales to begin for clubs who have been hit harder by covid and the window is shortly closing so we get a good player cheaper. Wouldnt surprise me if we start hearing names again later this week.
-
Would be interested to know if its FFP or just no money availble. They used to give wages as the reason but we have a few out and hopefully hoedt again soon.

I know what you mean but i dont think there was an alternative formation where we would compete with spurs, counterattacking, possession etc etc so can handle it as a learning step. To play this system will enable us to beat teams with better players, however we dont have the fitness i believe or players yet (MF and CB) to be confident enough we can be mroe effective. High line or both CB's hanging back, either way I am not confident in them together and also would love a new goalie if I was being greedy.

Longer than the validity of this comment if you cant see what he is trying to do.
-
I like this a lot, good insight.

Ralph and CEO take the flak every week while the real culprits reside in Switzerland and China behind a wall of silence. Ralph is a better manager than our squad allows, could see him being a cheap option at spurs once mourinho has pissed everyone off.

Posted in other area but from my point of view I think the high line is the next step of our evolution of our system which unfortunately we don't have the personal for or have not had enough preparation time with the existing players for them to understand hence looking like a shower of shit defensively. I dont know if Che is just unlucky in that he's hitting shots that normally dont get saved but he feels so close to turning the corner but his build up play has been great. In 1 month I think we will look very different playing this system, Salisu will be a starting CB and hopefully we have a pressing midfielder and another option to come into the team. Thought Djenpo looked good, shoud stay in the team. Also has Steve got paid by the club to make it harder to log in after a bad game

I'd rather sell all 3 of our goalkeepers and buy another one and have a youth team on the bench.

World class MLG'ing

No doubt we are shopping in a store we can't afford at present and are waiting for the near end of the transfer window for the covid sale to begin.
