  1. I've not seen enough of him but it's the same with any young midfielder, we pin all our hopes on them because they show a brief spark of potential. Is Wilshere this amazing midfielder we hear so much about? Probably not, it's just hype because he's English and has somehow found a bit of technique from somewhere. If Danny Welbeck didn't play for United, would he get a sniff at the England team? No because he's **** bloody poor. Same with Sturridge. Those two **** me off. Welbeck unfortunately will now be an automatic pick because he's young, plays for United and scored what I would argue was a fluke against Sweden to give us the win at Euro 2012.
  2. A lot of the time it doesn't work, it assumes users have stable and fast internet connections, people are still managing to get pirated copies of the game to work. Basically it's a flawed system and a flawed concept.
  3. I was 12 at the time, it's the first event that stopped the news in its tracks which fascinated me. Prior to it, other than Diana dying I can't remember an event that took up every single minute of every single channel (well, the ones we had, BBC One and Two, ITV, CH4 and a very scrambled Five) for so long.
  4. The projector in the supporter's bar needs a new light bulb too.
  5. Indeed, and if Bluestar bus can sort out free wi-fi, South West Trains can get a move on as well.
  6. He manages the Franchise. That's no way to earn credibility or be liked.
  7. Graham is a very good guy who got a lot of unfair stick from fans, especially on Saints Forever. I did some work for him for the OS in about 2006. He's still knocking around, I saw him before the Wigan game at the press entrance. I think his son works on the desk there, where the journos pick up their ID badges etc. Not quite sure who he works for these days, he might even still be at the Premier League.
  8. I watched a bit of the JPT tie between the blue few and Bompey earlier this week. Simon Thomas, who had the unfortunate job of trying to big up the tie and basically lie to the audience by saying there is an intense rivalry between the two, said something along the lines of "not even the most ardent Southampton fan would wish Portsmouth to go out of business." Not true I'm afraid. How can a club that has continuously flouted the rules and been in administration THREE TIMES be allowed to carry on? I'm afraid it's beyond shambolic. Liquidate them. I have no sympathy at all. Let the people of Portsmouth show what they're REALLY like. According to the blue few themselves, they are a well supported club. Wimbledon were not a club with huge levels of support, but they still rode the crest of a wave made of true football fans that wanted a football club in Wimbledon, and rose from the Combined Counties League to the Football League in ten years. If Portsmouth DO have amazing fans like they say (I like many of you don't see it myself) they'll be able to do it quicker, and they'd do non-league football a huge favour. Clubs in the Combined Counties League were on the verge of going out of business until AFC Wimbledon turned up with their away fans, boosting the coffers and keeping them in business. Imagine if AFC Portsmouth had the fans they say they have and turned up at the likes of Moneyfields etc. Sadly, it's just not seen as an option. They believe they're a special case, and they're just not.
  9. Yes I know, I did watch the video. Whilst I agree that it takes too long to get through a season, I'm not sure making an 'FM Lite' version is the way forward. It's just one extreme or the other, basically. Of course there will be a 'huge number of improvements', not many people are going to pay up to £40 for the same thing that came out last year with updated squads. Personally, even if it does take too long to get through a season, I'll probably ignore the 'Classic' thing altogether. I'm also not totally sure about the whole control over the Director of Football thing - I can't recall too many times when a DoF has been hired or fired by a manager. That has always been, as far as I can make out, an appointment by the supremo - the Chairman or owner. There are a few successful ones, Dan Ashworth at West Brom and Nick Hammond at Reading, but there's always a Damien Comolli or two out there. Have any of those ever been sacked by the manager? If anything the DoF can sack the manager.
  10. Not overly impressed. Very tacky additions, the challenge mode and unlockables. I thought the idea was for the game to be realistic, but you can buy the option to not be sacked? I realise they're in a different mode or whatever but I'd prefer them to improve the game rather than create different takes on it.
  11. Miles is a bad actor. Good job he's a top games makery bloke.
  12. I was just confused as to two different things happening at once so yes, the explanation was needed!
  13. Did you bet on Danny Guthrie?
  14. Oh I see!
  15. Still confused to be honest. I get that this Bill bloke is unhappy but has already announced to the world who he is, but why is Guided Missile talking about taking legal action due to a contravension of the Data Protection Act? I've probably read it wrong, it's been a slow and boring day in the office and I'm losing the will to live and cannot maintain high concentration levels.
  16. I'm confused.
  17. Indeed, nice gesture Malc. Got six points. So my driving licence is now higher in the league table than we are.
  18. Depends if he wants to participate in genuine competition anymore. He's nothing to prove to anyone, after all.
  19. I can only tell you what happened, and I have! The police did not believe it should go any further, I was told the victim of the accident (whom I did not even collide with) recommended that I should be prosecuted and later I was in Aldershot magistrate's court.
  20. As someone who has been involved in the exact same scenario, allow me to correct you. When an accident of that nature happens, the victim is required to fill out a report which at one point asks 'Do you think driver that is believed to have caused the incident should be prosecuted?' or something along those lines. In my case, I received a phone call from the police a few weeks later after they had investigated the accident I was involved in, saying that because it had been the opinion of the victim that I should be prosecuted, I would be in court facing up to driving without due care and attention. The rationale for that was that the victim had suffered an injury. Obviously were I to be prosecuted, her case for compensation would have been strengthened. Or would you care to challenge what actually happened to me with your expert legal mind? As for Leon Crouch, back to the thread, it has been said without him our club would no longer exist. Plus, we have the Ted Bates statue. I have only good things to say when you think of him in those terms.
  21. Yeah I thought it might be the case, but still, bit naff. I've just landed in Mexico which is interesting. Spent ages looking for a replacement Kentucky Saddler. Many an hour spent roaming the hills for one. I've got Undead Nightmare to come, but I might give L.A Noire a go before that.
  22. A friend of mine passed on a story about him not so long ago. No reason to doubt it. Crouch carved up my friend's friend on a carriageway going into Southampton, caused a bad accident. Wrote said friend of a friend's car off. Crouch offered to buy him a brand new and much better car, knowing full well he was responsible and likely to get done for driving without due care and attention or dangerous driving, should the friend of a friend say he wanted him prosecuted.
  23. Personally, having seen star signings of yesteryear that included the likes of Gregory Vignal and Chris Makin, I wouldn't mind seeing a bit of pure quality, class and experience like Del Piero.
  24. I agree, it is not always the best option. But to hear even when it's a decent option and looks as if it can work, 'GET RID OF IT', that's a bit stupid to me. Just because our defence has the ball it doesn't mean it needs to be automatically launched forward. To be honest, the more I think about it, the less positive I become. As I say, I've twice now commented on how proud I am of the team - but there aren't any points on the board. That cannot continue. As for the Southampton Way, I suppose I'm not trying to make a case for it, but use it to contrast with what I see as some very silly things being said around me.
  25. Yeah I mean I won't deny I was annoyed to begin with, chiefly because it took a second or two for it to be given when really if it's that clear cut the whistle goes immediately, but trying to get on the pitch? Really? I was lambasted for my thoughts on the fans that got on the pitch when Billy Sharp put us 2 - 1 up against the blue few, but it's the same thing to me - you're a grown man or woman and you've that little control over your actions, despite all the things in between? (Getting out of your seat, down from your row, battling stewards, over the perimeter advertising, onto the pitch) These are all very good points.
