BASED ON WHAT I HAVE SEEN SO FAR!!! What do you want me to say? That we should sign him? Based on what evidence? That a newspaper reports that Everton wants him? The same accusations of jumping the gun can be leveled at the people saying we should sign him. I can only go on the evidence of my own eyes and form an opinion on what I have seen of him. Based on what I have seen so far, my comment is that he is not worth the transfer fee and wages and that there are better more proven options available. Of course it is entirely possible that this could change and that he progresses and becomes better but I am offering an opinion AT THIS STAGE. I hope that isn't to difficult for you to comprehend.

I agree. So the other signings will hopefully be those which will significantly improve what we have. IMO based on what I have seen so far Stephens does not offer that.

Exactly. Last year we signed the likes of Lambert and Fonte, players who quite obviously improved the team immediately. With the added attraction of the NPC, we should have that same mentality this year. Even the skates got Lawrence last year and we should look for similar.

No point signing someone for the sake of it. We are in the NPC now and I haven't seen anything from him to suggest he will improve things (we will be signing another CM this summer anyway so he will be further down the pecking order behind Schneiderlin, new signing, Chaplow and Hammond.

I wouldn't want Stephens TBH. We can do better.

Yes it has been really weird. Ordinarily I would say my expectations are lower than the average every season. Expecting mediocrity is much easier than expecting big successes!

Had Pardew stayed and got second I would have been saying the exact same thing about him. My expectations of last season were significantly lower than this year. Excellence this season would have been running away with the league. Once again, it's a difference of opinion. Get over it.
