It looks to me like this is going to have two or three peaks before we hopefully develop a vaccine. Given that scenario and the probable meed for multiple periods of lockdown the decision may have to be whether it is better to keep people locked in their houses for at least a year or whether getting enough people infected to herd mentality levels in as controlled a manner as they can is the way to go. Sad fact is the threat of this virus isn't going anywhere until we get a vaccine. I doubt they will be able to safely restart the football in September.

Whilst that is true, I'm not sure it's the smartest move having someone like Hancock doing the rounds in the press. He always strikes me as someone who looks like he doesn't know what he's doing and doesn't exude confidence and authority in the way that someone like gove and especially sunak has done recently. I'm sure he's a nice bloke but the messaging is key here and he's not up to it.

Just think of it as an extra long season. It's a better idea imo than anything else that's been suggested.

Reminded me of the initial reactions of some of the older lot on here. Difference is they've stayed quiet now as the facts have become clearer. You have to be a special kind of thick to persist with this line after you've been told repeatedly what's going to happen if you continue being cavalier about going out etc.

All the people moaning that Boris was ignoring them and was just following his strategy for the money have all shut up.
-
Why not just cancel all relegation and promotions and add all current points to next seasons.
-
Not sure I've argued otherwise? Refer back to my post number 748.

Again, I'd probably let the mother decide, maybe alongside a medical professional to assess risk. Not. Much point holding out with the pregnancy if both end up dying.
-
In a case where the mothers life is in danger and the default is to kill the baby then it makes sense to give the choice to the mother. I didn't say I was anti choice anyway.
-
Then ask the mother to decide. Maybe she'd prefer the baby lives.
-
That's the clearly the case if the child can't survive without the mother. Presumably if the mother dies then the inborn child will as well.

Abortion is a difficult one. I was pretty ambivalent on it until I had my own children then it became much harder for me to condone it. At the very least it should be a very difficult and considered decision with at least a certain amount of social stigma attached - though stigma may be the wrong word and a bit strong. Basically I find the celebration of the whole thing particularly among a certain section in America to be distasteful in the extreme.

No doubt. It's entertaining.

Good luck with that hippy.

What does that even mean?

Maybe God worked through the paracetamol. God channeled his divine power into the paracetamol which cured the headache. Maybe the religious person prayed for medicine to be a success.

Because it gives him something to laugh at and be kept amused by.

Yep. Personally I don't think her dad gives much of a toss about a lot of stuff but he very much cares what other people and the wider society might think about things. It's very important to look like you're doing the right things even if you don't really care (which tbf is how I think a lot of Asians are.)
-
No his aim is to make sure he spends time in heaven with people who are worth hanging out with. He's doing a good job keeping weirdos and dullard out.

She's not practising. Her mum was English and she wasn't raised as a Muslim. Within the family there are certain expectations though like her father was quite strict when she was younger by western standards but very Liberal by traditional Muslim standards. That may be a cultural thing rather than religious though.

What's sensible about a religious debate with MLG for the thousandth time? I don't care if someone wants to follow a religion as long as it doesn't affect me. If it gives people some comfort then that's what matters.
-
Quite rightly people don't want to argue the minutiae of religion with you during a worldwide emergency.
-
You're boring. I don't care why people pray, it's not my concern as long as they aren't hurting anyone else. More power to them.
-
I didn't say that did I. Loads of people say a prayer and still seek medical help. Good lick to them if it gives them comfort.
