I think if we ran a straw poll that Downes and THB would not be described as distinctly average championship players. You can disagree but I think your opinion would be in the minority.

I'm happy with the Mads signing which improves us but that's not where I think we are in the most need of strengthening. I don't share your confidence that that will be enough for autos I'm afraid. With that squad we should be alright for the playoffs. We won't score enough and we don't have enough in midfield for me.

Of course. Anyone is free to think this is a decent signing even though I disagree at this point. The issue I have is when people act all superior because someone has dared to be less than positive about a new signing before seeing them play. There's nothing wrong with having an initial reaction to a signing. Seeing lens fans pissing themselves laughing and begging to be rid of him is not something that fills me with confidence.

Both of them were absolutely key parts of us gaining promotion from this league. Note I didn't say I want clone of those two players, I said players of that quality. I simply disagree with you that THB and Downes do not have a history of being top performers in this league -albeit there may be some question marks about Downes playing in a system that isn't heavily possession based.

I'd say those signings were/are exactly what we need in our position - quality with a history of decent performances in this league.

Really weird that some people find it inconceivable that you could find a signing to be not that good initially prior to actually watchibg them for yourself.That means the opinion can change once more evidence becomes available. It's entirely non controversial and normal to have an opinion of a signing when they first sign. It's what web forums are for.

No you said we weren't going to spend substantial money on any signings. If we get Azaz in that won't be the case even if I'd personally see that as a disappointing window.

I'm not going to write then off yet until the end of the window as they might pull off something excellent that we haven't been linked with yet but if this is it I'd rather have not been linked with Spertsyan to be honest if it meant we just wasted our time all summer before getting whatever was left at the end of the window.

If we drop something like 12 million on rak sakyi who may or may not be better than Edozie then I'll be bitterly disappointed that that's where we chose to spend our limited funds.

Would be interesting to know which of our transfers Spors has actually been responsible for. We know he was definitely responsible for the Stephens three year contract but there was a suggestion this week that he had nothing to do with Downs or Quarshie.

Right but no one is calling for signings just for the sake of it. They want players that are near the best in the division for the most part.
