  1. What irritates me is the inference that everyone who doesn't praise and support Cortese completely is fickle or unintelligent.
  2. Success can be achieved without this approach. Many successful clubs are an example of this.
  3. I don't think it was lack of commitment, they just looked shell shocked. Do you really think they looked unaffected by the sacking? thinkthat was the primary reason for the performance they put in.
  4. Wes, the body language of the players and the manner of their performance suggested to me that the sacking of Pardew had affected them. They played in a very different manner to the other games I had watched this season.
  5. We don't know that. Isn't that what some people said about Duncan's predictions. I'm not going to be so quick to dismiss it and I await the team news on Saturday with interest.
  6. Hmm. He has slagged off saints a lot in the past though and said he would never join us.
  7. Why though. After quite a few posters had to eat humble pie recently I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss. He did after all say he heard it from the family.
  8. Makes sense. Going on tonights showing, also shows how correct Pardew was.
  9. Some people didn't like him. Without knowing the reasons why though the quote is meaningless.
  10. I seriously don't think it's him.
  11. No idea but I don't think it's him.
  12. But I can't think of any answers he can give that can explain away all his actions this summer and which are satisfactory enough for me to feel better about SFC.
  13. Kubrick without a doubt.
  14. TBH I don't really want to hear what he has to say. What could he possibly say to change how disconnected I currently feel from the club? How could he make me feel like Southampton is the club I grew up with and fell in love with? I hate what football has become and I hate how we have now gone with it.
  15. I would sooner be watching entertaining football in the championship than Premiership football. For a start it would mean I would only be able to go to about 3 games a season because a ticket would be so expensive. Look at Blackpool and how they are going about things. The are having a great time and enjoying every minute of it. That's how football should be not this what's in it for me mentality. Look at Norwich and how they price their season tickets so generously and how they listen to fans to give them the best experience possible. What is saddest for me is that Southampton FC is now a 'what's in it for me' club. I liked the fact that we had things such as the ex players lounge where legends like MLT could have come for free if they had wanted to. OK so with cold hard numbers that might have lost the club some money but it adds so much more value to the club than just something which can be written down on a balance sheet. There are so man other examples of where the SFC 'family' feeling of inclusion has been lost. That's really the most depressing thing in all this. It doesn't feel like it used to.
  16. Did you get this from Martin's family?
  17. I know I posted this on the other thread, but it belongs here too: Not sure what to say. Everything I have been told over the past few months appears to have had a lot of substance. It gives me no pleasure but that performance was clearly influenced by Pardew's sacking. I cannot disagree with you more strongly Weston. The players have CLEARLY been affected by this. I was no huge Pardew fan but to sack him the day before the window closes when he was looking to bring in more faces is just madness. I am totally deflated by both the awful performance tonight but also by the feeling that part of me wanted us to lose. I just feel so ashamed that we have acted with no loyalty and like we are becoming a lower league Man City. The way I feel at the moment, I don't think we deserve another victory. For me, supporting Southampton is about sharing an experience with other fans. About watching players who play with commitment and above themselves but above all it's about me feeling connected with the club and a feeling that "we are all in this together." For me Cortese has ruined this. It has become an "us and them" scenario with the views of supporters no longer encouraged and no longer listened to. MLT and Benali are discouraged from coming to games and the thought of that just depresses me hugely. Southampton used to be a family, a small club who punched above their weight and who had a great laugh doing it. I now feel detached from the club in the same way that I did during the end of Lowe's reign, except that this time there is nothing I can do to affect change. Cortese feels that Southampton is his baby, well it's not. SFC is owned by the fans who will be here long after you have left with your ridiculous ideas which have made myself and many other supporters feel isolated and like no one cares about supporters anymore. Call me stupid but I liked the fact that the press and others clubs had a soft spot for us. I liked the fact that we never paid mega bucks for players but that we had our own home grown heroes who gave a sh*t typified by the wonderful MLT. I look at the various things which have happened this summer and I just shake my head and wonder where it all went wrong. I'm not debating the rights or wrongs of these decisions, but they really have left me feeling like I am losing my club. The thought of having a smaller version of Chelsea as a club in the premiership in a few years makes me want to go down the road and support Eastleigh. I am incredibly sad tonight.
  18. Perhaps but then that never happened so the point is irrelevant.

  20. F*ck all for us. BOOOOO
  21. No players today then. Sometimes I hate this club.
  22. Tony, is it true that MLT has avoided going to SMS unless necessary for his job?
  23. Deppo is a WUM. People taking him seriously are fools.
  24. Fair play to you Cam. You have my respect (not that you will care that much! )
