10pts from 5 games is automatic promotion form with a team that's lost and changed lots of players and are playing a new system in a new league. Jason Wilcox, premier league winner, Man City academy director for 10yrs who they didn't want to lose is "supposedly" the expert 🤣
-
He basically picks anyone whose given him a reach around.
-
Let's not damn the man after 5 games, we have 10 points and something that needs to be worked on during the next 2 weeks, also hopefully some better set pieces to be developed. Aside from the defending one thing that I still don't like is the walk the ball.around in the final 3rd giving the oppo time to reset, that needs to change either faster passing or execute better in the transition.

Sulemana and Fraser on wings Hardwood Bellis in CB. Charles and Downes CM Alcaraz AM Adams or Drogba upfront
-
This is either bad or becomes a 0-0 after 2 teams look to keep it tight and bounce back from losses.
-
Some one needs to take a taser onto the pitch and once we score everyone gets tased to wake them up.
-
I look forward to seeing how Martin addresses this, the defence and more directness in attack, he's got a lot of work on.
-
Incase anyone missed it, Wilcox interview the other day after transfer window etc https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0gb997f
-
If Wilcox thinks we need a keeper he will get a free one or loan one.

This is the sort of posts i like on here, someone has gone and looked at each of the goals and given a fair reflection of what went wrong rather than building a narrative on 1 player. Teams concede goals together and from the forwards backwards they all carry blame from not tracking back, missing tackles, giving the ball away etc etc before the ball is even near the goalie. Its like we expect the goalie to be an un-defeatable robot, they make mistakes. People keep lauding kasper schemical but he conceded 6 v spurs, 4 v bournemouth etc etc, its never just the goalie.

I was wondering what the problem was bro, you've nailed it.

Sekou Mara - Official: Signs for Strasbourg
Convict Colony replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
To be fair to him Martin for some reason played him as a winger and everyone was shit yesterday. Not seen many posts slagging off our midfield, it's always our forwards or defence, midfield get a pass always. -
Ah welcome to the future, this was discussed in June when he signed to us. I can tell you our first 4 league games we went undefeated so if I was you I'd put 1000 on a accumulator and then for the 5th game predict Sunderland to beat us 5-0.
-
This and a turnover machine cos he runs down blind alleys. He's a winger in this system nothing else, he can do less damage there.

I think the problem is that as soon as the ball is past them offensively they are meant to tuck into the midfield ahead of the CB's and clear the first ball as it comes back. What seems to happen is they don't really commit and are half in half out and the oppo gets the ball and is played out wide from the CBs into the space. Saw a nice vid on Pepe which said this is your position, for this part of the pitch if you don't follow it you are subbed, Henry didn't follow it , scored a goal but was subbed at half time for not following orders. Also I saw KWP do a lot of lateral runs today, not sure why but he went no where everytime.

Am gonna say these 3 shouldn't think they are

RUSSELL Martin hopes that Saints' 5-0 defeat to Sunderland, which ended their unbeaten start to the Championship, will be the wake-up call his players need. Bradley Dack put the Black Cats four goals ahead just after the break, taking the Saturday lunchtime kickoff out of Saints' reach. Gavin Bazunu pulled off some important saves to prevent Sunderland from adding to their lead before 16 year old Chris Rigg rounded off the game with his first senior league goal. Despite making a fast start to life back in the second tier, earning 10 points from their first four games, Martin has repeatedly pointed out his dissatisfaction with the performances against Plymouth and QPR. Speaking to Sky Sports immediately after his first league loss as Saints manager, Martin continued that message, saying: “It was deserved. "To start the game so poorly makes it difficult, but our reaction to the dissapointment or to defend in the final third, all the stuff we had worked on, (wasn’t good enough.) “Sunderland just fought more. They came out of every single duel with the ball pretty much and had much more willingness than us to run when out of possession. “I said before the game that we have so much to improve on amidst all the noise and the chaos of the last 10 days - late last night two of the players thought they were moving but they didn’t. “But that’s not an excuse when you step onto the pitch, especially here. The game plan goes out of the window a little bit when you go 2-0 down. “I think the fifth goal sums us up, we let the guy do three turns in our half with no contact at all. He crosses it and they score. "I don’t think that happens if one of our players does that, I’m pretty sure one of our players ends up on the floor from a Sunderland player. "The mentality was a big problem today. "However good you are on the ball, if you don’t want to run it’s a big problem. “I told the players that we need to make sure that this is a hugely important day for us in terms of understanding what the Championship is all about. "It’s important for me not to overreact with all the hurt, your ego is dented when you get beat and it’s on the TV."

I would rather get spanked before the break when we can work on it rather during the run of tough games after
-
I needed that laugh
-
Edozie/KWP maybe cos they dont like going backwards quickly
-
I will put a cheeky 1000 quid on him being the most improved saints player this season. It can only go up surely ?
