  1. Yeah that's what I think when I see Sanchez chasing down every ball and trying to play every game for Arsenal, or messi being the best player in the world who hardly ever gets injured. I don't think avoid south america is the problem, its the player fitting into whatever system is being played not where they come from and that issue is club related.
  2. I like under armour stuff so I can now buy it again cos I couldn't since they sponsored spurs. Isn't Veho up this year as well, wonder who and how much we will get for our next ones ? expecting it to be 3-4mil.
  3. Nope
  4. Yes 100% Romeu looks like he can actually score and shoot, Claise sets up more people than cilla black, no way vic comes straight back in, no way. If he does Koeman loses all the goodwill be rebuilds with this win.
  5. Tonight I finally saw the guy i'd seen in the Eredevisie. I know he was called the Dutch Xavi but f*ck that he is the Dutch Pirlo. Not blessed with pace and not a tackling machine but his first time passing tonight was out of this world and did the full 95mins. His % complete stats are probably average but some of the no look "attacking" passes he did from deep to other players tonight was very very good and that ball to Davis who I thought was actually onside was amazing. Now if we could just stop Fonte and Betrand passing it back to the goalie to lump up field from the half way line i'd be very happy.

  8. Can I be the first to say I've never heard of Stefano Sturaro but if we offerred 17mil and still got rejected then I assume he must be decent. Obligatory youtube and article: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wu1mO2GOmsE http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2594149-stefano-sturaro-is-an-emerging-talent-both-now-and-in-the-future-for-juventus
  9. Koeman's own column in the De Telegraaf today: http://www.telegraaf.nl/premium/telesport/voetbal/buitenlands/24972189/___Koeman__Geen_paniek__.html?lightbox=false Do not panic at Southampton Ronald Koeman Southampton breaks an important week. We have three home games against Crystal Palace today for the FA Cup, Wednesday against Watford and then at the weekend against West Bromwich Albion, both for the Premier League. We have the opportunity to achieve good results and that would be fine after some setbacks. Everyone realizes that our club in the previous season was above normal and that this season would be difficult. We all except play bad football, but we have many opportunities needed to make a goal. There are exceptions in a difficult period. Against Arsenal it was quite a time, and then we promptly won 4-0 the leader. Because when we got the room. From West Ham United was the game's first three quarters fantastic. We had, I express myself still modest, in the calm with 2-0 should stand for. Then West Ham has no more faith and power. Now it was only 1-0 for us and came back West Ham. Norwich out was another separate story. One shot at goal and nothing else of Norwich, but we lost it. With a few injuries and the changes that took place in the summer, you know that it can be equally difficult in a given period. By Graziano Pelle and the England international Jay Rodriguez, a real attacker with great scoring ability, for example, we missed two good strikers. The club understands that well. Nobody is worried and panic is not involved. "With club in talks about future" - It is true that the club talks to me about the distant future. The proportions are excellent. We are constantly in contact with each other, talk about ambitions and budgets, but it is not necessary for me to take all decisions now. My contract runs a year anyway. I also enjoy every day with my staff of our work here. Just take the start of the FA Cup this weekend. Since my youth is the image of those managers, who with their team onto the Wembley pitch for the final of the FA Cup, in my head. It is a huge amount of competition with regard to all over the world. It is for everyone an incredible achievement when you get Wembley. The route is long, but also Aston Villa drew last year nearly the finals. So why would it be for Southampton as a club can not among the top six? You also need to have some luck in the draw. I go there with my team full of how important the Premier League is for us. I do not believe in the rotation with players in different leagues. Others may do it, but in the Europa League and League Cup I did earlier this season either. I choose as a coach likes continuity at all positions. Moreover, the large clubs have more quality to choose from.
  10. “We believe you have to play football thinking about the opponent’s goal more than your own,” “You pick players to attack, you form them to defend.” Jorge Sampoli It would be awesome to watch this happen to us.
  11. Was terminated from Spartak Moscow Jun 14, lasted 6 months there.
  12. Biesla is a bit nuts, not sure he would get on with Les and we need a bit of stability, imgaine Biesla saying what he thinks !! he'd be Mourinho on steroids
  13. Right first things first this is not a sacking thread or me wanting Koeman out (I like Ron and his style) but obviously recently there are rumblings of discontent and he is in no hurry to renew so thought it would be prudent to have a thread to chat about other managers out there who we could potentially target if we do need to replace Ron. So in the spirit of this I am putting forward one Jorge Sampoli - He speaks english and is the current Chilean head coach - we obviously know how he's done in the WC and Copa . I recommended him when he was still domestic club coach in Chile on the Adkins thread in 2012 (see below), he is a Biesla disciple so would be playing the same way as Poch had us. I think he would come here and his style has been shown to be effective via Poch transplanting it here. Updated Article for those who want to know more - http://fusion.net/story/100236/if-marcelo-bielsa-and-tony-pulis-had-a-love-child/ "06-11-2012, 05:07 PM #255 Other guys to consider would be Jorge Sampoli - http://backpagefootball.com/jorge-sa...ressive/44122/ He took Universidad de Chile to the South American equivalent of the Europa cup and some how only conceded 2 goals in the comp and had the leading scorer in the comp. That victory is probably the biggest win in chilean club football from what I understand as my Chilean mate was going nuts about them. The guy is a preparation machine."
  14. I'm not saying he will solve all our problems, he will however offer more of a goal and assist threat than Davis and JWP currently do in the AM position and is taller than both of them as well so would add more value to that position than the current players in my opinion. Have him on the bench understudying Davis this season then starting next. 6mil pound for a 22yr old (how much did we spend on Mayuka?) who will grow and the dutch national team have thought enough of to select him for a euro qualifier (he pulled out injured) and are currently fighting Moroccan national team for his representation seems like a good deal all round. He has also been scoring and assisting this season in a Twente team that has been getting hammered so its not like he is doing it in a good team, imagine what he could do with better players.
  15. Mate I give you full props as I have just checked out last summers chat as I mentioned him as well then and found the following: Your Input SuperSAINT SuperSAINT is offline Full Member Join Date Nov 2006 Posts 4,996 Default Bit late to talk about transfers now, I know, but this fella was the chap Twente purchased to replace Tadic. @OptaJohan: 23 - Hakim Ziyech has been involved in 23 of @fctwente's last 24 Eredivisie goals. Superb. Our Dutch Friends Input: Originally Posted by ADutchSaint Ziyech is not a winger tho, he's a classic attacking midfielder and im surprised no club in Europe picked him up this summer. Im 100% convinced that he's going to be a class player in a few years and if i was Koeman, i would pick him up if there's some budget left in the winter cause the current squad could use a player like Ziyech. Twente needs to sell as they are in financial trouble. They do have some great players who are up for grabs but they're not yet as good as Tadic. Ziyech is an attacking midfielder with high potential...
  16. Its a no brainer, 22yrs old, captain of twente, 5ft 10in so not a midget and is all about self improvement (see below). "He said on the current Twente team, “We have a young team, of course. And I understand that some players struggle with their motivation and confidence. But sometimes I see them make mistakes and I think, did you learn from it? ” http://www.espnfc.com/blog/espn-fc-united-blog/68/post/2767732/hakim-ziyech-could-be-world-class-playmaker-at-bargain-price "Imagine that your club is looking to sign a creative midfielder in January. How would you react if someone told you that a young star, who is directly responsible for 83 percent of his team's goals this season, is available on the market at a very reasonable price? Doesn't that sound like science fiction? This is a figure that neither Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez nor Riyad Mahrez and Odion Ighalo could even dream of. And yet it is true: Hakim Ziyech, 22, has scored 10 times and provided five assists for Twente, who only have 18 goals in Eredivisie play this season. They can do virtually nothing without him. It must be said that Twente are in a very deep crisis from every possible angle. These past 12 months have been phenomenal for Ziyech, but disastrous for the proud club from Enschede, who are on the verge of financial collapse. Chairman Aldo van der Laan was forced to resign last month over an illegal agreement with Malta-based company Doyen Sports. (Those of the investment in players fame when we were looking at Rojo, Tadic was also repped by them) Most of their leading players were sold in the summer, including young Mexican prodigy Jesus "Tecatito" Corona, who signed for Porto; prolific striker Luc Castaignos, who moved to Eintracht Frankfurt; and Danish captain Andreas Bjelland, whose career at Brentford hasn't started yet following a serious knee injury. Ziyech was also supposed to be on his way out, but he decided to stay, was given an armband and proved to be a true leader. His contribution in such difficult circumstances is incredible, and fans can hardly imagine the team without him. Twente are next to bottom nevertheless, with just 13 points from 17 games in the first half of the season. Relegation is not the greatest threat the club is facing nowadays, and they have no choice but to sell their biggest asset in January, not only because they are hoping to get about €10 million for him, but also because they can hardly afford his wages anymore. Ziyech earns €800,000 annually, and that is one of the reasons he signed for Twente in the summer of 2014. Feyenoord were also interested in his services, following his brilliant breakthrough season at Heerenveen, but Twente offered far superior financial terms and also looked a more interesting option from the professional point of view."
  17. Ziyech currently being quoted at 8mil euro's which for a talented 22yr old attacking midfielder role seems a steal but Twente are in financial trouble. He's been the star of the team this season, currently stats to date - 17 Games - 10 Goals - 5 Assists And I know people will say dutch league but for the price of half a schlong you get a guy who can become the goal scoring playmaker we need and for the next 6 months understudy Davis before getting the no.1 spot the following season. Suppose the question is will we hold off getting a AM in as the club is intent on JWP making the step up so we can live up to our "mantra".
  18. Someone needs to give them Luttwak's practical handbook on how to do it. http://www.amazon.com/Coup-d%C3%89tat-Practical-Edward-Luttwak/dp/0674175476/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8
  19. Biggest problem is: Attacking Midfielder (Davis) hardly ever scores and his replacement (JWP) only has scored a penalty for us. This time last year both Morgan and Vic had scored 6 goals, so far this year our DM partnership has 1 goal (Romeu) Tadic does not score enough for the positions he gets into, same with Shane Long. Pelle needs 5 chances for every 1 goal scored.
  20. yeah pretty agree with this but I'd lump Mane in Koeman's bucket as well as he said he saw Mane tear Ajax a new ars*hole in a friendly and was keen to sign him. “I know the player because last season Ajax Amsterdam played against Red Bull Salzburg in Europe, and I saw him playing and I was impressed with his qualities and with the physicality that he showed. “He can play in different positions in the attack – he can play on the left or right side and also as a number nine. It is incredible how many goals he has scored from his position, and I hope that he will do the same for us. “With the way that we play and the fact that I know him very well, this is a good step forward for him.” http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20140901-announcement-sadio-mane-joins-southampton-1892373.aspx#5EGYRRVom8fVDU9y.99
  21. Think we can all agree that we've been talking about lack of central midfield goals from JWP/Davis for the last 2 seasons and we definitely have needed a clinical striker since Ricky left our current lot need too many chances and if Tadic/Madic are off form supplying them then we have no chance.
  22. Imbula has been pretty average for Porto this season hence they want rid after only 6 months, "can't settle" is a euphemism for he's crap for the money we paid for him and we need someone else.
  23. central midfielders preferably attacking who know how to score. I think Davis has been awesome this year for us but he still has only scored 2 goals in 1.5 seasons so far and jwp the FEC has 1 goal which is a penalty. Look what Eriksen (Ajax - Eredevisie product) does for spurs and he cost like 10mil. Rather than create problems create solutions so I'd like to see this guys come in, Hakim Ziyech, scored 10 from AM so far this season for Twente.
  24. I can't believe how lucky both their goals were.
