  1. Wasn't the plan for a midfielder to play at lb if required?
  2. Do you have an example of moaning? I think the general consensus of those who disagreed with you was that you were going over the top and being hyperbolic with your reaction. I haven't seen anyone being apathetic, everyone has been positive about the potential signing they just didn't have the same OTT response that you did.
  3. I genuinely haven't seen anyone moaning about this signing. Do you have a link?
  4. There seems to be universal agreement that this is a decent signing and the club should be commended. I think though that most posters have a bit of perspective- particularly considering the reported nature of the deal - and don't want to go overboard with the hyperbole before he's walked in the door. I'm perfectly happy for people to be positive or excited about this but it's your use of the word "insane" that I had an issue with. It's a perfectly realistic sort of signing for us to get involved in given our financial situation and not insane at all (albeit the club deserve great credit if they pull it off). We've had loads of hyped signings and in my experience they are the ones who always fail to live up to expectations (off the top of my head Ramirez, Skacel, Euell, Osvaldo) so I'll take a wait and see approach
  5. I remember when we signed Gaston ramirez after Lawro scoffed at the idea of a small club like saints signing him. I thought that was an insane signing at the time but he was just shite.
  6. It's not an insane deal. Calm down. He's coming to us because we can offer him first team football and then he gets to go back to Chelsea in a few seasons if he makes the grade. It makes sense for both parties and we've done well to negotiate it.
  7. If he can play rb and lb then that's a great signing and really strengthens us at the back. If we can get in a decent dm then I won't mind so much about not strengthening the attack. If we keep hold of our players and got one more in after this then that's a good window imo.
  8. Sounds like a decent signing. I wonder if he can play in any other positions.
  9. He's edited the post to try to hide it! Mr wrong strikes again!
  10. If we have limited funds I can see why Ralph's priority would be making us most solid defensively. We were frankly appaling last year in that department (probably our worst season since promotion in defence.)
  11. I suppose that would depend on ings going.
  12. So a full back, a six and a CB.
  13. She definitely had no idea who Carillo was. It was almost certainly a lucky guess based on his physique, what he was wearing and the fact he was very clearly foreign (and the staff were fawning all over him.)
  14. The other depressing thing is it's the only time in my life that my wife has pointed to someone at a restaurant (the week he signed) and said "is he a footballer?" Had I known what I know now I would have definitely replied in the negative.
  15. Yes but also the amount we have had in such a short space of time. You can swallow one hoedt, carillo, lemina, elyonoussi etc but having them all on the clubs books at once is crippling for a small club like us.
  16. If it's fucking tedious then imagine how tedious it is for others to read your reply calling it tedious.
  17. Certainly on here. Part of me thinks that a bit of it is a persona. I refuse to believe that someone like him actually exists offline.
  18. I see soggy has gone off the deep end again. Saying someone is living "rent free in his head" is calling him mentally deficient! You couldn't make it up!
  19. Exactly. It's like he can't trust himself to simply see the poster and then just skip over their posts. No willpower.
  20. Why would you stick someone on ignore and then keep mentioning it? They're clearly still living rent free in your head regardless of any ignore list so it seems a bit redundant.
  21. You forgot about when he labelled Nazis Christians because of their belt buckles and when he called people rape apologists for calling into question the verdict of a man who was ultimately acquitted (and then refused to apologise.)
  22. Don't get me wrong I think the racism moral panic from the media and particularly on social media has been laughably overblown and mostly exacerbated by the pandemic. I'm just saying that I can see why the players would be annoyed about direct racist abuse from social media users. That doesn't excuse it being continued for what seems like weeks now after the final or as you state to basically not mention some of the other burning injustices when this feels rather minor by comparison but I do see their point of view.
  23. TBF you can oppose all of these things at the same time. On another note, I see that saka is going to become the youngest recipient of the freedom of Ealing award for his "courage." I mean ffs isn't this getting a bit much now? The team lost, can't we celebrate properly when they actually win something?
  24. That's very sad that you got beaten up. I would say though that isn't a universal experience. My wife is also Asian and has been called a "paki" twice in her life which I would say was racist but otherwise has not encountered any racism like you describe. She's never been beaten up, never been served last, never been spat at or been refused a taxi. She has just been offered a new job from people who were happy to have her and her weird sounding name and if she was asked where she was really from she would reply that she was born in England but her father is from Iraq and think nothing more of it. I'm sure those things do happen but its not something my wife or any of her friends have ever had to deal with and most of them live in Southampton or London. Thanks for the post though it was interesting to hear what you had to say and I'm sorry you've had some terrible experiences by the sounds of it. I hope the people involved got their comeuppance.
  25. Is that a crossword clue?
